so i got this idea about trying and taking a piece of solid carbon fiber and i want to cut it to basically the shape of the heat shield protector that is on the underside of the hood then i want to do like a collage of stickers and clear coat it and mount it up under there

couple question as i dont think ive seen anyone do this if so please show some pics or it didnt happen

next would it be safe to remove that heat shield or should i just leave it behind the board

also would the heat melt the carbon fiber at all. i think it will be fine as my carbon fiber engine cover is fine

im just brainstorming ideas as im not sure which way to take this

dont know why you would want cf if you are going to put stickers on it

 

you would get discoloration where the exhaust manifold/or header (if applicable) is, just like you should (or soon will) be starting to get on the engine cover near the front. If you really want to do this I would make it a show piece and put it in only @ shows. A piece that big would be pretty spendy.

 

well i was gonna leave some spacing to see carbon fiber spots. i dont wanna remove it i want it int here all the time so wat material would your recommend instead of carbon fiber as yes its expensive

 

if you are just puting stickers on it use a piece of galvanized steel and save some money either way the stickers will get messed up quick if you are driving around with it in there.

I would just put the stickers around the edge of the heat shielding or get an air diversion panel and put them there. You will get better looking results but yes it will not be as original.

 

stickers should be fine, hot rod guys have been putting their stickers from their parts under the hood for years

 

yeah ive seen people do it many of times just never seen anyone rock it on a tC. ether way once its all done i want to clear coat it really heavy to try and help from the stickers not staying stuck down

 

so wat would be the lightest material that could with stand the heat

 

I don't see why you couldn't just put the stickers on the underside of the hood itself.

because first i dont want to remove the fire insualtion that is under the hood and also if i ever wanted to remove it i wouldnt able to with out replacing the hood

 

Sure you could. Sand paper does wonders.

 

sand paper/goo gone/wd-40/pb blast/razor blade, all of this will remove stickers

 

Or, just cover them up by putting the insulation back on...
