Dear fellow scionlifers,

I searched but couldnt get a definate answet to my prob.
I sjust Insatll trs struts and springs. Now after like a week of driving theres a high pitch squeek even in normal driving doesnt need to be a bump. Now i tried lith grease maybe im applying in wrong areas?

When i go outside of the car and push down the rear end i hear the squeeking also. To be clear its only in the rear struts.

What could it be and what could i do to resolve this, its driving me insane, tc's already have enough noises

My car came with TRD springs and rear sway bar already installed and only squeaks from the suspension was from the rear sway bar bushings in cold temperatures. Try putting more lube/grease on the bushings.

stupid question, but to do this i would need to remove the sway bar correct? And lueb the in lining of the bushings.

If so are jack stands neccesary? or could i do this without jacking the car?

It's only the TRD springs and struts that you have done right, no rear sway bar? If it's the rear sway bar, from other posts I have read there should be an opening/gap/cut/hole/whatchamacallit to be able to lube the bushing with the sway bar installed. I haven't taken a look at the sway bar bushings at all since I bought the car.

Well ive been using lithium grease on dam near everythin that moves in the rear section :P

But from what ive seen i would need to really remove the sway bar to get the interior area of the bushing. And yes ive only changed struts and springs

You do not need to completely remove the rear sway bar if you can simply slide off the bushings while the sway bar is under the car.

I would just disconnect the sway bar from the endlinks and take off the bushing bracket. By then the sway bar is ready to come off but let it sit there around the suspension and try to remove the bushings that way (but make sure you do not damage anything). If the bushings are not easy to remove like this you will need to remove the sway bar from the car and this takes a little bit of playing around (an extra hand is a big help). When and if you decide to completely remove the rear sway bar from the car, there should be little to no excuses on not being able to take off the bushings.

When I installed my rear sway bar I jacked up one side using the factory jack and the side with my dads jack off his corolla (and supported both sides with some wood just in case if the jacks fail). This is not the best method, but if you have access to jack stands use them (the car will be more stable this way). Doing this while the vehicle is lifted with the wheels off will give you real good access to the bushings and bushing brackets.

Now as what dropzone suggested, lube the bushings. After that, install the sway bar and make sure it is evenly centered. And hopefully your problem was from the rear sway bar and not from your struts because I just wrote all of this thinking is from your RSB and than I hope your problem is solved!

Well EasternSnap, he only changed his springs and shocks, any squeaks from that area may be install error. I've changed the springs on my 89 Celica and haven't had any squeaks there. Might have to double check that the springs are seated correctly are what come to mind.

Well that was depressing, greased them up but sound is still there its probably a suspension problem like dropzone said. Cant think of anything else it could be

i had a car that did the same thing but with coilovers, i lubed the everloving shhiit out of the bushings and it went away, maybe your not applying the correct lube(lol) or in the wrong areas..

Hey dropzone I was mentioning the rear sways only because of your suggestion to lube the bushings. It was worth a shot though.

He still on the OEM rear sway bar so there shouldnt be any issues there though. At least he has a walkthrough to refer to by checking on this thread.

Well i must say was rather ____ed yesterday. Installed new suspension thinking get rid of one noise now i have another :P

So i was come on rly the strut is f'd? So i let a friend push the car up and down and the sound doesnt seem to be comming from the strut but rather in the (dunno how its called) but the lower fork area, so the lowest part of the suspension. Might be bad bsuhing there or something. Been driving on 2" for four years on the old setup. Im thinking maybe because the trd's are higher the car is getting a bit ____ed dunno :P

Ah I don't know that area very well because I never worked on my car in there. I am guessing control arm? I would like to know what the part is called if you find out bud. Hopefully you can get some good advice from someone soon. In the meantime take care.

Well im gonna go all out lube crazy get everything i can hit that moves. I mean a la KY back door action lube. After ill take it to the shop :P

Well after many failed lube jobs :P.......went to the shop turns out rubber stopper was busted.:tap:
