I have no idea what he wants the 3" pipe for. silversciontc 02-25-2005, 03:06 PM Well here is the thing....from what I understand. Our cars do not use a downpipe they use a header......turbo charged cars are the only cars that I now that use a downpipe.... jwaggz82 02-25-2005, 03:48 PM if you dont have a turbo on that car you do not want the 3'' pipe. Draxas_VP 02-25-2005, 07:06 PM We will be making a 2.5" downpipe/S-pipe.. whatever you choose to call it ;) The current downpipe narrows down to around 2" or so. As you may already know, our exhaust system is 2.5" in diameter, so this downpipe will be a perfect upgrade for anyone with a header. Im not so sure how much the downpipe will help if you have the stock manifold in place. On the Scion tC, (for those that dont know), this is how the exhaust is setup... Manifold -> Flanges -> Down Pipe -> Flanges ->Exhaust System The down pipe connects to the collector on the manifold, goes under the engine, up and over the frame, and then connects to the exhaust system. Nikolas Cockpit_XB 02-28-2005, 02:24 PM well to be realistic, any scion is not gonna need a 3" inch down pipe if turbocharged, its not need, 2.5" is max in my opinion. The only cars that need a 3" down pipe are cares like supras, evo's, 240's, 350z's, mr-2's, skylines, you know high horsepower cars like these ones. jmiller20874 02-28-2005, 02:31 PM Mr2's high horsepower? They have less than the tC. endlessracingz 02-28-2005, 02:32 PM Well the scion speed stage III have roughly 403hp @ flywheel. It is not massive power but I think the 3" helps. jmiller20874 02-28-2005, 02:34 PM Yeah and the Jotech produces 600hp at the crank, I'd consider that high-horsepower. brownbanana 02-28-2005, 02:53 PM Mr2's high horsepower? They have less than the tC. he probably meant that earlier 3sgte mr2's, not the mr2 spyder aka MRS which has the weaker 1zzfe. jmiller20874 02-28-2005, 03:31 PM Mr2's high horsepower? They have less than the tC. he probably meant that earlier 3sgte mr2's, not the mr2 spyder aka MRS which has the weaker 1zzfe. Still that's only 200hp. Of course unless he's speaking in terms of serious modding of these cars in which case the tC at 600hp would still be considered high-horsepower in terms of where it would place with the rest of them once heavily modded. In terms of 4-cylinder engines, why would an Evo, MR2 or 240 benefit from a 3-in down-pipe and not a 2.4L tC (same engine size as the 240sx). The only difference is that all these cars are turbo'd except the 350z, but really any engine under high boost probably would benefit from a 3" downpipe. |
