View Full Version : Baking some Hot Pink in the oven . . .
mindoculae 09-16-2010, 03:39 AM Color makes them theft-proof, but the idea to bake the color on in
the kitchen oven is fascinating.
Owner does not indicate what kind of paint, but its multiple layers of
her own mix applied over a primer base.

EastwickTC 09-16-2010, 04:02 AM More proof that women do fascinating stuff in the kitchen, their natural habitat. Just kidding.
RedneckwithanxB 09-16-2010, 07:26 AM The list of usefulness of my own GF just grew...
emrules2001 09-16-2010, 11:26 AM That actually looks really good... hmmm
chicotunner07 09-16-2010, 12:07 PM lol, honey whats cookin in the oven?
why a big fresh batch of wheels of course!! what? were you expecting muffins or somethin?? PPFFFFFFF, lmao
tCvirus 09-16-2010, 04:07 PM It's the girls like this that make the rest of us look bad when it comes to modding our cars and actually know WTF we are doing. -hangs head in shame- lol
Chrisb319 09-16-2010, 05:27 PM second time I've seen this girls car posted on SL for what it's worth I've seen much much worse...
On a related note, she should not be using the oven in her kitchen to do her wheels.
JCarroll839 09-17-2010, 05:15 AM Hmm... baking in the oven in your home? Probably not too safe.
wlfpck 09-17-2010, 04:23 PM Baking it in the oven is fine. I've seen multiple posts on various forums where people have baked their wheels.
Baking the wheel before painting will allow the paint to stick better. Baking it after the paint is applied will speed up the curing time necessary.
The same can be achieved with a heat gun if you have one.
I simply did mine during the summer and let the wheels sit out in the sun for a bit before and after the paint was applied.
Spicy_McHaggiz 09-18-2010, 02:19 AM If you paint during the summer, make sure you're not painting in too hot of weather or having a problem with Humidity. Both will severely affect your end product.
I'm just going to say this is a crappy thread. Why hate on someone who mods their car? Sure, Pink wheels on a blue tC may look bad, but look how many people paint their stockers weird colors like neon green and so forth. You fail at trying to make fun of someone for doing this, and its down right dumb.
highvoltage1 09-18-2010, 02:25 AM Honestly it actually doesnt look bad. And tcVirus um its attitudes like that that make you look bad. Plus she is actually doing something many guys on here have so that makes her stupid? What does your car look like if your so awesome at modding? There is nothing wrong with her car. Its better than many of the rides i have seen on here. Plus baking them in the oven is actually a good idea. Yal people are stupid if you think it doesnt help the process.

I'll have to agree. She's got balls. In a good way... and not literally... mentally.
She's got it.

Not to mention that she actually primered and then painted.

rougenite 09-19-2010, 12:04 PM isnt the whole scion thing about being different? Pink rims dark paint= different...i personally dont think id ever do that but to each their own :)
highvoltage1 09-19-2010, 01:48 PM she cooked em in her house thats the fail
Hey the Brick Oven Pizzeria was closed! LOL
Hey people bake there engine covers in there home ovens dont they? Yes. This is just four large items. Its gonna stink for sure but hey it works. I mean where else would she bake them and it sure as heck is a lot cheaper than powdercoating them.
Murphys_Law 09-19-2010, 03:17 PM ...then cook in it later, chemicals where you eat... but im sure it only causes cancer in rats.
RedneckwithanxB 09-19-2010, 03:38 PM Its called a $30 spare oven that you buy from craigslist
SCIONOSIS 09-19-2010, 05:13 PM I agree w/ Murphys Law. Even if everyone has done this in their kitchen, two wrongs don't make it right. Though, I can understand the mind set when modding your car on your own. I remember as a high school kid living at my parents' house and my pops would scream at me with his filipino accent about building model cars in my room with spray paint and such. So I'm not bashing anyone here. I know we've all done stupid things some time in our lives, but the nature of this persons process should not be promoted here on the forum. Right.

thats where mine came from, its a beautiful olive green and can make hotdogs on it while im baking parts
Hahaa, Spare Oven for the win. I'm with Murphy's Law on this. Thats just an all around bad idea. If you want your wheels colored, atleast do it the right way and have them professionally powder coated. Bright pink on a bright blue car, ohhh boy. Am I really the one crazy here? Or should I just swallow the cancer cake and have a funky color combo'd car.
