Rob_DESCENDANT 10-07-2010, 03:13 PM Looks good, I like it! We have lots of parts available now & more coming!! If you have interest call us!
serith 10-07-2010, 03:16 PM Nice looking car you got there. Super white looks great :)
Question for you... did you previously own a 1st gen tC? If you did, how does this one feel/perform overall compared to the other?
Murphys_Law 10-07-2010, 03:24 PM does the hatch garnish feel as cheap as it does on the tC1
Ace83 10-07-2010, 03:41 PM i say start crackin' the ecu!
my06tc 10-07-2010, 03:49 PM i really like the shifter, looks very nice, replicate of the sti....the tc is starting to grow on me
krazyliltc 10-07-2010, 04:39 PM I see a Ptuning box in the trunk...
Ace83 10-07-2010, 05:27 PM good eye.. lemme guess, license plate relocator or gauges/electronics?
WellesleyScion 10-07-2010, 06:00 PM Thank you everyone, I am loving the new tC. I will be using this thread for the project build, so expect to see more pics coming as I go.
@ Rob_Descendant: you will be getting a PM in a minute :)
@ serith: I used to own an xD, but I do a lot of work with Scion and have been able to drive 1st Gens around a lot. The NG tC feels much quicker, and handles much nicer in my opinion.
@ Murphys Law: no it feels much stronger than the First gen garnish
@ krazyliltc (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/member.php?u=176041): There is a P-Tuning box in the trunk :D
I am working with Carlos to get some things taken care of for the 2nd gen owners.
highvoltage1 10-07-2010, 06:03 PM Just not feeling the TC2. Looks like a brick not trying to be a brick on wheels. Also the black exterior A-pillars looks terrible.
WellesleyScion 10-07-2010, 06:16 PM I am with you on the A-Pillars, those will be coming off in the next day or two...
How's the 6-speed? I'm assuming much better response than the auto.
WellesleyScion 10-07-2010, 06:26 PM I am still in break in faze so I have yet to step on it. The tranny feels smooth as butter though.
chicotunner07 10-07-2010, 06:27 PM wasting no time i see, lol
my dad jokes around all the time when he see's me removing stuff, "what did those japanese people do wrong this time" lmao
serith 10-07-2010, 06:39 PM I am still in break in faze so I have yet to step on it. The tranny feels smooth as butter though.
I just have to know... What kind of RPM's are you spinning in 6th on the highway at 70mph?
WellesleyScion 10-07-2010, 06:55 PM I just have to know... What kind of RPM's are you spinning in 6th on the highway at 70mph?
2600 - 2700 :)
serith 10-07-2010, 07:09 PM 2600 - 2700 :)
While not mind blowing performance, that's definitely a huge step up from the 1st gens. Thnx for answering my Q :)
WellesleyScion 10-07-2010, 07:58 PM no problem serith, and yes I agree, while not too exciting, its still better than nothing...
Oddest thing to me about the NG tC is the reverse light... thats right I said reverse light, as in singular... the slot on the right side is a dummy, there is no actual place to even install a bulb on the right side "reverse" location...
my06tc 10-07-2010, 08:04 PM hows the throttle response, and do you have to push the clutch to the floor when shifting like the first gen tc or did they fix that too
DezodDon 10-07-2010, 09:29 PM looks good I like the front end much more than the 1G
WellesleyScion 10-07-2010, 09:57 PM hows the throttle response, and do you have to push the clutch to the floor when shifting like the first gen tc or did they fix that too
Throttle response seems good, but there is still the toyota lag...
and you dont hqave to hit the floor on the clutch, but the clutch pedal length is still short like the 1st gens were
djshway 10-07-2010, 10:15 PM Can't wait to see what other things your have planned for the tc2. I might just head up to my dealership and test drive one, see how it is.
trdscion 10-07-2010, 10:17 PM After seeing the first prototype in Cement Gray at the LA Region and now seeing real pictures of an actual one instead of official review shots or renderings, it's growing on me more and more - even there were only a couple of things that needed growing into. And it probably doesn't hurt that it's SW...
WellesleyScion 10-07-2010, 10:22 PM @djshway: I will be doing plenty to it ;) Search my username to find pics of my old xD
@trdscion: sw ftmfw!!!
djshway 10-07-2010, 10:26 PM @trdscion I feel the exact same way, i didn't quite know what to think from pictures online, til I went to the State Fair in Texas, and sat in one and looked at it...
serith 10-07-2010, 11:18 PM After seeing the first prototype in Cement Gray at the LA Region and now seeing real pictures of an actual one instead of official review shots or renderings, it's growing on me more and more
This. So much this. I'm going to stop down at my dealership that sold me my RS5 to see if they have one to test drive. I definitely have to see this thing with my own eyes now.
Chrisb319 10-08-2010, 12:30 AM Can't wait to see what you have manned for it Teddy
testa422 10-08-2010, 01:28 AM to everyone in doubt...drove it at a scion event and it looks/drives/is waay better than anyone is giving it credit for
my06tc 10-08-2010, 02:25 AM After seeing the first prototype in Cement Gray at the LA Region and now seeing real pictures of an actual one instead of official review shots or renderings, it's growing on me more and more - even there were only a couple of things that needed growing into. x2 i hate to admit it but its growing on me too......i guess you cant judge a book by its covers unless you actually read it,
leZao 10-09-2010, 12:40 PM The wheels look pretty good. Where they upgrades or what comes with it?
WellesleyScion 10-09-2010, 06:34 PM Those are the stock 18's.
leZao 10-09-2010, 07:58 PM Those are the stock 18's.
Those are really nice wheels.
Superpickel 10-10-2010, 12:44 AM I am in the process of trading in my 2007 tC for a black 2011 tC. It is being shipped to my dealership and is supposed to arrive on the 17th of this month. I am excited but have been looking around for aftermarket parts and contacting companies to see if they have in parts in the process of being created. So frustrating have a new car on the market and no customizable parts available for a car that is made for customization. *sighs*

