A friend had an idea to do a small scoop on the stock tC hood right above where a SRI would be to get better air flow. So I told him I could do it for him and this is how the project started. Any input/comments positive or negative.

First thing I did was do a rub out on a piece of paper of the hood lines so I could make the intake flow with the lines of the tC and not look like some sh*tty ebay bolt on that doesn't even work.

I then measured where the filter for the intake is located so I could do the scoop right above the filter.

From that I started on a template and matching the lines on the hood to the template so it would all flow nicely.

After the final template is made to the perfect shape and every measurement is double checked I then started to bend the template to the rough shape of the body lines to match the hood. Once that is done I place double sided tape to each corner and made the lines of the hood again and made sure the opening was sufficient to supply a good amount of air.

When the template is stuck to the hood I made a second cutout so I could have a template of the style lines on the scoop when so when I was shaping the metal I could make it the right height.

When your done finding the right bends you want its time to center punch and tradc the template onto the sheet metal and then cut out the metal on the beverly shear.

So with the blank I started doing the bends with a T-dolly, body hammer and a flange/seamer tool.

After I got the rough shape I placed it on the hood and started doing final adjustments and make sure everything was up to par.

ok dumb question!

but if you leave your car parked without any cover and it rains...
all the rain water would land on your intake if you have a short ram. Would that cause some kind of damage to your when you start it?

no just think about people with vented hoods....i like it but maybe do it the other way so air goes in when driving...if u need some cad work done let me know

Lol I'm going to fab somthing up so water will not go in. As for having the opening facing the other way I'm not doing that. Having the opening the other way allows more air to enter because that is where the high pressure is on the car. If you notice on the passenger's side by the wipers there are slits cut out in the plastic the goes to the engine bay. That's because a lot more air get in there at 30mph+ then the front of the car

Wtf, how and why would it put dirt over the front window?

Air from the grill throws debris through the motor compartment through the vent. Just wondering.

Damn Frizz! I'm definitely watching this. Definitely want to see this completed. This friend of yours wouldn't happen to be on Team Sciontific, would they? BTW this is Chris from your team.

all the vented cf hoods i've seen had the slit towards the botom center of the hood, this will sit right over the SRI. Any rain water would run down the hood into the scoop and into the SRI.

I'm interested to see what you'll come up with to counter this. Without disrupting airflow.

I'm assuming once this is cut up and installed in it will be painted to match the hood?

You're doing a great job keep it up.

hmm this would be interesting with an ARC intake

With the position of the opening facing the windshield it seems like it will function more like a vent rather than a scoop. Air flow seems like it will flow similar to a reverse cowl where it goes through the front grills and out the vent. Either way there will be more flow.

And, as long as the filter isn't completely soaked ambient engine temperatures of 100+ deg Fahrenheit will dry that puppy up quickly and without a problem. What exactly are you planning on doing to prevent rain water from entering? Should be pretty interesting.

Sick job so far! Lookin' forward to seeing the final product.

hey so far it looks good. keep up the good work. reminds me of the custom vent someone put on their front bumper on here for their CAI.

Will act more as a vent then a hood scoop. Theres a reason why hood scoops face forward and not backwards.
