Question about jumper wire from cluster fuse
Hey guys, I am now the proud owner of an '05 Scion Xb, and boy do I love this car! Anyways, the first night I drove my box I realized that the back light for the instrument cluster was not working. I thought maybe it was a fuse and I found a jumper wire from the 10amp fuse for the cluster to what looked like a ground on the side of the fuse panel. I called the dealer to set up a time to look at it, and later the next night the back light was suddenly working, and continued to work fine for the next 2 days. I took it in anyways since, but after looking at it, they told me they needed it for 2 more days, and I've got no other way to get to work so I just picked my car up and plan to take it back in a few weeks. Now my cluster back light is not coming on at all, but I noticed they removed the jumper wire. So anyways, after all this my question is, what is that jumper wire for? The tech stated on the paper work that this was a problem, but he suspected the cluster may need to be replaced. Just trying to get some thoughts as I will be doing a lot of night driving in the next 4 weeks due to work, and this is the reason I can't leave my car with them, so I was hoping to put the jumper wire back in there until I finish my training and can take it in to be fixed. Thanks in advance!
