Just wondering, is a Scion the slowest of all the new cars out there? :pray: I know a chevy aveo has 106hp, :rofl: but in a review, it seemed like it said, due to sound proofing sheets in the xA, the aveo can actually beat it out by a hair. :no: So what do you think?

just a question... i mean, don't get me wrong, I think scion's are the cooloest looking cars out there, I was just wondering if, along w/ the record of best looks, lol, it was also the "least fastest" on the market. That's all

Motor Trend did a comparison article a few months ago with the Kia Rio Cinco, the XA and some other penny pinching vehicle...Hyundai?
Anyway, the XA killed it's own documented 0-60 by about a full second and spanked the other 2 cars in the comparison. It flat out should not have even been put in the comparison except it's price was right.
Needless to say the MT reviewers were impressed.

Yeah the scions arent fast but theyre not that slow , a modded one can beat alot of cars out there.

THey were probably testing the auto in your comparison test. Auto xA/xB's are extremely slow (stock, that is). In the motortrend test (as Cameron said) reported that the xA absolutely blew away the Aveo and the Kia. 0-60 in 8.8, and 1/4 mi in 16.7 is not slow. It's not fast, it's not even kinda fast, but it's not lagging behind the competition either. For reference, a 1996 Camry LE V6 does 0-60 in 8.5, a Toyota Corolla is good for the same as well, and my friend's Ford Focus (auto) ZX3 is also slower. The previous generation civics are also slower. I've "raced" a few just for kicks n giggles, and definitely slower. Also the BMW 523 does 0-60 in 8.5 (for a $40k+ sedan, that is horrible). Nobody buys it, but I pulled on one on the highway. 540's are VERY fast, fast than my LS400, but they are also more expensive. Let's see. . . what else. . . a Subura 2.5 RS gets 0-60 in about 8.5 (as tested by motortrend). . . The 4cyl Honda Accord Coupe (previous generation) is also slower, but barely. It's a heavy car. . .

Now our cars are NOT fast, but they are pretty good when equipped with a 5spd. The auto (although it seems like I pick on it a lot) isn't bad for those who like auto, but it is slower, compared to most cars on the road. Auto's are great, especially in places like LA, when you'd be lucky to go faster than 1 mph on the highways.

Silly rabbit, HP is just one part of the formula...

TXboxdriver

he is correct
HP=torque x rpm / 5252

That and weight helps alot too , right now i'm bvetween 15.8 and 16.1 in the 1/4 so not excessively slow. pretty quick .

My xB stomps the ____ out of my '89 4-cyl auto Mustang. It had 88 hp out of the factory and weighed something like 3400 lbs. at 144,000 miles I got to 60 in about 16 sec.

I believe the perception of speed is directly related to the first car you drove. I had a 51 Chev PU. 216 CI. It did 0-60 in 30 seconds, and also 60 in the 1/4 mile. After that truck, the xB is a speed demon. And I love my little demon.

I've had faster and slower cars before , my 87 non turbo supra that weighed 3450 pounds ran 14.9 so a 15.8-16.1 is slow. That and i just miss rwd , my favorite car of all time my old 81 bmw 320i ran 17.0 as my fastest so..... I have also had a 69 bug with just intake and exhaust it would run about 17.** and my first car , 1980 datsun nissan 210 wagon was tweaked and got say.....18.0

Being my previous car was a 97 integra, all motor 240whp the scion xb (what i have now) isn't fast. However, they didn't put it on the market implying it was a speed demon. In return, its meant (in my opinion) to be a show car. You know, "all show and no go" or "some show, some go". You can make the box pretty quick, a lot of us xb owners probably plan to do so. But by no means, will you be running mid-high 12's on the quarter. At least, not without deep pockets and alot of trial and error. If anything just make it quick...
Power to weight, and gearing.. A pretty quick xb would have like 140whp+. Anyway, thats my opinion!
