the stock intake gave a little air hiss sound while switching gears, almost like a turbo sound. does your newer intake create a louder sound air sound? does it get that sound at all?

the stock intake makes that hissing sound, due to i being somewhat like a cold air intake. you should still get somewhat of a hissing sound from a new intake, short / CAI. and it should be a lil louder kind of like a boxer engine. this is on my TC i dont know about the others.

What intake did you get? I have the Injen RD CAI and mine get's a real loud growl when reved and has a hissing sound when I accelorate. Doesn't sound like a turbo, but does sound like an expensive intake. (which it was).

I always thought the hissing sound was from the muffler, not the intake. Whenever I listen for it it sounds like it's coming from the back right. :eyebrow:

the hissing noise comes from teh throttle body
and yes that noise is still there even with an aftermarket intake

My intake makes that sound at low rpms 2200 and below. I have a Weapon R Secret Weapon Intake.

Did your engine seem like it was running a tad better w/ the different airflow or is the stock comparable?

From the post I read before about how the stock filter is better then the K&N (because the stock lets less particles in)--- i dont even think im going to change.

That hissing sound went away after I installed the DC Header. Or it is still there and the extra exhaust noise is over powering it.

headers do tend to be a bit louder... im sure it's still hissing.

I noticed mine actually does it pretty loud when the gas pedal is depressed either 1/8" or 1/4". I kind of like the way it sounds.

so does your guys's aftermarket intakes add a louder sound that sounds like a hiss/turbo/BOV?

i have the weapon r secret weapon and when i step on the peddal it makes this really loud growl i love it. If i dont accelerate a lot i can still hear the hissing. I love it and i can feel a difference in throttle response. personally i think weapon r made a really good intake. I did have a little trouble putting it on though. the couplers came floded so they werent round so it was really hard to got them over the throttle body and intake pipe.

i just installed the weapon r intake today, the couplers they came with are crap the one that goes to the throttle body needs a 10 degree elbow in it so it fits smoothly, it looks like there could be air getting in between the pipe and the housing. It just doesnt fit good. this next part may be my fault but i keep getting a vibration when i hit about 5k, if anyone who has this intake has this problem let me know. i cant find where the vibration is

Ya that sound definitly is coming from your throttle body im guessing it's because when you accelerate the engine sucks air in pretty hard and all that air passes by the throttle body and the throttle body wall and creates a whistle but the more you open up the throttle the less you'll hear..much like you whistling with your lips. my tc does it too and it's only when i tap on the accelerator for a quick sec then it goes away you can only do it at lower rpm for me
