There is a boat load of products still in R&D. By summer there will be 3-4 manufactuers w/ turbo kits available. How's that for aftermarket support? The car just came out in August, give it time.

I realy wish they would make a performance chip for the car, increasing the rev limiter and stuff like that.

It's cool that there are gonna be 3-4 turbos available, but i know I will probably never buy one due to the cost, so that doesn't do me any good.

I wont Turbo My Car because of that extensive warranty I bought....I can only do the S/C. Plus, I've had problems with turbos and reliability issues. I would always chose a supercharger now over a turbo.

Turbos make more power, but blow your engines faster.

turbo can blow ur engine if not done properly

Not saying I'd get a turbo (at least until the damn thing's paid off) but I was just giving an example as to the response by aftermarket companies to our tC. I'd say in about a year or so there should be just about anything available to mod your car and a lot of the stuff coming out will have some decent long-term reviews. Can't wait :nails:

I swear, this is one of the most ignorant things I have heared on this forum. And then we all get surprised why other communities laugh at us for being riceboys

I hate to agree, but I'm with retro on this. The concept is the same, just different execution. I sometimes cringe at the some of the comments I see on this (well, this and many others) forums.

one thing that is true the turbo probly wont last as long as the sc becouse of all the heat it will probly need to get rebuilt before the sc but i would rather turbo then sc becouse its alot more efficent

There is a ton of parts out for it. I already have mine modded after only 3 weeks of owning it.

people tend to think turbo blow up your engine blocks b/c young kids (im young too hehe) slap on a turbo. w/o upgrading, pistons, rods, cams, feul injectors, big brake kits, clutch/flywheel. and they turn up the boost wayyy too high and KaBooOm.

its too bad we don't have pistons or rods or cams or fuel stuff yet. but when we do...

BURN! (that was a little harsh though)

It was your wording. A turbo will not blow your engine any faster. It is the fact that you can buy a turbo with much more boost than most SC systems, mixed with the fact that idiots slap them on cars that arent ready for them. For example, I can go out right now and buy a stage three turbo kit with tons of boost, and slap it on my tC, and destroy my engine. Or you can get the TRD supercharger (if it ever comes out!!!) which will only provide about 6lbs of boost. The engine can handle this much easier without mods. So it is actually the person putting the huge turbo on the non modded engine that tears it up. Just like idiots trying to slap nos on a 100,000 mile engine.

Now, on the turbo itself, it is a more complex system, which in theory will need more maintenance to itself than a simpler system (supercharger). I too like the supercharger because it a) will be designed specifically for the tC and will not void waranty. And b) because it is a simpler system giving plenty of power for a daily driven car. But I am sure that a few years down the road, when this car is not driven all the time, It will be getting forged internals, a beefy tranny, and a HUGE turbo. But then it will be a toy. :eyebrow:

SC and T are completely different things. To get the most out of a SC requires a lot of tweeking and turning. Very hard to get the max HP out of the SC.

How so? They both use the exact same principle to compress air into the intake. A turbine takes incoming air, charges it and forces it into the intake manifold. They're different just in the way they're powered, superchargers being belt driven and turbos are exhaust driven. Granted turbos are capable of more boost and are generally more efficient, they both basically do the same thing. As for tuning, anyone can build a turbo kit with the right equipment where-as superchargers are custom built for specific engines but 6psi is 6psi, your ECU isn't gonna know the difference. It just knows it has to adjust for more air now.

AMEN. Another common misconception is that turbos use FREE energy from the exhaust to turn them. Power requires work, and the turbo creates restriction in the exhaust sytem. Granted, they are more efficient than a SC, but the energy isn't free. No such thing!
