My reservations on the new location are two fold. First and most selfish is that Pavillions is a fifteen minute drive for me. The second is that I like finding the people that shake their heads when they see the box. Then you talk to them and let them sit in one and all of a sudden you have a convert. If it is just Scions meeting there will be no one to convert. The west side needs a car show location but it needs to be more than just Scions if it is going to be popular. If there is room in the Chik-fil-A for some serious cars then we need to number one make sure that no one in the complex is going to have a problem with the negatives that come with the show such as lack of parking and trash if there are no containers. If everyone at the center is OK then we need to get other car groups involved. A bunch a guys and their Scions is OK but a bunch of people checking out the Scions is even better.

malina
03-07-2005, 05:51 PM
Wow.

It is intended to be a Scion meeting for a reason. The Pavilions works fine for "converting" but maybe some people want to meet with other Scion owners closer to home. I know I would be willing to drive out to Avondale or East Mesa or even South Bumblefu** once in a while to give everyone who routinely drives a million miles to Pavilions a flippin' break. I like the idea of meeting at different locations and it is a little more fair that way. If you don't like it, don't go. Simple as that. With that said, your signature is spot on.

Double Wow,

I apologize Melina, I did not mean to get you so upset. Ed asked for an opinion and I gave it. In fact he and I were the only two to show up on Friday night at Sprso 2's place. I understand you were visting family and could not make it. I just point that out because it is about a 45 minute drive and I took it to meet other Scion owners. I have no problem with heading out to South Bumblefu** as you put it, I would just like to be sure there will be more than two Scions there when I do (no offense meant to Ed or Steve, it was great to see you). I know when I go to the Pavillions that there will be Scions. Even this past Saturday night when it was pretty much me and the southern AZ group (I mean for the whole parking lot). I think it would be great to move the location around especially if we are talking about just Scions. But I think it would be much better to have a west side car show develop into something for all car lovers, not just those of us that already know about Scions. I happen to be into hotrods and muscle cars and I have driven from one spot to another in the west valley trying to find an elusive car show that kept moving. It turned out that the shopping centers or at least not everyone in the shopping centers wanted the show in their location. I could have seen more cars if I had parked and watched the hotrods go from one center to the next to figure out where that night's spot would be. The west side needs a stable location such as the Pavillions.

malina
03-07-2005, 08:30 PM
I am hardly upset, just telling it how it is. I just don't see what a west side show has to do with a Scion meet.

Moondog
03-07-2005, 08:59 PM
Good, I am glad you were not upset, that certainly was not my goal while voicing my opinion. It just sort of sounded like you were, especially with the attack on my signature line.

malina
03-07-2005, 09:25 PM
Attack? Please. Your sig is an open invitation for insult. See you at the meet, Nancy.

Eddieg
03-07-2005, 09:51 PM
All right kids.......let's hold hands and sing a little kum-by-ya. Seriously this is not meant to be a trashing session. I would just like for things to be fair to everyone. The Pavillions is only 10 minutes from my house, and Avondale will be a 45 minute drive, the jest of this I guess is that I think that we should move things around a little bit. Kinda of make it even for everyone. I realize that not everyone is going to be able to meet everytime we go out.
I like going to the Pavillions I just don't see why we can't move things around a little so that we could hopefully gain more of a force in the Scion community. I did not take what Steve had to say personally and I don't think that anyone should.

I will try hard to make it. I will be out on that side of town already on Friday night and I figure at some point my wife is going to find a use for me at home.

I look forward to meeting you Nancy :nails:

Maybe pick certain weeks of the month for meets in the east, west and north valley.

I have a suggestion for the 12th that would be fun, I’m going to the Street Warriorz series at Speed World. Never been and I think it will be a night to remember. It would be cool if we all could meet up, it would be nice if I could race with another TC......... :ponder: :eyebrow: :)

The boxes, that would be too much fun. Also a gootime to find some more XA to come to the party. It is a Scion meet all in good fun, I bet we would have plenty of stories after that night, what does everyone say? Start spring off right with a bash at Street Warriorz.

Short notice, but it would be nice to have some of the Tucson crew make it also.

Whoa! That was crazy..
:silly: My 2 cents worth - I drive to pavillions every saturday from avondale, with the exception of the past saturday. Besides, I like to see something this way once in awhile.

9 Miles North of Bell Rd. on Grand (US 60) Racer entrance off Happy Valley Rd. Spectator's entrance on Jomax.

May be a little longer drive for the east and central guys, the west side should be a piece of cake.

Hey guys:

I was talking with Brian (owner of Avondale Toyota/Scion) earlier today; I invited him to come out this saturday to Chick-fil-A and demo some cars or Scion parts. He's very excited about the local Scion owners here in the valley, and even suggested that we could hold an event in his service drive (which is HUGE! by the way) sometime in the near future.

Another note: his Scion department will be up and running in seven days; big screen t.v.'s and he's welcome to having Scions meet up and chill there.

See you all Saturday!

Update: I spoke with the guys again today at Avondale Toyota/Scion. They will bring out their xB and "trick it out" with all of the upgrades that are available from the dealers.

Also, if this is anyone's first time out to a Chick-fil-A be sure to find me that evening for some freebies!

Ok, the address is:

1466 North Dysart Road
Goodyear, AZ 85338

*note*: use www.expediamaps.com to get a map or driving directions. The mapquest finder directs you south of I-10 on Dysart. The Chick-fil-A is actually on the north side of the 10.

Good turn-out - Fun to look at all of the cars - just like Mini Coopers - no two Scions are exactly alike.
Only negative was smacking all the bugs on the way home. Looks like it is going to be a "rich" spring insect season.
