freep 07-08-2008, 05:56 PM what's wrong with that boot? I don't have any issues with mine getting bunched up or anything. You're gonna love the bushings! They are a pretty easy install, especially if you have an intake already.
smy003 07-08-2008, 05:59 PM Yeah, I'm really excited about the bushing. I've heard so many people say that it makes the car feel so much better.

You got that shift knob off of a mustang!
When i first got my tc, me and my buddies went to a mustang dealership to take the shift knob to see how they look.
IMO, it doesn't look too appealing

coldbloodedtc 09-20-2008, 06:39 PM any1 ming chiming in on the cost of your shift knobs? im trying to get a nice one but i dont feel that 50$ for a shift knob is resonable but the ones i really like are way outta price range. i like hte sparco globex but its 80 on average. any suggestions on getting one for a decent cost
BZinn1 09-20-2008, 08:25 PM I got the Sparco Speed for $78........one of the best mods yet......spendy though......
highvoltage1 11-06-2008, 02:31 AM This is my custom weighted Doc Iso Hula shift knob with shift boot collar. It sits on top of my TRD quickshifter that I just won 2 weeks ago. It is an awesome combo. The shifts were much better with the quickshifter then i just got this knob in the mail today (Thanks Doc you rock). I threw it on and now it feels even better when shifting. Its great.

highvoltage1 02-25-2009, 01:41 AM Well my buddy has that shifter and i have driven his car. I liked it and he likes it. I am not feeling the knob. But why didnt you get a momo boot to go with that knob? I think a sparco booot should go with a sparco knob!

i had the momo carbon shift boot ordered, but it was discontinued....so i went this route
that short shifter looks tight but yea i agree, dont mix match momo knob and sparco boot..that would look too funky imo but its your ride
troy2003 02-26-2009, 05:59 PM that short shifter looks tight but yea i agree, dont mix match momo knob and sparco boot..that would look too funky imo but its your ride
thanks for the advice...but take a look at the progress on my ride....and then all else on here....im pretty sure ive done ok so far....and if ya read my last post youd understand the reason....they didnt not have my initially ordered boot anymore, discontinued....if i dont like it im sure ill be swapping it out soon anyways, thanks guys!! :)

I'm considering that one or this one

Sparco Globe-R Knob, Sparco Luxor Shift Boot, and Sparco "DRIFT" E-brake Handle
nice, i have the same shift knob..how did you get the ebrake to go on?
Ebrake handle goes on just like all sparco items withthe allen set screws,I have same knob and brake handle and handle just went on over the handel and tighten the screws, had to make a new boot to cover the back side of handle, but other than that they go right on.....they are also much bigger than the picture makes them look.
does the ebrake get in the way?

breaux_tC 05-03-2009, 08:36 PM hey guys, im looking into getting a classic roush shift knob and was wondering what size thread we have on our shifter
12 i believe for manual and 9 for automatics
breaux_tC 05-03-2009, 09:30 PM hmm...
well this is the one im thinking about getting, tell me if you think it will fit or if i will need an adapter
http://www.americanmuscle.com/roush-2005-retro-knob-white.html
hmm...not sure if it will fit but shouldnt it? Mustangs thread is the same as ours...gotta check that up but since you are going for that style, check out cusco. They have a nice knob that fits the is300 manual so it should fit ours too. Same white ball style but better numbers and weight
breaux_tC 05-03-2009, 09:40 PM thanks for the advice domo
yeah i just found out that our thread and ford's is both 12x1.25
breaux_tC 05-03-2009, 10:12 PM im not too fond of the cusco knob
i know alot of people have been getting mustang knobs lately but would it be weird getting a knob that says roush on it? its the only one i can find in white with the 5 speed ingraved that i like...
yea im looking for a white one too...Roush would be weird because its made for American Muscle..other then that I just picked up a is300 knob from some dude on ebay. I picked it up for my girl but it turns out it does not FIT! I think the dude gave me a generic one because it doesnt fit on the is300 autos either!! ____ed -.- does anyone know if the is300 manuals came out with the same chrome ball?