There are quite a few companies modding tC2s for SEMA. We're definitely going to see a few items next month, but will usually get a full compliment of parts by the end of next year.
YELOSUB 10-10-2010, 04:45 AM Congrats on the new ride...I liked what you did with the xD so I'm looking forward to see what you do with this one...
WellesleyScion 10-11-2010, 12:57 PM Thanks for the compliments on the D Yelo. :)

WellesleyScion 10-11-2010, 05:45 PM Thats fugggging sexy!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you :)
More to come... :D
highvoltage1 10-11-2010, 06:27 PM Whats the deal with the left tail light being different? just for the reverse light? If so i think you should make them both the same looks kinda bad IMO. But the white pillars looks a ton better!
djct_watt 10-11-2010, 06:51 PM The new tC only comes with ONE reverse light. The other side is a dummy.
fewjative 10-11-2010, 09:43 PM Why couldnt they have two reverse lights.....is it sersiously that hard to make it look the same on both sides. Imo , it will look hella stupid when you see only 1 light while reversing....Also you should tint both sides
serith 10-11-2010, 10:27 PM Why couldnt they have two reverse lights.....is it sersiously that hard to make it look the same on both sides. Imo , it will look hella stupid when you see only 1 light while reversing....Also you should tint both sides
When a car manufacturer screws up like this with things that are visually noticeable, you really have to stop and wonder about the parts of the car you can't see :(
I'm not hating on the car, but it IS a really stupid design as far as the reverse lights are concerned.
The one reverse light wasn't an accident. I don't know why they did it either. Some Euro cars only have one reverse light (in Europe, mind you) but they also usually have a rear fog light in the other spot.
testa422 10-13-2010, 01:25 AM legally you are only required to have one reverse light so why spend money on the other one...i dont know what they were thinking but that may be one suggestion...side note, looks 1000000000x better with the white pillars
highvoltage1 10-13-2010, 01:31 AM I dont care about legally. and your argument about why spend the money makes no sense! Um you already have the tailight im sure it dont cost extra to put another on in there. Man this car seems more and more like Toyota made alot of shortcuts and the car is already ugly so this car really aint gonna help Scion with there sluggish sales!
trdscion 10-13-2010, 04:50 AM I think the taped up a-pillars look way better, much more stealth, but oh well. Looking good. Making me like the tC2 more and more.
djct_watt 10-13-2010, 05:02 AM I think the taped up a-pillars look way better, much more stealth, but oh well. Looking good. Making me like the tC2 more and more.
More pics would be appreciated of the tape-less pillars.
Hey, anybody else notice that the wipers are just kinda crooked? Usually they follow some sort of cowl shape, but it's just a flat bottom with oddly angled wipers?? Is it just the pics?
WellesleyScion 10-13-2010, 03:27 PM Couple more pictures:
http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac216/DT9Designs/Project%20Machine/IMAG0143.jpg
http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac216/DT9Designs/Project%20Machine/IMAG0144.jpg

