I have just recieved the scion fx carbon fiber spoiler and i am having a few problems. 1st it came with no instructions, or hardware and even a little ding in the corner of it. 2nd it does not have the holes in the top like the "stock" one. So my question is, is how do i mount it without being ghetto. I don't want to just glue it on, the way i drive it would prob fall off. If anyone can help please do. Thanks a bunch.

OEM CF spoiler?

If so, the shop drilled the holes on top, since there was a place for that.
To make it secture, they put double sided tape too before the drilling.

So I guess that's the only thing you can do, if that's the OEM CF spoiler.

Thanks, i looked at your pics and i notice you have a cap on the top, did it come like that or did you do it. I have a regular spoiler and they said the oem carbon fiber fits stock. So i am lost because there is no hole and ireally don't want to drill it if possible. There are holes in the bottom of the spoiler though.

I got my wing from aeronationusa.com, and it came with the pre-drilled holes on the top.
Some do, some don't.

The holes you have, are they from the inside?
Can't really explain, but I had screws and holes from the inside.

My installer took out the screws from the inside and used them for the top since there were not screws.

But before drilling and stuff, he put double sided tape evenly mounted it, then drilled.

I have this same spoiler you are talking about. First, I was/am not pleased with the quality. Second, I have yet to mount it due to the crummy MI weather. However, it does mount from behind the hatch. There are three threaded sleeves in the spoiler itself so you have to drill through the hatch and install the screws from inside to out. I hope that made some sense. :nails:

Also, it appears as if the screws they provided are going to be too long, especially for the top mounting point. Be cautious not to screw in too far and poke right through the top of the spoiler. :doh:

I think it does look cleaner without the "caps" that all the other OEM CF spoilers I've seen have. But, it looks like it's gonna be a PITA to install. Sorry I couldn't help more.

That does make since, thats what i thought those bolts where for, i just wanted to check before i started something and broke it. I am good at those dumb mistakes for some reason. Thanks for the info. much appreciated.

i wud jus send them back, there not OEM spoiler. the OEM's have them "caps" on top of the spoiler & they bolt from the top & also has them "snap" connections with double sided black rubber foam water resistant heavy duty tape.
you can get the template from the dealer with hardware. jus wait & get da right stuff before you start drilling. do it right da furst time

Damn the cold weather that your haven. If i get my box from the body shop tom. I am going to install it on sat. and the weather is supposed to be around 70.

HEY crab,I have these neat little plastic inserts you put in those wholes,then you center the wing,tape these down,lift the wing up,they stay on the hatch,and you are ready to drill.Pm me if you want them.

What I should've said is, that the mounting points or patterns with my CF spoiler is the same with my OEM spoiler.
Hot Lava came with the original OEM spoiler from the factory / dealer. (not whats on the pics.) They are a part of the RS 1.0 package, so there was no drill for me to make.
the CF spoiler that i have, mounts exact to how the OEM spoiler mounts to my bX. Two mounting points on the top part of the spoiler with 2 bolts (with caps to cover the bolts), then the two mounting points on the bottom part of the spoiler with "snap" connector (not sure what they are called at this time, sorry.) anyways they snap into my bX.

I have also purchased a CF Spoiler on eBay that does NOT have the holes on top. The one I purchased was very good quality and I was thrilled until I started studying the delima I would have installing it. :ponder:

The seller (innomotor) listing showed a CFS with holes and plugs on the top. However the spoiler I received did not have them. You will also note in his listing that he states that there are no instructions. I believe this may be because he doesn't even know how to install it. :lol:

With this said... I have figured out how to install it. And the part I received is either a VERY good pirate copy of the bB OEM version, or as I believe it IS the bB OEM version. The inner cuped area (where it meets up with the top of the hatch) has TOYOTA, and part #'s embossed and a holographic sticker printed in Japanese Kanji.

With this version you must drill holes on the outside of the hatch, :nails: AND you must drill 3/4" holes on the inside of the hatch, (opposite the exterior holes). :nails: :nails: :nails: You then run the screw from the inside... out through the outside hole and then into the spoiler.

Also, everyone keeps refering to the "Capped" version as being OEM. Based on my findings, I believe the "Non-Capped" version is the true OEM style. When I drilled the holes from the inside I found a "Substucture" inside that has a hole predrilled. Thus the bolt head mounts against this substucture, NOT the painted interior surface. Then all you need to do is place a rubber plug over the interior hole to complete the installation.

This is Very hard to explain, but I will take pictures tomorrow, and follow-up with a tutorial on how to do it (with pics... when I figure that out).
