View Full Version : tC2 DASH... Rob_DESCENDANT 09-29-2010, 12:37 AM whats everyone's take on the new dash & gauge cluster...thumbs up or down?? http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k37/fabworx/photo1-3.jpg Domo 09-29-2010, 12:40 AM Thumbs up. It looks like im staring at a pair of boobs...well, kinda. huslindan 09-29-2010, 01:20 AM i want that steering wheel u think it will swap over lol Mouse 09-29-2010, 02:04 AM Thumbs up. It looks like im staring at a pair of boobs...well, kinda. ^^ lol.... that is certainly an interesting way to put a positive spin on it. For me personally, I like the new slightly redesigned steering wheel. As for the rest of the car... Unless Toyota/Scion gave me one for free... they can keep the rest of the car... the 2011 just doesn't exactly blow sunshine up my skirt, I'm very glad I have my 1st gen 2008 tC. So far, there are only 2 things I like about the 2nd gen 2011 tC over mine... 1. The steering wheel redesign. 2. the 6 spd manual trans. I'd love to snag one of those and retro fit it into my 08 tC. I'm not bashing the '11 tC... some may think the new design is great, I'm just not one of them. ....and remember to take everything in life with a grain of salt, because opinions are like butts.... everybody's got one. :icon_mrgreen: Murphys_Law 09-29-2010, 02:10 AM thumbs down, but i hate change Jon 09-29-2010, 02:11 AM The gauge faces themselves look better, but I like the 3 pod set up in the 1G. Murphys_Law 09-29-2010, 02:13 AM within 6 months of them hitting Texas ill be parting one, kids here wreck scions like its cool. ill do a DIY on interior removal lol trdscion 09-29-2010, 02:57 AM THUMBS UP!! I'm diggin them, the car as a whole will have to grow on me, most which I like but there are some that I'm iffy on. I want to try to make it to one of the "unveiling" events at a local dealership to check it out, even though I saw the prototype at the LA Region a couple months ago but still wasn't completely finished. HookItUp7 09-29-2010, 04:07 AM Waiting to see what parts are interchangeable I'm hoping that steering wheel is game-over 09-29-2010, 04:27 AM Down matt 09-29-2010, 04:35 AM Reminds me of the Tundra gauge setup. Murphys_Law 09-29-2010, 04:41 AM theyre still using the same mirror controls and blank switches, wonder what else theyre re-using? Domo 09-29-2010, 07:48 AM They should have upped the mph to 160 djct_watt 09-29-2010, 01:27 PM They should have upped the mph to 160 Not to sound like a ****, but under that same line of thought, why not just bump it up to 200, or Mach 12? Being that the TC's top speed is low, a gauge where more than 80% of it is actually ever even used is more useful than something ridiculous and wishful. Try driving a Porsche and you'll see what I mean. . . a GT3's gauge goes to 200MPH (and it can get somewhat close to that), but it's near impossible to use the speedo for anything at legal speeds. There is a small digital readout, which is equally annoying, being low-set in the dash. But yeah, it's a GT3, so it's excused. A tC. . . a coupe with sporting aspirations. . . but this is just my opinion. Murphys_Law 09-29-2010, 03:21 PM why dont we have digital anyways? come on its a 2011 Rob_DESCENDANT 09-29-2010, 05:37 PM They should have upped the mph to 160 I'm thinking like 180m :icon_biggrin: trdscion 09-29-2010, 08:56 PM maybe because digital is super-90's or somehow on the newer Honda's...lame... trdscion 09-30-2010, 01:09 AM not exactly sure where to put this but since we're on topic of the 2nd-Gen tC...even though the quality is lightyears above the tC, this sure does resemble the tC2 (which came out first). Just an Autoblog find: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/29/paris-2010-audi-quattro-concept-celebrates-30-years-of-performa/ FlintLBC 09-30-2010, 05:03 AM Im digging The steering wheel and gauges Thumbs UP! Everything else no so much testa422 10-01-2010, 03:42 AM i drove one at one of thier TCruise events here in charlotte...def feel the added hp and it has a pretty nice exhaust note and like most here said...all I really like abt the new car is the wheels, the steering wheel, the Alpine setup and the new seats are AWESOME Mouse 10-01-2010, 06:38 AM I'm thinking like 180m :icon_biggrin: Actually it doesn't really matter what number they put as the top-end speed. The fact still remains that it's only a tC and the speed limiter will still kick in around the 130mph mark. And the reason it's there is because the engineers that designed this motor know what the max. safe top end speed is. Because if you bypass the limiter and go faster you run a serious risk of detonation which at those speeds you could easily get yourself killed. 