http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac216/DT9Designs/Project%20Machine/IMAG0148.jpg
I did not red out the reverse light because the tint I used actually turns the light out put to red. So If I did red it I would have a red reverse light. and I agree that there should be 2 reverse lights, This was the reason I tinted them in the first place. At least now there is less of a chance of being harassed for only one light working...
x_Batman_x 10-13-2010, 05:51 PM Definitely diggin the whit pillars. Really improves the exterior.
I'm actually going to have to vote that I like the differing tail lights. Not sure why scion chose to only include 1 reverse light, but leaving the left side un painted makes that design aspect look more intentional
mileoutrage 10-13-2010, 06:50 PM That looks pretty good, I have to admit. Does that rear end remind you of a celica?
chicotunner07 10-13-2010, 07:22 PM i like the subtle changes, pillar looks better, just make sure you wax where the vinyl was.
djct_watt 10-13-2010, 08:04 PM Looks great with white pillars. . . MUCH better. As someone who is as obnoxious as myself about the gen2, and as awesome as you've been posting pics, can you get one shot of the car straight on from the front. You seem to have a lot of different variations of the same exact front angle shot, one zoomed in, and one from the opposite side, but none of them are different angles of the front.
But yeah, it looks leagues better with the blackout removed!
WellesleyScion 10-13-2010, 09:01 PM http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac216/DT9Designs/Project%20Machine/IMAG0149.jpg
There you go. :)
Oh and yes the rear end reminds me a lot of the Celica
chicotunner07 10-13-2010, 09:10 PM just noticed, but does the tc2 come with 2 front tow hooks? i see 2 covers?
and whats your car doing back on the showroom floor, lol
YELOSUB 10-13-2010, 09:20 PM SHOWing off im sure :) since he works at the dealership...
WellesleyScion 10-13-2010, 09:24 PM the tC2 has 2 slots for tow hooks, but only comes with 1 actual hook. lol, one of the perks of being the Scion Sales Manager here...
chicotunner07 10-13-2010, 09:54 PM ^i can already picture someone with 2 OMFG SUPER JDM towhooks, lmao
although it should be good once a license place relocator comes out, you can choose which side to place it on.
scion71tc 10-13-2010, 10:00 PM Looks clean. They are starting to grow on me now

That should be very shortly :)
What's the story on that Corolla in the showroom pic?
WellesleyScion 10-14-2010, 02:23 AM What's the story on that Corolla in the showroom pic?
78,000 original miles, in perfect showroom condition... not for sale LOL
We took it in on trade and will be using it as a show piece in the showroom to prove that a well maintained vehicle can last forever.
chicotunner07 10-14-2010, 02:38 AM ^any more pics of it? sounds nice, lol

PS: get some fogs!!

I am thinking OEM fogs and overlaying the yellow film I have on them, but I am not 100% sure as I am planning on modding the grills... I might wait for a VRD style fog to be released...
chicotunner07 10-14-2010, 10:40 PM nice! now clean your plate, lmao

2011crimson 10-17-2010, 01:13 PM Nice job already. I just ordered a Crimson TC myself. Hope I don't have to wait too long. Seems like TCs are in short supply now. I was so impressed by the factory stereo that I won't be messing with it at all. I thought I liked the black pillars, but now you have me thinking. Too bad you have to have a front plate, here in Florida we don't need one, looks much cleaner IMO.
I'm hoping they come out with the TRD exhaust and cold air intake soon, that is what I want to do to mine first.
Gonna watch this thread, I like the way you do the before and after pics to compare.
thnx
YELOSUB 10-19-2010, 04:40 PM Did you scrap your project xD build?

