Starter Issue
My Scion is a 2006 and my starter would not shut off and actually burned my nutrual wire in half because of this. So we had the starter and the battery replaced because we were told the low voltage on the battery cause the starter to short out and continue to run. Drove the care for two days and the sarter, as I was driving engaged again. I pulled over and everything seemed ok, started to drive again and the grinding started again so I pulled over and turned off the engine. When I tried to restart the starter would not turn over anymore. The garage I take it to replaced the starter again and can not get it to mes up again. I think there is an undrlying problem here and so does my garage. Any suggestions will help please.
Hummm sounds fishy to me - the starter is powered and mechanically engaged into the flywheel ring gear by the starter solenoid which is activated by the ignition switch via wires under the dashboard. I would start looking at the wires under the dash and in the engine compartment leading to the starter motor first for bare spots or starter wire cables that are loose enough to make contact with the the starter soleniod connections. Low battery voltage is NOT going to keep the starter engaged. Also the starter circuit should not activate without the clutch pressed in so you may want to check that wiring as well.
