Thought I spun off my speedometer needle
... by pegging it >120 mph, of course ;).
No, my OEM battery died after 4 yrs. My wife's car's battery is doing the same, and they're both '06 models. She jump started me, and I drove it to a shop to have the charging system checked.
Well, my speedo needle just dropped straight down (too low to be below zero, and too high to be above 120), and didn't even twitch during the whole drive. When I parked the xB, the speedo needle was pointing straight down, and the tach needle was showing 3500 rpm - with the engine off.
Dang, and my xB's odometer is at 50,000 miles - outside the warranty - naturally.
Well, some of you know the answer. I bought a new battery, and the speedometer needle self-corrected itself. It worked fine on the return drive.