Got the video working on the Radio
edit: Sorry 2011crimson, no before/after on these pics... lol
JDMJim 10-20-2010, 02:05 AM nice big rectangle sub box...I like the white with black a-pillars. the tC2 completely outperforms the tC1 in performance and handling
chicotunner07 10-20-2010, 04:05 AM can you debadge the scion emblem? or is it like the tc1 which leaves a hole behind?
also, get some license plate cover/trims, your front and rear plates look crappy without them, lol
Superpickel 10-20-2010, 04:13 AM Nah, it just found a new driver... my wife :)
Its nice having a 2 modded Scion family
That it is... I have a black 2011 tC and my wife has a white 2011 xB... The only problem is fighting her for parts. Oh and you mentioned grills earlier. I will have a special treat for that by the end of the week and will post pics after I install them. Stay posted...
WellesleyScion 10-20-2010, 05:43 PM can you debadge the scion emblem? or is it like the tc1 which leaves a hole behind?
There are holes behind the Scion badge.
also, get some license plate cover/trims, your front and rear plates look crappy without them, lol
I am contemplating if I should get blank ones or I might try to get Carlos over at P-Tuning to send me some.
@Superpickel: Check your PM's
Superpickel 10-21-2010, 02:24 AM just figured I would post the black version since I went and picked it up tonight. And PMed back Wesley. Btw, do you have a manual for removing the sotck grills. Figured I'd ask since you work at a dealership.http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x105/superpickel3/IMG00102-20101020-1901.jpg

No manual to remove the stock ones, but I can give you a quick Ted write up.
-The front bumper needs to be removed.
-There are clips located on the top of the bumper that you will need to remove
-On the bottom of the bumper there are a few screws/clips that you need to remove
-There are screws where the bumper meets the fenders
-From there you should be able to pull the bumper off.
-The grills are held in by clips on the back of the bumper, unclip em and your done.
Superpickel 10-22-2010, 02:41 AM Preciate the help with that. Grill pics are posted in the Tread Black Beauty
WellesleyScion 10-22-2010, 12:37 PM No problem. I took a look at your thread and my only question on the grills is how do they mount? do they attach to the factory grills, or?
Phobic 10-22-2010, 01:36 PM Ted, the tC looks outstanding dude. Love the a-pillar tape removal and the license plate hook up. I really need one of those asap! I am sick of having my plate on my grill.
Carlos, hook a brotha up! haha.
Also, I wanna discuss a new build on my B with you. I am gonna need some things painted and still want that DT9 vinyl that we discussed.
WellesleyScion 10-22-2010, 02:32 PM Ted, the tC looks outstanding dude. Love the a-pillar tape removal and the license plate hook up. I really need one of those asap! I am sick of having my plate on my grill.

Thank you Matt
Let me know if you wanna meet up or just phone call it. I am not posting pics of the tC for a while till I get some work done to it, but wait till you see what I started the other day :)
Phobic 10-22-2010, 08:07 PM cant wait to see what you have in store for this beast.
chicotunner07 10-22-2010, 10:05 PM finally saw a tc2 in person, gotta say, it was pretty nice!
things i loved: steering wheel, all black headliner/pillars (this was the best feature i liked), dashboard center stack facing driver, and seats were a little better then tc1 seats.
things i hated: rear 1/4 window visibility (blind spot much? lol) rear garnish (just a weird shape) no auto up/down passenger (i mean wtf? its not new, just use the same parts from the tc1) and of course the climate controls (again, wtf?)
overall a nice car, but definitely not for me!
i really loved the black headliner, lol
JDMJim 10-23-2010, 02:30 AM well, Toyota's thought process of "cost savings" for some of those features is BS. many cheaper cars come with more features theses days. Saw a Chevy Cruze today too. makes the Cobalt look cheap. Toyota is pricing themselves out of the market honestly. Of course, the gas pedal conspiracy didn't help much either. they need to make up 65 million
WellesleyScion 10-23-2010, 01:26 PM HID's showed up today. Hopefully I will get them in today and have some pictures up tonight.