Wavechaser 11-29-2009, 11:33 PM I need some help deciding which knob to go with:
Sparco R-Speed (http://www.sparcousa.com/ptuning_knobs.asp?id=319) (Not sure if it's too tall)
Sparco Globe-R (http://www.sparcousa.com/ptuning_knobs.asp?id=322)
Momo GTR2 Knob (http://www.ltbmotorsports.com/momogtr2knob.html)
Which would you guys recommend?
BZinn1 11-30-2009, 03:46 AM my buddy has the Rspeed on his stick and it sits fine, nice choice......the center of the ball is where the shaft ends.
I have it also on my Automatic and it sits fine too.....
One thing to note is be careful to get it centered and tighten each pin down evenly to keep it centered or you risk overtightening a pin and stripping the aluminum threads.
DJ08tC 11-30-2009, 05:45 AM $80 for a shift knob??, no thank you!! lol
BZinn1 12-01-2009, 01:47 AM $80 for a shift knob??, no thank you!! lol
haha i got the ebrake handle and boot to match too......it is nice but spendy
Wavechaser 12-01-2009, 02:38 AM What is a "short shifter"? Like, what is its purpose? I hear people talking about them on here constantly but I really don't understand what a short shifter does.
DJ08tC 12-01-2009, 02:47 AM exactly what it says, it shortens the shifts. The tC kind of has a long throw, takes awhile to go to the next gear, a short shifter shorts the throw.
Wavechaser 12-01-2009, 02:57 AM So it's just less back and forth movement between the gears? Maybe it's only because i've been driving manual transmission for a week, but it doesn't seem like there is a large amount of back and forth movement between the shifting of gears.
DJ08tC 12-01-2009, 03:02 AM like it shortens the length in between the gears, like going to 1st to 2nd. It shortens that length and makes it stiffer and smoother for the most of them.

Racersky 07-02-2010, 06:47 AM Got my new shift knob installed the other day, and I really love it. Matches the interior nicely. I especially love the feel of it, contoured nicely.

Sparco Globe-R Knob, Sparco Luxor Shift Boot, and Sparco "DRIFT" E-brake Handle
Dude, I really love the e brake and the boot. The Boot seems like it will really match the stock leather on my new xB well. One question though. I've been eyeing the sparco e brake but I dont want to see the sparco label. Can the e brake be flipped upside down or is there an obvious top and bottom?
Spoony 01-26-2011, 01:33 AM Eh, might as well. Those stickers are coming off ASAP!
It's JDM yo!

Spoony 02-02-2011, 05:18 AM Thanks! I'll take a better pic tomorrow. The pink in the knob stands out more than what shows in the picture.
shishcabobers 02-02-2011, 06:27 AM ^ lol I have one similar to yours but a different design, I'll try to get a picture of mine tomorrow.

I havent had much luck with this either :(
Matthias 03-25-2011, 01:36 AM I intend to bondo the whole area level, as to not tell where the boot/boot-plate was. The idea is to have only the hole for the shifter instead of a hole in the boot mounting bracket I bondo-ed over.

I love the shiftboot delete, looks neat. Mind if sharing how to do it?

Does that sparco shift knob get hot in the sun?
I got this knob in gunmetal, sadly, it basically fries the ____ out of my hand if it's been in the sun for an extended amount of time.

Matthias 04-06-2011, 06:32 AM I'll have to put together a write up and some pictures when I have some more spare time at the end of this semester - taking 7 classes at present
Simply, you can take the panel out, remove boot, take off the trim on both sides - your left with just the small ~12"x6" plastic panel that goes from near the cup holders to the cubby hole edge. This panel serves the function of covering the shifter and housing the cigarette lighter.
From here, bondo the 4x6" hole where the boot was. I braced the hole with 1/8" particle board. Using a sander, i leveled it out and painted the panel using truck bed lining.
Now you have a smooth flush panel. So, cut a hole for your shifter to stick through - make sure its big enough so you can easily shift into all gears - about 2".
I used a slightly curved circular piece of metal at the base of the shifter so there was no gaping view into the new hole. I lucked out with finding this perfectly sized piece of metal and rubber washer in my shop off a junk motorcycle engine. I drilled a hole in the metal and painted it, placing the rubber washer in it afterwards.

Nice write up, thx!
Aurora 04-22-2011, 03:09 PM Is there any way to get the shifter shorter on an automatic? I don't like how high it sits w/ the boot/manual look conversion. My only guess is that I have to find a knob that has a deep thread almost near the top of the knob so it sits really low on the shifter.

Cut and re-thread.
Aurora 04-23-2011, 01:58 AM Cut and re-thread.
How do you re-thread it with it still in the vehicle...you'd have to take the whole assembly out huh?
Spoony 04-23-2011, 07:13 PM You could probably use a threading die without removing anything.
