View Full Version : TEIN HOOD DAMPNERS!!! Scion4life 02-27-2005, 07:55 PM I know, thay have been out for a while, but I just got mine, they rock.I ordered them last OCT.Tein has already sold out again.I will post a pic soon. :silly: unlmtdndeavor 02-27-2005, 08:27 PM yeah those are nice products, expensive for hood dampeners, since u can get normal black ones for around $30, but they are TEIN. and if you are looking for that extra piece that will show off your cf hood, thats the way to go B2FiNiTY 02-28-2005, 02:14 AM I'd like you to show me where you can get black ones for the xb for only $30. Max2k 02-28-2005, 02:52 AM That's with some custom fabrication and whatnot. You can get a kit for $60. The manufacturer was on here last month looking for a test car. MattyRattyPoo 02-28-2005, 04:12 AM The TEIN ones rock!! Ive had them for like 2 months now and they alwayz get ppl's attention. Thnaks bbist (steve)!! windowtint 02-28-2005, 04:14 AM I'd like you to show me where you can get black ones for the xb for only $30. They call themselves PepBoys. I converted to hood dampers a year ago when I bought the car. Overlayed them in chrome (to cover the flat black) and they've worked flawlessly since the day I put them on. bBist 03-02-2005, 09:10 AM The TEIN ones rock!! They have bolt-on applications for $30? The PepBoys or autoparts stores do not have a bolt-on application. They are replacement shocks for hoods or trunks. The mounting hareware still need to be made. The TEIN hood dampers are more expensive, but they have been engineered by individuals who do this for a living. You have the TEIN quality and reliablity behind the product! -Steve 8) Max2k 03-02-2005, 10:26 PM http://www.redlinetuning.com/QL-SCION-XB.html unlmtdndeavor 03-02-2005, 10:52 PM B2FiNiTY wrote: windowtint wrote: B2FiNiTY wrote: I'd like you to show me where you can get black ones for the xb for only $30. The DIY versions are not the same. windowtint 03-03-2005, 03:14 AM the "same" ??? as in they aren't painted green with a sticker on them?? and? The DIY don't have the "i've got Tein" bling factor, but then again, the DIY system isn't mounted completely backwards either. If anything beyond a ratchet and socket makes you nervous, a 'kit' is definately the way to go (now if they'd make a kit that didn't mount in the wrong direction) toby3002 03-03-2005, 04:09 AM anyone see these for the tc yet? B2FiNiTY 03-03-2005, 05:00 AM You know... you could make a killing by selling your own DIY version. AllMyT 03-03-2005, 04:31 PM man i needa pic of these! TheDanger 03-03-2005, 05:14 PM pics? bBist 03-03-2005, 06:24 PM Here ya go! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v444/bbist/cl120.jpg bBist is an authorized dealer for TEIN (which means we deal directly with TEIN, not a distributor) We do have 1 set in stock. Nice buy Scion4life! -Steve 8) Pimpe_Ok 03-03-2005, 06:38 PM  looks clean how much how much me likey..... bBist 03-03-2005, 06:50 PM  looks clean how much how much me likey..... $160.- -Steve 8) FrankenScion 03-03-2005, 06:53 PM Can you stop these halfway? I have pinstriping on my hood I like to show off. B2FiNiTY 03-03-2005, 06:54 PM You cannot. FrankenScion 03-03-2005, 06:55 PM thanks XBman 03-09-2005, 04:01 AM make a DIY and i would buy one..... B2FiNiTY 03-10-2005, 01:28 AM Does tein have the strut tower bar out for the xB to match the hood dampners? bBist 03-10-2005, 04:54 AM Does tein have the strut tower bar out for the xB to match the hood dampners? Sorry, they don't... -Steve 8) firesquare 03-10-2005, 07:12 AM are they powerful when its hot? i know gas cylendars act differently in the summer/winter. would i have to worry about gettin a CF hood (of course from you, rolled edges, drool) will it fly away or come up very fast? hope my question makes sense. its 3 AM and im bored LuminicsBulbs 03-11-2005, 03:18 PM They are pricey compared to stock but I think they are worth every penny. You will also score extra points in a shows for having aftermarket ones instead of stock ones. Ads some personality to the front. richdog 03-13-2005, 01:34 PM Windowtint needs to add pics of his diy struts. It looks much more logical than the tien struts because they definatley don't get in the way of the engine bay. $160.00 is rediculous for the I've got a tien product on my car look. I bought the same struts as windowtint spent around 45 bucks with hardware and it will look just as nice when installed.Oh darn........it just won't have a sticker that says I overpayed for a tien product that does the same function as my 45 dollar struts I modded myself. Call it what you want but I call it saving about $115 dollars for another mod. FrankenScion 03-13-2005, 02:09 PM Windowtint needs to add pics of his diy struts. I've seen Tein overlays you can put on them............lol :lalala: richdog 03-13-2005, 02:13 PM Yeah I think randode sells them but I don't need THE NAME on my struts to make me feel good....thanks anyway Scion4life 03-13-2005, 02:15 PM Well I guess some people are happy with the TIEN's and some are not.I do think the haters are a little off,if someone wants the best, then they buy the best, some people are happy with generic! Fruit loops tast better than fruit puffs  windowtint 03-13-2005, 05:31 PM Windowtint needs to add pics of his diy struts. It looks much more logical than the tien struts because they definatley don't get in the way of the engine bay. I really don't want to post alternative hood strut styles IN his Sale thread. I'd be ____ed if someone did that in one of my threads I was trying to sell something in (although that'll never happen - I'll never attempt to sell anything on SL.com again). if you follow my "www" button below, there are a few pics buried in there. The page's not been updated in about 6 months - so much of it is very old outdated xB stuff (I quit taking pics of 'recent' mods - I already know what I've done, never felt the need to make sure everyone else did too) anyhow - need a strut pic - they're on my photobucket in the WWW below BTW - there's nothing WRONG with the TEIN struts. They're EASY to install - good if you're mechanical idiot, they look ok, got 'bling' points for rice shows, but they are still mounted backwards. FrankenScion 03-13-2005, 05:35 PM That's a very clean ride windowtint, love the wheels. bumble996 03-14-2005, 07:48 PM 2 thumbs up for Tein Bonnet Dampers... http://www.scionlife.com/gallery/data/500/10506tein_p_rev.jpg http://www.scionlife.com/gallery/data/500/10506tein2_rev.jpg Romanova 03-20-2005, 01:34 AM Ummm... why would you leave your stock hood prop on with the Tein dampers? dinkjs 03-21-2005, 03:44 AM Ummm... why would you leave your stock hood prop on with the Tein dampers? You generally wouldnt.....and I have no idea why they did....forgot maybe :eyebrow: MattyRattyPoo 03-21-2005, 05:32 AM Does any one know how to remove that white plastic peace that holds the hood prop?? Ive had the Tein hood dampeners for like 3 months and I still cant get that stupid plastic piece of!! It's freaken hard!! uncompiled 03-23-2005, 05:21 PM The TEIN dampers are completely bolt-on right? I have the redline tuning ones, which are riveted to my hood, but I was just thinking about replacing my hood with a carbon fiber hood... I was just wondering, so I figured I'd ask before I started drilling into the carbon fiber. MattyRattyPoo 03-23-2005, 06:04 PM The TEIN dampers are completely bolt-on right?
