Just got my bumper back on with my new Hella Optilux 2500 foglights with Angel Eyes. Still kinda day time, so I'll take night shots later, but here's what they look like. I also took pictures of the custom mounting bracket that I have. I know those who are looking to get them find it hard to imagine what they look like, so I took pictures for those who are interested.

If you got any questions about them or the install, post!

What is the price on these? How is the performance? I have read that the OEM foglights are a joke. Also are you happy with the fit of these?

You can find these online for about $50 - $60. Pretty good price compared to OEMs. They perform SO much better than stock bulbs. They're so bright, that I can even run my fogs as my night driving lights, not to mention angel eyes are just awesome. I had to turn the shutter speed way down when I took the night pictures cus the fogs were blaring. I'm pretty happy with the fitment, although they aren't in the one of the fog light as much as OEM, it's stlil a good fit since they're larger by 1/4/" I believe in diameter.

Hope that helps.

itzjere,

The install looks sweet. What brand of bulbs did you use with your new Hella Foglights? How long did it take for you to do the install? Did you have to align the foglights so that it is shining the light in the right direction?

I'm not sure what brand the bulbs are. They're the ones that came with the foglights. I'm guessing Hellas? They're H3 bulbs though, not the 9006's that come on OEMs. The install, which included taking off the bumper, drilling a hole for the bracket, installing the bracket, the foglights and then installing the bumper back on probably took about 2.5 - 3 hours? In terms of allignment, I'm not even sure if they're alligned. They look generally right, just as long as when you mount them, that they're stright, and pointing in the right direction.

Hope that helps.

I checked Froogle and these can be had for $60 and if I'm not mistaken the switch and harness is $30. Very reasonable when compared to the OEM price of $385 installed. Was it easy to run the wires from the switch to the lights?

I am looking at the Hella Optilux 1300 for a better fit. But the Angel Eyes do look very nice.

Nice job on the fab :D Looking good!

The switch is a bit off though. You can always get another tab at the Toyo parts department If you want to redo it again. I know I did! I wanted it to look as factory as possible so I had one as a spare in case I foobar it :P

A friend of mine recommended using a round three way switch instead the one supplied since all you need to do is drill a hole and mount it in. The one supplied is a _____ to fit in!

The foglights come with all necessary wiring, relay, fuse, and switch. no need to buy anything else :P

The wires are very easy to run. If you look around the firewall behind the battery, you'll see a group of wires going through it. Just use a wire coat hanger and run it through!

The switch and the harness are included, so there is no need to buy an extra set. $60 I find is kinda the high end of the going price. Here is where I got them from: http://www.truckcustomizers.com/products/R4HLA131.2.html $49 plus about 7 bucks shipping if I remember correctly. Running the wires was pretty easy. The only difficult part I found was fishing the wire through the firewall. Got my hand kinda cut up from that. Other than that, the wiring was pretty straight forward. Just connect the colors.

Yea, it was kinda hard to get it perfectly centered when working with a drill :)

Yea, I initially went to autozone to see if there was a three way switch that was the same size as the panel, but no luck. If I happen to find one, I'll change it up, otherwise, I'm happy with the switch. It turns on my fogs and my angel eyes when I want them to :)

I believe the 1300's are the same as the 2500's, just without the angel eyes, which is probably why they have a smaller diameter and fit better. You might not even need to build a bracket since they might line up with the existing stock mounting brackets.

Hyperwhites look much better than the stock ones that it comes with. When I installed mine I switched it with a set of Razo H3 hyperwhites to compliment my headlights and WOW! huge difference! So much brighter and gives a light bluish tint to the fogs.

You're totally right. You can run these fogs as headlights! (not recommended though since you can be pulled over for it :P)

do you have to wire it differently in order for the fogs to turn on when the headlights are off? also how do you control just to turn on the angel eyes and not the fogs?

The wiring that comes w/ the Hellas hook up directly to the battery, so you can run your foglights when your key's aren't even in the car. Your headlights don't necessarly need to be on.

In term of controlling the foglights, the foglights come with a three way switch. Fog lights on, off, angel eyes on. You can't run foglights and angel eyes on at the same time. Makes sense since the fog lights are so bright, probably can't see the angel eyes.

How much did those run you? How difficult was the swap? I'd be willing to change them to hyperwhites, but taking off the bumper, and basically doing the installation all over again can be hassle. Maybe when I'm bored during a weekend or something.

It's really simple to swap it out. All you need is a phillips screwdriver to unscrew the two cover bolts and the two screws holding the bulb. Swap it out and voila! Super bright foglights!

I don't exactly remember the price, but I know it was dirt cheap. Plus, the Razo bulbs have the highest light output out of all other superwhites.

ok, to reiterate a point made before, i had my foglights installed at the dealer, so all i have to do is simply rip out the stock bulb and replace it with the razo H3 hyperwhites and i'm good to go?

That won't work because the bulbs in the factory foglights are different from those of the Hellas. The factory bulbs are 9006, whereas the Hella ones are H3. You can try finding hyperwhite 9006 bulbs, but at the same time, I don't know if you can easy access and change the bulbs on factory foglights.

Take out your factory foglights, and see if you can change the bulbs out. If so, then I don't see why swapping 9006 hyperwhite bulbs in wouldn't work.

Good luck.
