Checking Valve Clearance(s)

Do the xB 1st gens need valve gaps checked? I had heard that they did but I had also heard that they had timing belts but that appears to be false too! My manual says nothing about this having to be checked.

Most vehicles recommend checking valve clearance during the 60k service

Intake, 0.006-0.010 in. (0.15-0.25mm)
Exhaust, 0.010-0.014 in (0.25-0.35mm)