1stOne 10-01-2010, 01:03 PM The dash is great, just wish it had a water temp gauge :(. Everything otherwise is laid out great. The steering wheel controls are almost useless as the radio is so close to make the changes yourself. But the layout is perfect and the dash textures are very relaxing. First one to make a gauge pod that looks factory for this car so I can put a temp gauge in will win my business! 06sciontcnda704 10-01-2010, 01:52 PM thumbs up looks fresh and that new headunit is sex =] 06sciontcnda704 10-01-2010, 01:53 PM The dash is great, just wish it had a water temp gauge :(. But the layout is perfect and the dash textures are very relaxing. First one to make a gauge pod that looks factory for this car so I can put a temp gauge in will win my business! it doesnt have a coolant guage really?? 06sciontcnda704 10-01-2010, 01:56 PM this is a good pic http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/08/lead7sciontcfd2011.jpg highvoltage1 10-01-2010, 02:12 PM I like them and the steering wheel. the seats look more sporty and supportive also. But other than than that and the 6spd its a Big Bleh on the tC2. Is it just me or is it wierd to say tC2? Murphys_Law 10-01-2010, 05:57 PM maybe because digital is super-90's or somehow on the newer Honda's...lame... many newer cars have digital Murphys_Law 10-01-2010, 05:58 PM or a HUD fewjative 10-01-2010, 09:32 PM I think digital < the regular needle, so I am glad they kept it that way. XD40tC 10-02-2010, 03:50 AM I like the look of the interior but during the test drive I felt the steering wheel was a bit too big and it also felt really cheap. sciontc_mich 10-03-2010, 05:15 AM it doesnt have a coolant guage really?? yup no coolant gauge. could attach a scan gauge to it for a digital read out of water temp.. sad that they went cheap and didn't give a coolant/water temp gauge. here's a close up view, speedometer, tach, fuel, that's it http://image.superstreetonline.com/f/34257624/sstp_1010_04_o+2011_scion_tc+dashboard.jpg http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezflow_site/storage/images/news/car/10q1/2011_scion_tc-auto_shows/gallery/2011_scion_tc_instrument_cluster_photo_33/3470657-1-eng-US/2011_scion_tc_05_cd_gallery.jpg http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/08/22sciontcfd2011-1281073802.jpg Rob_DESCENDANT 10-05-2010, 05:27 AM the coolant light is just like the light in the new 2011 xB's Domo 10-05-2010, 07:10 AM i just sat in the 2gen tC today. It looks a lot better in person and the interior is ok. Feels smaller even though the measurements are almost the same. Can't wait to test drive one on wed. rangerryda 10-05-2010, 08:17 AM So we all agree that a steering wheel and seat swap to retrofit would be great? lol Domo 10-06-2010, 05:12 AM that steering wheel is huge. Its like 1/3 thicker than the 1st gen 1stOne 10-06-2010, 12:50 PM But its the same size as a new Civic. I just came out of a 2006 Civic LX and it is really no different in thickness. Mind you the +7 degrees of caster in the Civic give it a really nice steering feel... pwee08 10-07-2010, 03:39 AM is it just me but the interior just looks cheap i dont just cheap looking??? 1stOne 10-07-2010, 11:22 AM Its actually nicer then most interiors out there. You have to spend some time in it before being extremely critical I find. I had the same comments before owning one and being in it a lot. SquallLHeart 10-08-2010, 08:54 PM it looks like it's aching for something... i can't quite put a hand on my soldering iron quite yet.. hmm.. the steering wheel looks kinda weird.. but it's not bad lookin' Superpickel 10-10-2010, 01:57 AM I like the dash redesign, the only thing that I thought was odd was the fact that the three air vents (one on the left, two in the center), which look good, are different than the one on the passenger side. The passenger side is the round vent with twisting motion like in the xB2. Why not keep the rectangular grill like the other three. Looks out of place. Domo 10-10-2010, 08:22 AM yea I agree on the vents...I was like wtf......................................That looked so out of place. Kinda like 3 hot girls and a fat chick on the right. Superpickel 10-10-2010, 11:31 PM Well, I supposed big girls need lovin too. So I will tolerate her as long as she doesn't try to become the fifth wheel while I'm chillin with the three hot girls... This is way inapropriate. I mean, its not really three hot chicks, right? XIEmperorIX 10-11-2010, 12:26 AM Is it me or does the center console, hvac, and shifter look like they were pulled out of new wrx? highvoltage1 10-11-2010, 12:52 AM I think the hvac looks like its from the xd! Superpickel 10-12-2010, 01:02 AM I know that the HVAC controls are the same in the 2011 xB. My wife has one. I'm not a bog fan of it mainly because with my 07 tC, I had so