2011crimson 10-24-2010, 12:31 PM Hello Wellesley, watching this thread!
Got a question: Did you consider adding another reverse light rather than painting over the non-functional one? Seems to me that it should be pretty easy to splice a couple wires to the other side and add another light. This would keep the rear from being asymetrical in appearance. I'm leaning towards doing this when I get mine. What do you think?
P.S. If Toyota left them out to save money (as I expect) makes me wonder what other things that we can't see were cut?!
OkcTC 10-24-2010, 05:21 PM way to start off fast lol... I am getting my 2011 tc this week... Can i ask you questions once i start working on it???
djshway 10-24-2010, 07:00 PM Very nice so far, can't wait to see more and more. What are you next plans for it?
highvoltage1 10-24-2010, 09:21 PM How visible is the reverse light when your standing on the passenger side of the car where you cant visibly see the driver side tailight? I know its legal but it just seems like a major safety issue. Plus i am kinda stumped why scion did that when it looked terrible on the xb2 with one reverse light and then they changed it to have them integrated into the tails on the refresh of the xb2. More mind boggling questions from scion. My biggest surprise is the lack of auto up/down windows!
Murphys_Law 10-25-2010, 02:31 AM just trim into the other side and mount LEDs in it, ive brought this up every time someone else mentions the tc2 reverse lights, i dont have a tc2 in front of me but its got to be possible
highvoltage1 10-25-2010, 11:21 AM Yea I am sure it is! But not everyone is going to do this or know how.
WellesleyScion 10-25-2010, 12:50 PM Ok a lot of questions to answer...
@2011crimson (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/member.php?u=199178) Not really, it was mentioned to me before I sprayed them, but I kinda like the single reverse, just wish they made it more obvious.
@OkcTC (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/member.php?u=199311) You sure can
@djshway (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/member.php?u=183749) Tint the windows. Eventually coilovers, lip kit, wheels, turbo... I can go on for a while, so lets just say I am planning a full show car.
@highvoltage1 (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/member.php?u=163771) It lights up everything behind the car, I would say it works just as well as having 2 reverse lights on the 1st gens... I agree on the auto up/down.... should really have the feature...
@Murphys_Law (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/member.php?u=188408) while I am capable of doing it I have grown to like the look.

highvoltage1 10-25-2010, 02:34 PM Looks good! But are they dont even really look on. LOL look like you swapped in blue bulbs. Hey can you take a closer pic of the stickerbombed side mirror?
On the Reverse light. Thats good its got good output. Sometimes the stock bulbs can be lacking in light.
WellesleyScion 10-25-2010, 03:38 PM Looks good! But are they dont even really look on.
Wait... what?
I can not take a closer pic of a stickerbombed mirror... Its not sticker bombed.

highvoltage1 10-25-2010, 04:42 PM Wait... what?
Oh LOL. My bad. 4 hours of sleep and editing a sentence in mid thought dont work well. I ment to say the lights didnt even look like they were on.
And it looked stickerbombed from afar or something like that. But thanks for the close up pics. Looks good.
WellesleyScion 10-25-2010, 05:04 PM OH! Ok that makes sense now, yea those pics were taking with still some day light. At night the whole road gets lit up in a nice cool blue.
TMcJilton 10-25-2010, 06:39 PM SWEET! I just got my new 2011 tC last weekend. I really like what you did with the blank reverse light spot. I was thinking of something like that the other day wondering what it would look like. I wish you were closer to me down here in FL so I could just bring my car to you because it looks like you did a killer job. Great work all around. Cant wait to see whats next.
Superpickel 10-26-2010, 12:25 AM Where did you purchase your HIDs from?
rwdjones07 10-26-2010, 05:44 PM Where did you purchase your HIDs from?
hey i use this website for my h.i.ds on my last scion tc 3bspec.com...i love them and very very great..i had the slim ballast and 10k also with the slim ballast it drops it down to 9500k i think but its alot better output..imo i didnt even need to adjust headligths or anyting the cut off was perfect i think i can upload a pic of what they looked like
highvoltage1 10-26-2010, 07:59 PM There are several HID vendors in sponsored sales. Check out that area to see what they offer and pricing.
WellesleyScion 10-27-2010, 01:49 AM Hidextra.com good prices, great hids. :)
YELOSUB 10-27-2010, 02:21 AM Hidextra.com good prices, great hids. :)

