I just about have my wife talked into letting me buy an xB. I plan to go with 18 in. rims with 215/35/18s which are just a tiny bit taller than the stock wheels/tires.

I hope to lower it too, but he's the potential problem...

The car will be my daily driver to work and back driving solo. Hobby-wise I play guitar and bass so I'll need to haul a couple hundered pounds of gear occassionally.

There will also be times when the family piles in...here's the catch...we're all...um....gorditas y gordos for the most part...figure 700 to 900 lbs of human when 3 or 4 of us are riding in the box. If I lower the car 1.5 to 2.0 inches, am I asking for trouble with bottoming out the suspension or rubbing tires?

I have the stock 15" steel wheels with Tein S-Tech springs on a 1.7" front and 2.0" rear drop. The other day, I carried 4 people (myeself included) totaling ~725lbs. I hit a moderate bump and fully compressed my suspension with a nice *thud*. Mind you, that's only happened once, but I'm always overly careful about my vehicle load. Never had any problems with 3 people @ about 525 lbs. Hope this helps. Good luck with all the mods.

i had the exact same setup with a 2" drop, no tire rubbing, but you will definately have problems with bumper/muffler draggage....

I have had over 1100 lbs of human weight, in my xb, (lb for lb 702 scion evo is the biggest chapter) That is for club members, I bottomed on speed bumps, and drug my magnaflow muffler on a couple of bumps, but we made a 60 mile round trip no worse for ware. Bill

:rofl: I bet you're right. Hell, 5 of us sat in a stock xA once and it looked like it had a 2" drop.

I don't think you'd have any problems BoxcarWillie with the 18" wheels and weight, but if you lower it you will.

My suggestion: Don't lower it.

Wow, boxcarwillie you sound just like me. I play bass and plan to use my xB as a daily driver with 18s and TRD springs for that 1" lower. My vintage ampeg cabinet weighs 130lbs by itself. My wife and I plan to lose a lot of weight this year. Hopefully this won't be a problem with the new box.

Actually, we have an '04 Odyssey, but my wife like's to throw in "special" requirements that make car shopping oh, so fun... I was set on a used Protege5 (before I ever drove an xB) but she says that the second car has to be able to carry the four of us and some stuff on short trips. My 14 year old son is already over 6'1" so he's too tall for the back of the Protege5, but fits just fine in an xB.

I'll give the gravitational lowering concept some more thought...but please keep the comments and suggestions coming.
