View Full Version : Another stupid question Q-Bert 03-03-2005, 05:22 PM Ok, here goes. What is the difference between axle-back and cat-back exhaust? Oni-Haya 03-03-2005, 05:30 PM just what it says ... the axle back starts just before the axle and the cat back starts at the cat. TheDanger 03-03-2005, 07:46 PM Thanks guys...I learn better visual and im pretty sure others do to. unlmtdndeavor 03-04-2005, 06:13 AM  nice work, very artistic  Q-Bert 03-08-2005, 09:20 PM So cat-back would replace everything up to the manifold? THE_DON 03-08-2005, 09:26 PM So cat-back would replace everything up to the manifold? No... Just up to the cat. It goes, engine - exhaust manifold - cat - exhuast pipe - resonator - more pipe - muffler - tip -THE DON Q-Bert 03-09-2005, 01:42 AM What's a good brand of cat-back to get. I'd like to have a deeper tone, not so buzzy. unlmtdndeavor 03-09-2005, 02:53 AM get one custom done. or check out magnaflow's website for a clip of their catback RacerxB 03-16-2005, 12:33 PM cat back=u replace more of the exhaust system axle back= basically the exhaust and little bit of the pipe prior and of course the tip dgHotLava 03-16-2005, 12:59 PM no cat back exhausts...the cat, mid pipe and resonator are all welded together... so its really axle back or manifold back... you can go to a muffler shop and they will cut after the cat and weld in new stuff, but its no shade tree mechanic stuff... Is that the good example or am I too late to see the picture(s)? Fujiz_xb 03-16-2005, 01:15 PM some good info. Scion05BOPxB 03-17-2005, 01:30 AM Does the xB have a flex pipe just south of the exhaust manifold stock? My cavalier does and I just had to replace it when it broke. The flex pipe, down tube, cat and o2 sensor bung, along with both flanges are on one tube... about $350. I just put on a Pace Setter header that replaced the flex pipe with a more standard downtube. dgHotLava 03-17-2005, 01:53 AM no flex pipe... |
