Default Exhaust Solutions

Hey guys,

Got a problem again, My CEL light is on again, its due to the catalytic converter i think. Anyway I want to replace it but its a bit pricey and my milage is down a bit so i have to do something.

The dealer told me that one of the cats is in the header but im looking at it right now and it appears the both cats are underneath the car in the same length of pipe. So i would think i could pull that length and weld in two universal CCs.

Are there any header back systems out there that are comperable in price to the factory one?

You can get the CEL off by using the antifouler trick.... I would explain it but it is easily found with a search on this site... I removed my convertor completely and have no cel with this cheat...

Don't know what car you got ( xb, tc, xa) but xb's only got 1 cat , xa's only got 1 cat , tc's got 2 IIRC.
The other thing your calling a cat is the resonator on an xb, and if your cat is bad it means that your O2 sensors are shot ( or you did something to foul the cat , wrong gas, additive something of that type)

Read the codes that it threw and it will give you a better idea of what is really wrong. If you just replace the cat without fixin the problem that caused it, you'll just need to do it again.

Thanks for the info guys! I have had this problem recurring over the last year and a half, so i think Im going to fix it. The Code was Low Cat eff. But Damn those things are High$ to buy a bolt on. I might just ditch it or get a universal and weld it in. Probably swap the O2 sensors while im at it just as a tune up type thing.
