View Full Version : Throttle Body coolant bypass? xmetalx 03-03-2005, 06:32 AM I have heard of people doing this and since its a free mod id be interested in doing it too, heard no gains really, maybe 1 hp or less, any info would be great, thanks! -Keith- 03-03-2005, 07:09 AM lol old school honda mod..... lol it aint worth it... use to give some hondas speratic idel cseika 03-03-2005, 07:31 PM Well.... since its free or costs next to nothing...i'll say its worth it if you don't live in places where your TB would freeze up.... It is actually quite simple... took me less than 20min... Its like unplug the 2 rubber hoses that direct the coolant to the TB and back to the Engine.. Connect them together so they don't flow through the TB anymore.... Thatz it! I really didn't notice a big difference, but theoretically I am getting a slightly cooler air. Difference is there but don't expect to hang with corvettes after the mod. No problem for me whatsoever... i did it at 850 miles... now i'm at 9800 miles... 1_Sick_XB 03-03-2005, 08:59 PM it doesnt help unless all coolant is rerouted from the whole intake manifold. otherwise a waste of time. engifineer 03-03-2005, 09:01 PM it doesnt help unless all coolant is rerouted from the whole intake manifold. otherwise a waste of time. true! Scott17 03-03-2005, 09:05 PM This is one that has more drawbacks than ANY performance gains. Old-school thinking for modern cars seldom really works. VanillaRice 03-03-2005, 09:21 PM it doesnt help unless all coolant is rerouted from the whole intake manifold. otherwise a waste of time. true! I think engifineer agrees with you Scott17, but I can't really tell. kacosta 03-03-2005, 09:30 PM   why do something that will do absolutely nothing exept ruin your cars ability to idle at various speeds? you can do it if you want but let me know how your car runs after the fact   engifineer 03-04-2005, 02:10 AM it doesnt help unless all coolant is rerouted from the whole intake manifold. otherwise a waste of time. true!
