I'm going to be getting a new scion, probably signing papers on the 7th/8th of March. I would really like to have the car ASAP so I can do a little modding and breaking it in before I potentially take it out on a road trip (from around Boston, MA) to Myrtle Beach, SC. How quickly can I get the car?

The dealer I am going to has the car with no options installed at all. I think this is a new thing for scion dealers (however, one dealership i went to installed all of their options as they got them and REFUSED to uninstall them! [including floormats!!]), and I would hope it doesn't take too much time for them to get that stuff installed. What else would they have to do? Would it be possible for me to have the car the next day? Is that going to cost me extra?

Thanks from a soon to be xB owner!

oh and this is a TCM xB manual which I am pretty sure they have on the lot @ the dealership... which would mean the time between when I order it and get it should be short.... just wondering, can it be done in a matter of hours?

It should only be 1 day

They will have to wash the car and prep it.

Heck, you mite be able to drive it off the lot
the same day you do the paperwork!

The xB is easy. It depends on what accessories you are getting. Many of them we have in stock and some are easy enough to install while you are signing papers for the car. TRD stuff takes longer as it comes from a warehouse in CA and not the local port (New York in your case). Worst case is a week.

i signed papers at 9pm and they said theyd rush to be done by midnight, but i had them take their time and i got it the next morning. But id advise to do the mods yourself. Most are easy and the dealer charges twice the price, example....Hotchkins Strut bar from dealer $ 300 or so. Get onile for $150 after ship and about 10 bolts later its installed.

Hell yeah! I thought you were worried about a pile of accessories. The radio and hub caps takes 10 minutes. Sometimes, the weekend guys may not have access to the parts department, but if you buy on a weekday during the morning, they'll have you out in a flash.

There are even some of us who can deal with the radio and hub caps on weekends. It takes a sales manager who is willing to pick up a screw driver and a parts department who is willing to give that managers the keys to the stock room, but it can be done.

I came back the next evening after talking with the dealer for the first time. They got my Camo box from a sister dealership. I was out in 2 hours, total, for both days...

I was told 3 weeks, allotment expected at the port on the 26th then approx. 7 days where its in the hands of the teamsters. Then it will just show up at the dealership and they will call. I am expected to go down at that point and take "possession" of the car. Then it will be a day for the moon roof, a day for the leather seats and a day for all the other stuff then I get my ride.

Okay 3 weeks have passed. I call the dealer, he says the computer has a confusing status and that he will check around to find out more. 2 days later no call. I find it totally unbelievable that a company that sells cars cannot tell me where the car is. I mean walmart know where every last product is in all of its pipelines, Toyota should know where its cars are.

Update: Could be a coincidence but when I called the CRM the car suddenly showed up. Technically it was one day over 3 weeks so, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Here is the next kicker, I order all the TRD accessories for the car. The dealer claims that Scion will not allow them to order the parts until the car is actually here and I sign the loan papers. This means 4 days of waiting for the parts to come in so they can be installed. Result is an extra week of waiting. But she is almost here. Yeah!

I got my SW TC in Aug 04 rite off the showroom floor. Body kit, 18" Super 7's, lip spoiler. Drove it out of the showroom door about 2 hours later. Then got the TRD exhuast for X-mas woohoo happily ever after LOL

I picked it up same day. They ordered the wrong color for someone else and it was the one I wanted. Already prepped from the night before.