many fan control speeds. Now it's downgraded to only 4 speeds. fewjative 10-12-2010, 01:10 AM I like the new look but functionality I guess has suffered on some aspects. highvoltage1 10-12-2010, 01:20 AM That is somethin i do like about the tC1 is the many A/C speeds. Murphys_Law 10-12-2010, 03:37 AM do not like H2k 10-15-2010, 08:08 PM Does anyone know if there's a trip computer with current/average MPG readings like on the xB/xD? It supposively has a green light that indicates when you are driving economically. Superpickel 10-16-2010, 02:53 AM Does anyone know if there's a trip computer with current/average MPG readings like on the xB/xD? It supposively has a green light that indicates when you are driving economically. I can tell you at the end of the week about the MPG readings because I am waiting for mine to arrive at the dealer. But I do remember from the test drive seeing the green eco light. It came on after I would start to plane out my speed but was not on when i would take off from a stop. LEDmod 10-18-2010, 06:21 AM I'll be working on the tC2 dash soon.... Hopefully I can make the template also for the custom gauge face... =) LEDmod 10-18-2010, 06:23 AM I know that the HVAC controls are the same in the 2011 xB. My wife has one. I'm not a bog fan of it mainly because with my 07 tC, I had so many fan control speeds. Now it's downgraded to only 4 speeds. It sucks that they downgrade the climate control.... But to keep the cost low, manual is so much cheaper than all digital climate control.. Domo 10-20-2010, 01:13 AM http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k37/fabworx/photo1-3.jpg http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/10/2011hyundaisonata2.0t---21.jpg looks similar to the sonota's dash chicago_guy 10-21-2010, 06:35 PM whats everyone's take on the new dash & gauge cluster...thumbs up or down?? http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k37/fabworx/photo1-3.jpg I really like the tc2 wheel. specially for a tall guy my legs always hit the bottom of the wheel. Cant wait to see some salvaged cars for parting out. ill be on the with the quickness highvoltage1 10-21-2010, 06:44 PM It does look similiar to the sonata gauges! I think its said that they got rid of the auto up/down functions on the windows in the new tC. Like its really that hard to do. I actually think that should be standard in all cars. Superpickel 10-22-2010, 02:09 AM And don't forget the auto off function for the headlights that is non existant now. Gonna go back to the dealer and rip the module out to put it in the tC2 highvoltage1 10-22-2010, 05:33 PM LOL Yea that too. It seems they cheaped out on a few things. I used that feature before i had HIDs but stopped once i got those put in. WellesleyScion 10-22-2010, 05:57 PM LOL Yea that too. It seems they cheaped out on a few things. I used that feature before i had HIDs but stopped once i got those put in. I just ordered a set of HID's for the project tC2, which is the only reason why I am ok with no auto-off on the headlights... the window up/down though is upsetting to me... highvoltage1 10-22-2010, 07:49 PM I was so amazed when i found out about the auto up/down windows when i bought my tC. Funny how lil things are so amusing and so upsetting when we dont get them. Superpickel 10-23-2010, 02:49 AM I made fun of my wife when she got her 2011 xB. I teased that I could just press and forget while she had to hold down the buttons for the passenger side and to roll up in her POS... oh how the tables have turned. JohnniiBoyyy 10-23-2010, 06:33 PM I cant live without auto up/down windows LEDmod 10-23-2010, 07:12 PM One way is to get windows module along with the alarm system... Auto Up/down on all the windows... reccoso 11-02-2010, 12:20 AM whats everyone's take on the new dash & gauge cluster...thumbs up or down?? http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k37/fabworx/photo1-3.jpg The steering wheel makes up for it all. LEDmod 11-07-2010, 05:42 AM I had a chance to take apart the 2011 tC today!! LED swap is no problem... also custom gauge face is good to go.. I didn't get to make the template, but I'll be digitizing the stock gauge face in about week or two... kevinnz 11-17-2010, 03:07 AM i think the new tc looks pretty nice kangsta41689 12-11-2010, 01:46 PM I think the new front guages look better than the previos models. However the middle consol for the 2011 models is to plain compared to older models. I really like the GTI inspired steering wheels! allenxtc 12-19-2010, 07:33 AM thumbs down... striderx88 12-30-2010, 06:56 AM thumbs up Varun 01-28-2011, 01:33 AM The steering wheel does feel pretty awesome to drive with.. I test drove it a couple weeks ago and placed my order.. Picking it up on Saturday. |
