toyota makes a factory fiberglass eyelid? i know of the pandora, topline, butterly system, affection, scudetto and chargespeed, which are similar to the one you are describing.

The thing you're thinking of is made by topline, a japanese body kit company.

Oratoro was going to manufacture a few to offset the cost of his imported one. You might want to get in touch with him.

I didn't want to mention anything until things are final but the mold has been made and samples have been made. Currently I am looking into other options to keep cost down and to pass the savings to anyone interested. Packaging for shipping is also being looked into to keep cost down.

I will try to post pictures later today once I get home from work.

If all goes well, hopefully they'll be ready within the month.

As promised, here are a few pictures of the "New" Front Face Finisher designed for the US xB.

A silicone mold for better detail.

Item is attached via 3M double sided tape.

I had plans to hand lay each piece myself but with my current project ("Fear Factor Live") I am unable to so, the item has been sent to a fiberglass shop for samples to be made. If I'm happy with their work, production will start very soon.

Will keep everyone posted when available.

Cost is still TBD[/img]

How hard would it be to convert that FFF for use with the scion emblem? Presumably you would just have to cut a little bit of fiberglass.

The awesomeness of your xB cannot be understated.

Noobs take note of the dual reflector headlights (OEM from toyota japan), turn signal mirrors, and toyota japan front lip.

Won't know the price until the final samples are complete. Currently I'm having troubles finding boxes to have these shipped in. I'm afraid I may need custom size boxes made which will add to the cost.

Being the part is very fragile, I'm sure it will break being it's an oversize part. I feel in the long run people will complain of the cheap/poor packaging.

About the box for shipping. Go to a carpet store and ask them for their old tubes from the inside of the carpet rolls. They are happy to give them away.

Orataro
03-16-2005, 01:05 PM
Sorry, a mailing tube will not work due to the bend in the part.

A box in the size of 12"x4"x54" is required. As of now, still no luck.

You could take a 54x48 piece of cardboard, fold it into a triangle, and cap the ends... filling it with packaging peanuts or whatnot. Honestly, if the price for shipping was $30/more... it'd still be worth it.

bB2NER
03-16-2005, 08:06 PM
I agree, even if the cost of shipping and the box were $30 it will still be good. We like the part and want one. Also, doesn't the part flex a little? If it did it would slid right into a tube.

I don't want to start a post until I have them in hand and I'm happy with them. And, being I am not a sponsor with this site, I can not openly sell them on this site. So, most likely I'll just place them on my eBay auctions or eBay store. Then again, it doesn't cost much to become a sponsor on this site.

My goal is to keep it around $140.00 not including shipping. A CF version is another option if I can find a local shop that does CF.

Thanks for the hook up. Spoke with them today and will try to work something out with them.

Some other news but upsetting news. Called the fiberglass shop today on the status of my parts. After a month, they have yet to do anything. Very disappointed in them as in the past I've dealt with them and their normally very fast. Being my parts are only samples they have other priority jobs that have to be done. In the meantime, will look for another shop in my area.

Hey guys!

Been out of town for awhile. I have plans to visit the fiberglass guy tomorrow. That guy better have the parts ready! :tap:

Orataro

Bad news and Good news.

Called that guy yesterday to ask about my samples. Not to my surprise, he failed to make my parts still. So, I told him I'm coming to pick up my mold and taking my business somewhere else.

To my surprise, he called me back a few minutes later and said he would have the samples ready by today. (Wednesday) He also offered me a deal I couldn't pass up. It might take a little longer for production to start but overall will be best for all of us.

The samples were not as well as I hoped but after some sanding on my part, they came out well.

In the meantime, I now have the mold and will make them on my own time. He is making a new mold from my Original part for full production. Lets just hope it doesn't take another month.

I will be selling the samples as soon as the final prep work is complete.

Here are some more photo's of the final product.

I took the day off today so that I could get a jump start on making these at home. Setting up my EZ-up and tables and stuff. Hopefully by this weekend I can begin production at home. Being my work is really busy, I won't have much free time but in the evenings.

And yes, this is made to fit the US xB.
