Thanks guys. Just for an idea what's going on. The GM here sits on the dealer council board for Scion in the region. He's stoked on doing more grassroots events and such, and this is kind of the test event. We need traffic, so anything you can do to spread the word. We really need 100-150 cars to register. I saw the other thread and it sounds like there is a demand to have more stuff go on, and this is how it's going to happen.

Also if you're on Facebook and can help us out by searching for the "Scion of Kirkland" page and hitting like that'd be great.

Lets make this a killer event.

hey guys sorry bout this, but the registration page wasn't sync'd with our system right, so if you sent it in before about noon today we didn't get it, could you please re-register, and in the "coments" field include your vehicle details.

Thanks!

100-150 cars to register

good luck with that, its difficult in the PNW without trophies for darn near every single car. and limiting it to just toyota/scion. i hope it works out for u

sounds like this should be cool. is it going to be in the garage? ill see about supporting you guys. i may be on call though.

^ yeah im a jack. it is undercover.

you may want to make that a little bigger cause that is a selling point.

AWDios
09-25-2010, 02:00 AM
I don't think it'll be that hard, true we have a lot more trophies, but that's about how many show up for Toyotafest, and that's not even free.

Either way, thanks for the support, I'll pass that info on and see if we can make the undercover part a little bigger.

Ok so the event was a big success. Thanks to everyone that came out. Sorry I wasn't on here more towards the end, got swamped, and for some reason stopped getting the email notifications from being subscribed to the thread.

I hope everyone had a great time. Don't forget to go to http://www.facebook.com/scionofkirkland to vote for the peoples choice winner.

Also we want your feedback. Speak up here, on the Facebook page, send me an e-mail or send our General Manager an email. For those of you that stuck around to the end, Jim Roes (GM) wants feedback both on what we want for events, as well as what we want to see for Scion the brand. He sits on the dealer council for Scion in the region, and has the ear of the big wigs here, not to mention getting to meet with Akio Toyoda once a year or so. His e-mail is jim@toyotaofkirkland.com

Again, thanks to everyone that made it out!

Wasn't too thrilled with the behavior of other enthusiasts as they left the event. If I knew that people were going to act like that I probably just would have stayed home.
I go to shows for one purpose, to hang out.... not to show off and be obnoxious and give the entire scene a bad rep, I do not like being represented to the community like we were at the end of the show.

kkawana
10-17-2010, 04:23 AM
i'm guessing some of the excessive revving and bailing 30seconds after trophies given out... just a guess tho...

aworkinprogress
10-17-2010, 05:18 AM
ya i third that...seemed a little childish to me. like a big ____ing contest of who's bov and exhaust was loudest...the guy on the motorcycle didn't help the cause either...

Well I'm sorry to hear some of the actions of others put a damper on the rest of the event. I do encourage everyone to share their thoughts either on the facebook page, or with Jim. We are planning to do more events, and this was the first, so there's a bit of a learning curve as far as what's expected at these things.

the loud revving was really that much of an issue? geez. The bike was kind of annoying, but no need to cry about it..

how many awards were given and what were they for? best scion, best of show, etc?

kkawana
10-20-2010, 10:20 PM
best scion and runner up, honestly i dunno what other catagories there were.. but they are having peoples choice vote on their facebook page... open till oct 23

as for the reving... eh... i thought i saw somewhere in the rules about no excessive reving or burn outs etc... but i dont see it in this thread so maybe im mixing up shows... but in a semi-enclosed area... it does amplify it and making it semi annoying when it seems that people are reving to see how many alarms they can set off, as they are leaving the show... just my opinion...

Well I wasn't able to attend the event but I was reading that the Scion GM for the area is interested in knowing what kind of events and such there is a market for......

Well I say we do indeed want more events.....we loved it when there were dealership sponsered shows,BBQs,cruises.....

Although many people have wandered on from the scene, there is a large amount of people dedicated to their Scion or Toyota.....previous owners of said cars who have moved on to differant cars or trucks or even differant retailers like Mazda,Honda, and on and on.....

There is a need for these in the area.....it brings the people together, gives us something to do,and allows new people to meet the groups, clubs, and individuals who own these cars......

So please keep up with the great effort on the local level,we want it.....

I know as a customer I shop with my money where I feel welcome, and get good customer service....something that I have not received lately from a few retailers.....

thanks for putting on a fun get together for us.....there is always the people no matter what who disrupt....it is human nature to have a few idiots in the herd...

I think a lot of really nice cars and people that have not come to Scion events came to this. I think we hold our group to higher standard and expect not to see that kind of behavior. Unfortunately as said earlier this was one of their first events and hopefully learned what can happen. All in all not bad, nice mix, but I guess I am getting too old for this stuff...

Thanks again for the additional feedback guys, sat down with the GM again today to talk future stuff, sounds like we're going to try a poker run in conjunction with the toy run, and also a BBQ as a way of saying thanks for supporting the tC launch, will start seperate threads for those once we have the details down.

Again, I do urge people to send feedback to jim@toyotaofkirkland.com, as he's getting together with the regional Scion rep shortly, and wants to take this info to them. Not saying it will necessarily create results immediately or anything, just that it's a chance to be heard.

That being said Dustin (oh_canada) let me know that some of you sent some e-mails in, but got no response, so ran by the GM to ask him what's up, and he hasn't gotten anything other than the letter Dustin sent. You guys are welcome to cc me on anything rcarr@toyotaofkirkland.com and that way, if it doesn't get to him, I can print a copy and hand it to him direct.

again thanks guys! I'll keep coming by here, on occasion, but again PSTOC is where I am more often and the best way to reach me.

Lol no one's crying about it, i just dont understand why ppl have to be like that. I mean I guess if thats the only way you can show some self worth and manhood, but I don't wanna hear it. When I see a woman clutching her infant, holding his ears and running out of the parking garage it doesn't make me proud.

yeah I think the revving thing is something that generally comes with an outdoor event of that size, unfortunately we were in a parking garage where everything gets amplified.

On a side note, I think the woman with the infant was my wife lol.
