Default xA squeaking sound

I have a squeaking/chirping noise, pretty quiet, coming from the front end of my car, but the problem is that it only happens while the car is in motion, and between 1k and 2k RPM. So it's a little difficult to open the hood and try to hear where it's coming from, anybody have an idea on what's making the sound or had this happen to them before?

Sounds sort of like this

But I can't replicate the problem while the car is in park or neutral.

could it be your belts? this has got to be the most common problem/annoyance from the xA/B's. i think ive probably posted this like 5 times now but heres a link from toyota to adjust your belts:

http://tijil.org/Scion_TSBs/eg03107.pdf

all i had to do was adjust my belts and the noise was gone.
the factory tension is a bit too loose causing the chirping/squeaking noise your probably hearing. all you gotta do is tighten it!
and im not tryin to be a dik or nothin but the search bar is very handy, on a problem like this you could easily find 10+ threads for this subject :p.

Thanks for the help, I tried searching but didn't really know what to search for ("squealing, squeaking, ?__?")

Could it be the belt if it only happens while the car is in drive? Even if I'm rolling and shift to neutral and rev the engine to 1500 it doesn't make the sound.

thats exactly how mine was, i was baffled too, id bring it into the shop and when i tried to replicate the noise it wouldnt go! it only really made the noise when the engine was under a heavy load when taking off from a stand still, between 1000-2500rpm. it never happened to me when the car wasnt in gear and moving. just check your belts tension and then adjust them from there, ive seen some that are too tight and some too loose, both result in that annoying chirp and squeal.

if that doesnt work then start looking into your pulleys, maybe there off center, bent, loose, etc... im about as certain as i can be without seeing your car thats its the belts tho. good luck!