http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac216/DT9Designs/Project%20Machine/IMAG0184.jpg
Heres a better shot, car is dirty and the garnish isnt so the color looks off, but after the car wash it looks like a dead on match:
http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac216/DT9Designs/Project%20Machine/IMAG0182.jpg
Superpickel 11-04-2010, 12:53 AM And so the debadging begins
WellesleyScion 11-04-2010, 12:55 AM lol, If you aint the lead dog, the scenery never changes.
JDMJim 11-04-2010, 12:59 AM don't want anyone to know you are driving a Scion?
greenbean24 11-04-2010, 12:59 AM Could you enlighten me what is behind the scion logo?
Superpickel 11-04-2010, 01:27 AM So what did it take? A bucket of bondo, lol?
chicotunner07 11-04-2010, 03:11 AM looks nice debadged, but what about the front grille? i hate how they made the badge part of the bumper, kinda like scion knew everyone was de-badging and said screw you then, lol
Superpickel 11-04-2010, 04:29 AM You will probably see a solution to that very soon... very soon
x_Batman_x 11-04-2010, 05:12 AM garnish looks great!
highvoltage1 11-04-2010, 12:45 PM looks good!
WellesleyScion 11-04-2010, 05:25 PM There is divet behind the emblem and 2 holes. Fiberglass filled it, and I top coated it with bondo, then primered, painted and cleared...
There will be a solution to the front bumper soon, just waiting on things to show up.
Thank you guys for the nice comments :)
mytcrox 11-05-2010, 03:33 AM is it just me or do the tail lights somewhat look like the ones on a 1-series BMW?
chicotunner07 11-05-2010, 04:27 AM well yes, i know there are "solutions" to debadge the front, but its not a simple swap like the 1st gens, theres gonna be body work and paint
unless i dont have any imagination and cant picture what your gonna do, lol
WellesleyScion 11-05-2010, 12:37 PM Well I shaved and smoothed the rear garnish myself, so....
chicotunner07 11-05-2010, 04:22 PM ^yes true, but the rear garnish is a small piece, the front would have you re painting the whole front bumper, lol
i know its very possible, it just sucks its not like the 1st gen, oh well, lol
WellesleyScion 11-05-2010, 04:24 PM ^^^Thats true...
fewjative 11-05-2010, 09:40 PM I cant wait, I think you will have just designed a new aftermarket bumper that would be more popular than OEM!
tC553 11-14-2010, 05:34 PM props for your new tC2!! watching!!!

WellesleyScion 11-17-2010, 07:11 PM ^^^ not done yet, I am working on it slowly, doing some extra things like extending the lip... I'll get pics up as I accomplish more on it.
Loving your car so far! Just a request, if possible can you get someone to take a pic of your rear end with your reverse light on? The whole making it seem like I have a bulb out is really throwing me off with my tc2, and I would like to see how yours look. Thanks! Keep up the work, def watching this thread.
DustinMorrisTC 11-22-2010, 05:22 PM ^x2
Phobic 11-23-2010, 04:22 PM yeah ted, lets see some pics of your rear end!
WellesleyScion 11-26-2010, 12:51 PM Sorry for not getting the pic yet. Havent found someone to snap a shot during the day yet.
I make a short ram intake yesterday. Sound is super deep but its not noticable until you hit like 4K RPM's... was hoping to hear it through the whole band. I am planning on adding piping to make it a cold air, but due to time constraints short ram was what I was able to finish.
pictures of the intake will be up shortly.

x_Batman_x 11-26-2010, 11:43 PM is there somethin you can do about the crankcase vent line not being connected... you're lettin unfiltered air into your engine that way plus under heavy throttle its going to drip oil in your engine bay

2011crimson 11-27-2010, 11:47 PM Nice looking ram air! Can you feel a difference in power? What did the parts cost? Where did you get the stuff? Does it mess with the computer at all? Can it mess up the warranty?
I considering following suit here and would appreciate the advice.
Thanks.

