Default has anyone done an angry-look hood extension on an xB? pics

coming from VW's, one of the meaner looking mods that a lot of mk4 ('99-up body style) and some mk3 ('93-'98 ) owners do is a "boser" hood.

what the boser is is a welded-on hood extension to come down over part of the grille and lights in a way to make the car look mad.

i'd be curious to see how this looks on an xB. i think it could be pulled off, i just want to see pics before i dropped the money to get a body shop to fab this.

so i'm lookin for pics of something like this on an xB. anything similar, not looking for some tacky bolt-on or stick-on eyelids.

That's got a lot of potential.

C'mon, just bite the bullet and show us how it's done. Somebody's gotta step up to the plate and since it's your idea...

I'm new here, and I was just wondering. Since that piece is molded to the hood, and sits over the head lights, when you close the hood, it doesn't hit the headlights, or scratch them? Or is there enough clearence? Thanks.

What bodykits are those? Those are hotter than Pamela Anderson without hepatitis.

Yea no shyt lol. But do they have certain names.

Is it possible to fit these to the XB you think? I know the license plate is on the bumper and would need glassed over but other than that are there significant size differences that would make the fit really bad?

I think one is called the Topline bB Type S or something like that... that's the funkier looking kit on the white one. The black one is more my style. I don't think I've seen anyone stateside with this kit... so you could be the first.

The opr8r made his own version of the FFF before he got his Open deck grille. There are various peeps that have eyelids also. I have a set of prototype bBist.com eyelids.

those grille/eyelid kits are exactly what i'm talking about when i say i don't want a cheap bolt-on looking piece. as far as clearance over the headlights, since you're custom fabricating a hood extension, you can make it come out and and down as much as you see fit. it's a lot of work. basically a nicely fitting piece of metal needs to be fabbed to extend the hood out and down, then welded, smoothed, and painted until it looks like a factory piece.

i wish they made a hood w/ this already done...but then i guess everyone would do it.

I have a hood in the shop that's been re-fabbed and prepped (haven't bothered to paint it yet), would be an interesting change - but, the only thing is, how in the hell would I reach up under the extension to grab the hood release latch. I'd have to fab an extension onto that too....

that... and I don't know if the xB body lines really lend themselves aesthetically to that mod. The lines don't flow as well into a center point like they do on the Golf/Jetta bodies. It might look/work OK - but I think it's a much nicer looking mod on the VW's

you got it, that becomes something you have to do something about as well. you might be able to rig a cable release somewhere farther down in the grille/core support area that you can reach, or might be able to slip a finger up there still once the hood latch is popped.

i don't think a boser would look good on a stock xB, nor do i think it would look good on a stock golf. gotta be low and have a mean stance already, and then i think the xB will look just as good with the boser hood as a lowered VW would.

looking forward to seeing it. i know i won't be the first to do it- i just don't have the funds to put that kind of money into this car purely for the sake of looks.
