So far I found this one that I like
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16889005137
I know it says it's out of stock but I put out a notice for when/if it comes back in.
Thinking about investing money into my entertainment setup instead of the car for once lol
At the moment I want a 42" but at the smallest I want a 36" which is the size of the TV I have in my room right now.
Any advice? Been browsing around cnet for reviews and stuff but can't seem to come to any good conclusions.

I have a Sony Bravia 40" and I fist palm myself for buying it. I had an issue with it turning back on by itself and than the sound randomly cutting out, nothing like going to the barracks inspector and saying, "I know you marked me off for leaving appliances on but my TV turns itself on lol",
Samsung is the way to buy, Two of my friends have Samsung, and our Boat has a Samsung 50 inch, it gets beat, and we have a second one which is currently a Sony, but have had Panasonic and Toshiba that couldn't last long. Samsung has an easy to use menu and I think is an all around TV, I'd trade my sony for one if I could.

ahem...i sell tvs and electronics for a living so here's my professional take on the unit you posted.
LG 42" LCD HDTV 42LD450
pros:
-good viewing angle. most tvs have a viewing angle of ~160-170 degrees, but that not to say this unit's "prime" viewing angle is any better than average
-swivel base. this is commonly overlooked but it an awesome feature when you have company over
-decent price
-1 year included warranty
-lg is a reputable company making excellent TFT lcd panels these days
cons:
-refresh rate is only 60hz and 4ms response time. lcd tvs 40" and above nowadays are almost always 120hz/2ms response time. for sports, action movies, and gaming this is important.
-model number. the LD series by LG is about two seasons old. the reason for newegg's agressive prices is likely because this is a closeout unit.
in short if you're looking for a bargain tv this is a reasonable candidate. IMO i would look for one with at least 120hz refresh rate to stay current with the latest technology, not to mention a better picture regarding to motion.
one word of caution to buying online is that you dont get to "see" the tv before you buy it. i always recommend people to see the tv with their own eyes before buying it.

Yeah I was wanting to plan a day to go to sears, frys, best buy, etc. to take a look. I also definitely plan on using it for gaming and I also watch netflix a lot. 40in might also be a good option..i mostly just want something bigger than my 36 widescreen tube tv I have =P.
Thanks for the advice guys

the best advice i can give is look at tvs with your own eyes and once you've decided on one try to find the best deal online. be sure to get a decent warranty as well.
good luck man.

newegg.com and tigerdirect.com are websites that are like big electronics stores, I use them to build computers, they sell everything that has to do with electronics.

Just a little update - looked at a couple tv's today while I was out and about and determined that I think 40in is gonna be the way to go for me. So far narrowed it down to samsung, panasonic and lg. Really digging samsung but I also have a LCD computer monitor from them that I love so I'm kinda biased lol also loved the LG which seemed comparable and a little cheaper. Panasonic was nice to but a little more on the expensive side from what little I saw.
Also loved the new LED tv's..those things are pretty haha to bad they are so expensive..gonna stick with LCD for now.
Anyway, just a little update for anyone that was curious

i'll look into it..but the tv won't be a purchase of mine till at least next month. Gotta pay off a guitar I've been financing first, which will be done once I get back from my road trip to colorado in july so yeah haha.
thanks for the heads up though.

Yeah I'm really digging the samsungs..like I said I have on of their LCD monitors for my PC and I love it.
Oh and now I'm thinking 40in is way to big for my room haha considering I'm only like 2 feet away from the TV at any given time unless I'm actually laying down in bed or something

The one thing I did when I bought my tv was to go to the store when a game was on. Doesn't matter what sport, just watch a broadcasted game. Really helps narrow down which tv has the better picture. It's more difficult when they're playing a Bluray. I have a 32" 1080p 60hz Sceptre LCD. Looks fantastic when I run something on PS3, and majority of tv is good also....but as said above you do notice the slower refresh rate when watching sport. I've had it for 2 1/2 years with no problems. I do wish I would have gone for a 37", but for the deal I got when I bought it you couldn't touch a 1080p for the price. My next tv will be a Samsung LED tv. They always have the better picture.
I got my 55" LCD 120 Hz LG for 1000 even. Open Box but knew the manager and got me a free 2 year warranty from HHGregg. Their Open Box price was still 1600 originally
Sometimes it just pays to know people!
In short, LG makes an awesome TV like Samsung but they usually beat them by a little in price. Sony is so-so in my opinion. Toshiba is reliable but picture quality is lacking and the Sharp Aquos line didn't impress me in regards to picture either.

Bumping this thread up but for anyone that is curious this is what I decided to go with:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16889005149
had the specs I want and I knew I wanted either an LG or a Samsung..only issue I had with Samsung is they only came in 40in and the ones I wanted were way to expensive for me.
SO anyway..super excited..my first full HD tv..and it's an LED-LCD
Also went ahead and got a 2 year warranty through newegg added on.
