Why do you say that? ptuning has has the Injen for $230, whereas the K&N is only $165 (at Hop Up, as mentioned previously). The K&N also claims to give you a few more HP than the Injen model...

I'd say the K&N is cheaper and better. 8)

the injen cold air is 230, the injen short ram is 158 for the black polished one, and look at the dyno shoot out, its a stickey on this forum, plus ive looked at other dynos before i went with the injen short ram. heres a link

http://www.ptuning.com/html/search-result.cfm?keyword=PTIS2100

for our cars short ram is the way to go, its cheaper and better, the cold airs are just much to restrictive.

$151.95 for the chrome one
$158.95 for the black one.

Injen claims "Dyno testing shows an additional 5.6 HP to the wheels!", and K&N claims a 8.1HP gain with their CAI... Not that you'd notice a 2.5HP difference between the two, but I'm shooting for all the additional HP I can get! I've been using a K&N air filter on my T-bird for almost 11 years now (since the car had 3 miles on the odometer!) and it has performed flawlessly. Just rinse and re-oil the filter every 50,000 miles (about once every 4 years for me).

I think I'm gonna stick to something (or in this case, a company) that I know and have purchased products from before. To each his own, though! :)

BTW, what's the main difference(s) between a short ram and a CAI (other than size)? Since the CAI is a factory option, I was under the impression it was the "preferred" way to go... :ponder:

once again look at the sticky at the top showing intake dyno shoot out. the gains are less than the injen short ram. thank you for your time.

The K&N Typhoon wasn't tested, so how are you comparing it?

From the dyno test:

Intakes: (in the order that they were tested)
1. Stock
2. AEM Cold Air
3. Injen Short Ram
4. SPFR Cold Air
5. EL Prototypes Cold Air

It's also interesting that the Injen and AEM models progressively got worse, and the Injen lost almost an entire HP during the span of 3 tests... :eyebrow:

AEM:
95.86 hp / 99.09 lb/ft.
95.63 hp / 98.68 lb/ft.
95.14 hp / 98.00 lb/ft.

Injen:
96.80 hp / 100.59 lb/ft.
96.25 hp / 100.30 lb/ft.
95.93 hp / 100.48 lb/ft.

I'm just a man looking for answers.

You really can't go wrong with a company like K&N, look at thier reputation.

Yeah, plus I've used their products for over 10 years with no complaints or problems. I can't say that about most manufacturers I've bought from. I still have more research to do, but the Typhoon is leading my list ! :)
