Well Judging from this photo it looks like it would fit no problem. I think it would be a an interesting exchange. Here is some more info for you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_ZZ_engine#2ZZ-GE

Might just want to compare engine space between the two. I would doubt the motor mounts would be in the same place.

Ya I was figuring I'd have to mod the mounts... Unfortunatly I'm debating wether trying to switch from auto to manual is even worth it...

man that looks beautiful! ive participated in the 2zz swap at my uncles shop with the xB, but ive always wanted to see how she would mount up in the xA. when i get the resources together this is my project(my 1nz is going downhill quick from past mods) i gotta shop, just need the motor!from our past swap im guessin it could be done for under 6k... halfway there!

and on the note of the tranny, the vvtl-i really doesnt come alive without the MT, and it would be a waste of money and time to try fabbing the xA's tranny to the 2zz, your gunna have to swap it all if you wanna do it right and efficiently!

I'm gunna see about how hard it's gunna be to mount the MT cause I have an auto now but I'm already doin all this fab work might as well make it a MT like I wanted in the first place... Where's your shop? I'm looking for a place to help me or where I could rent a spot to do all of this.

Ive just gotta find all the pieces... I'm thinking the whole ecu and computer would have to be changed too... Any known people who went from auto to manual? I mean transplanting it and how hard.

ECU is a computer. You'll need to fab custom mounts for engine and new transmission, change the wiring harness, make custom driveaxles, possibly some cutting to the body. Get $5K-$10K ready for the whole project to do it
right.

i dont think your quite prepared for a swap like this, were talking huge bux(and thats DIY, even more to see a shop!) to put it as basic as possible your gunna need:
-engine
-engine mounts
-transmission
-transmission mounts
-drive axles
-new ECU for both the tranny and engine
-all the necessary sensors and electronics(many wont swap over from the 1nz)
-keep in mind i said BASIC, these are just the immediate necessary parts to even start putting a picture together of what this project will intale

and unless you find a running reliable donor car your not gunna find a complete engine or tranny, your gunna have to by all the parts for each- there gunna be bare! this is definitely something you WILL NOT be able to do yourself if you dont have extensive knowledge of both machines and quite a bit of experience.

to be honest it would be immensely cheaper and easier to just go turbo or even easier a super charger! unless you have track purposes or show car intents with this car its not worth swapping engines. you can easily push 175-200+ with a turbo(which is the same if not more power than you'll get out of this mod).

good luck which ever way you go. its just now-a-days its not as simple as if it fits it works.