DustinMorrisTC 11-29-2010, 12:55 PM What did you use to turn the dash red? Just spray paint? Or is that vinyl wrapped?
djct_watt 11-29-2010, 01:14 PM The wrinkles on the side suggest a vinyl/leather wrap. Looks Good.
WellesleyScion 11-29-2010, 04:36 PM "Stop light red carbon fiber vinyl"
Stuff was cheap $15 yard plus shipping.
I need to pull the radio bezel and re-wrap it, The clock does not fit right, I am thinking that I will need to trim the factory piece and then wrap it so that it can sit a little more flush.
DustinMorrisTC 11-29-2010, 04:45 PM It looks really good! Can you buy the vinyl at like any fabric store or where did you get it? Also do they have a cement-ish color?
WellesleyScion 11-29-2010, 05:15 PM It looks really good! Can you buy the vinyl at like any fabric store or where did you get it? Also do they have a cement-ish color?
I found it at some random place online, they had a bunch of different "carbon fiber" colors, grey was one of them.
DustinMorrisTC 11-29-2010, 05:21 PM Link to site? =]
WellesleyScion 11-29-2010, 05:26 PM Couldn't tell ya, I just googled ordered and x'd out. Customer service was horrible (they still havent replied to my questions) and they took like 2 weeks to ship it out. So even if I found it again, I wouldnt recomend them.
Search for grey vinyl wrap
DustinMorrisTC 11-29-2010, 05:29 PM LOL. Ok thanks for the tip! Very nice idea and execution. Maybe a write-up?

DustinMorrisTC 11-29-2010, 05:45 PM Hahah fantastic! That looks like it wouldn't be too difficult for a noob like me to pull off. I think making those interior pieces the same color as the exterior would make it look so much better.

the4kbeast 12-05-2010, 01:52 AM +1 for a video w/ sound to hear your tC ripping through a few gears. Really interested in hearing if the Dual VVT-i being added to the 2g tC makes the intake sound different.

so wait does that mean it does come with a relay harness?
I ordered a kit for my sister during the black friday sale to give to her for christmas. I cant look at it the box is at home hidden from her while I'm at school. I ordered a harness with the kit so will I have 2 waiting for me? 1 that comes with the kit and the one I ordered??
carben100 12-06-2010, 11:06 PM You don't need a relay harness, so the kit doesn't come with one. When I get an HID kit I'm planning on using one anyway.

x_Batman_x 12-07-2010, 12:16 AM not really lookin to fry my sister's wiring harness for Christmas

Thanks,

WellesleyScion 01-06-2011, 05:16 PM ^^^A subwoofer in the trunk will make a huge difference. I have 2 12 inch MTX's and an Alpine amp, but if your not looking for rediculous bass then go for like a single 10 inch subwoofer and an amp, you will be happy with it.
m0ej0e 01-06-2011, 05:32 PM Ok thanks!
Superpickel 01-07-2011, 01:20 AM ^^^A subwoofer in the trunk will make a huge difference. I have 2 12 inch MTX's and an Alpine amp, but if your not looking for rediculous bass then go for like a single 10 inch subwoofer and an amp, you will be happy with it.
Don't knock the 10s. I have two Memphis 10s and Memphis amp, and it is more than enough. But 12s would sound good.
djct_watt 01-07-2011, 01:54 AM In a hatchback, a high-end 10" sub with a good amp, and tuned properly can sounds pretty damn good. . . and it can save a lot of space and weight. Not to rip on 12's, but all too often I see entire trunks taken up by 2 12's that sound like 1 10.
Superpickel 01-07-2011, 02:14 AM Had my Memphis 10s for about 4 years. haven't let me down yet.
WellesleyScion 01-07-2011, 12:15 PM I am not knocking 10's at all, I have 2 Alpine Type E's in the xD, they get the job done no problem. I simply meant that I have 12's in the tC.
djct_watt 01-07-2011, 12:22 PM With the right set up, 12's rock too. . . man. . . I miss the USA's awesome selection of audio equipment.
m0ej0e 01-07-2011, 12:32 PM Wow thanks for all the help peeps!
john2011TC 01-09-2011, 04:26 PM no problem serith, and yes I agree, while not too exciting, its still better than nothing...
Oddest thing to me about the NG tC is the reverse light... thats right I said reverse light, as in singular... the slot on the right side is a dummy, there is no actual place to even install a bulb on the right side "reverse" location...
very much agreee the reverse light was a complete fail imo.
WellesleyScion 01-10-2011, 01:56 PM So tomorrow I should have some updated pics for you guys :)

