Talk to your scion sales consultant ... they might hold the car for ya ... as long as you give them a time frame ... they're usually pretty cool about it ... can't hurt to ask

borrowing and financing is the same thing except for financing you get a percentage rate and borrowing you dont. but thanks for pointing that out for me.

You know what? We all have to start somewhere, give the kid a break...
atleast he wants to pay for it, some kids just have ____ handed to them and have no sense of earning something on their own...

Hey Vee, don't sweat it, if that one is meant to be yours then you will get it, and if you don't, there will be more... just relax and keep on truckin!!!

borrowing money doesnt have nothing to do with affording the car. If that was the case 99% of us here wouldnt have a car because we have to all borrow money from the bank. Just some of us are getting butt sucked in interest rates while others arent paying none. Weigh out your options and tell me what one you think sounds better.

Theres a good chance they'll hold it for you if you can afford to put a couple bucks down on it. Thats how we do it here. Good luck!

Well put Exclusive. The same goes for living with one's parent(s). A bunch of my cousins moved back with their parents after college and I laughed at them. They all bought nice houses with the money they saved and everyone thinks I'm the one who hasn't grown up because I still live in a one-bedroom ****hole.

It just ain't fair :?

Yep you gotta save while you can, once you get all thoughs bills comming its hard to really move up in life unless your one of the few of us who is making $50K + a year. Just dont make it to long other wise your parents are gonna hate you  jk.

you know what sucks is the fact the guy is making efforts to buy a car and then he hears some jerk off say something like that to him. speak from a point of position not when you know nothing of his situation.

tell your dad to paypal it to you! Can't go wrong with paypal!

Not a good idea, then he has to pay 3% extra just for the transaction. Not only that but PayPal can be a pain in the :) sometimes. Just be patient and go down there when he gets back. Just ask the dealer to hold it for you until he gets back. Try and scrape up some kind of money for the dealer to hold so they wont have no problem holding the car for you.

Step dad sounds like a good guy. Theres not to many out there like that at least not that generous..

If you have a checking account he can always deposit the money into your account.

For deposit purposes he doesn't have to be on the account.

So, just get him to deposit the money into your account and then write a check to Scion.

I was gonna say have the money wired via Western Union from where his dad is to somewhere he is. May cost a little bit, but it would ge him the car.

I've tried the Western Union thing with my dad before. It just costs too much money. Especially if you're talking about $14k. Having him deposit it into his step-son's account is just the easiest way, as long as they're both with a national bank.

Just remember, if he deposits a check into your account and he's out of the state, then you'll most likely have to wait 5 business days before your bank will release funds. Otherwise, if your step-dad can deposit cash, you'll have immediate access to it.

Good luck.

Or... if he's up for it, he can overnight you a check you can take to the dealer for like $100. That typically holds a car in my experience.

And on the other hand... I'm sure you'll find more black auto xB's in the area ;) maybe it's a sign that something with THAT car, isn't good enough for you.

there don't charge you is you transfer money from your checking account to the paypal account and if you pay with the paypal crdit card, that is linked to your paypal acount, you can get a cash back reward! if you need a paypal check, that doesn't cost much.

I second that ! I bought from Carson myself...good experience.

I got a cheap flight on Southwest airlines and drove my car back. Much better availiability than I-10 Scion.

I got a cheap flight on Southwest airlines and drove my car back. Much better availiability than I-10 Scion.

My friend Andrew and I had a HORRIBLE experience at Scion of the Desert, they actually tried selling us an Xa with 500 miles on it and just about every body panel with scratches on it as "NEW"...took them over 3 hours just to get their crap together so we could pick the car up (wash, wax, paperwork, etc)...This is WITH an appointment by the way......

after the deal was all completed they tried screwing my friend for more money by including some nice fake charges in the paperwork, 40 for "tire fee", 170 for documentation fee (when they had told us 45 dollars)

We almost left several times and I begged my friend to just forget it and buy from Carson like Sean and I did...but he was in too much of a hurry....sucks...probably one of the most shady dealers I've dealt with recently...

We checked I-10 Toyota before we went to Desert Scion..they didn't have CRAP for a selection, and the salespeople didn't seem at all interested in selling cars...

I firmly suggest you check out Carson, they deserve your business and will cut you some slack when it comes to needing more time or whatever...
It's only about 1 more hour from I-10 toyota or Desert Scion...the drive is well worth it...

Support the dealers that deserve your money is my point