Scion Canada 01-14-2011, 12:51 PM Nice drop. What did you use? Or did I miss that somewhere...?
WellesleyScion 01-14-2011, 01:27 PM S. Techs^^^
Needs more in the front, maybe another half an inch and it would have been perfect... I will be going with Coilovers in the spring...
m0ej0e 01-14-2011, 04:30 PM How do you keep it so clean with the snow? I drive 2 KM and mine is almost black! I am liking the pics!
I also wanted to ask you since you work for Scion, do you know if the HiD kit/TRD springs would Void the warranty?
AwesomeX 01-14-2011, 05:18 PM Nice drop, keep it up. :icon_biggrin:
WellesleyScion 01-14-2011, 05:20 PM TRD anything will not void the warranty.
HID's will not void anything as long as they are not found at fault for an issue. Meaning if the HID's light on fire and your car burns to the ground, it wont be covered. If your HID's melt the wiring of the stock harness, it will not be covered. If your windows stop working it will be covered regardless of the fact you have HID's in your car.
TscionC05 01-14-2011, 05:56 PM lookin good!
excaka 01-14-2011, 06:16 PM looks good. didnt know u installed the stechs yet. i just made a thread for it, haha!
WellesleyScion 01-14-2011, 06:29 PM ^^ HAHA, I have had them on for a couple days now. I was just able to get the pics up though. :)
excaka 01-14-2011, 06:43 PM its lookin great. how long are you gunna wait for the alignment?
WellesleyScion 01-14-2011, 06:47 PM Forever? or at least until I notice the alignment being off... Lowering a car should throw the camber off only, im not worried about camber, its caster that would cause problems...

Thanks for the info! Sorry to kinda thread high-jack. I was wondering if you know how intense they are with locating the cause of issues. I know many people whom have had issues with this sort of thing. With the TRD kit, I spoke to Scion Canada and the rep there said that if lowering caused other damage it may not be covered. Is there a contact number I can ask for a yes or no response? the last thing I want to do is waste the 2k I spent on a warranty for the car.
Thanks again for answering my long-winded questions.
Joe

All TRD parts are covered under warranty. Scion sells and installs TRD parts.
m0ej0e 01-15-2011, 01:00 PM Thanks again Wellesley!
WellesleyScion 01-15-2011, 01:37 PM No Problem Joe
1stOne 01-15-2011, 02:52 PM Forever? or at least until I notice the alignment being off... Lowering a car should throw the camber off only, im not worried about camber, its caster that would cause problems...
Actually it causes toe in, which wears the tires. Castor is the angle the shock faces, either forward or back. Castor is often not effected by lowering, but if it is, its a good thing as more positive castor gives better steering response and free turn-in camber (for track).
Toe points the tires in or out (towards the middle of the car or away from it for example). When your wheels rotates, toe in turns the road into a cheese grater. This is exactly why people with lowered cars and no alignment have tire wearing issues. Camber is too easy to blame for the wear because its the only change to alignment you can physically see.
Get an alignment. Mine was done the day after installation and the toe was in quite a bit.
Besides all of that, the car looks great! Love the drop!
m0ej0e 01-17-2011, 03:17 AM I have learned so much in this thread it is scary!
excaka 01-19-2011, 03:38 AM so how do you like the HIDextras? im thinking of getting a pair of slims in 6k.
WellesleyScion 01-19-2011, 05:42 PM I like em, they are priced well and have a quality kit.
Matariel 01-19-2011, 05:55 PM Wellesley,
what kind of red tint did you use for the tail-lights? Im thinking of doing the same, but with the 2nd reverse light :P not sure if you have rain/cold/snow, but how long does the tint normally hold before you have to coat it again?
WellesleyScion 01-19-2011, 06:01 PM I just ebayed "red taillight tint"
Weather is horrible right now, we have been pummeled with snow off and on for the last 2 weeks. Tint holds up pretty well, throwing some clear over them will make em last a hell of a lot longer though...
JDMJim 01-20-2011, 01:42 AM how have the springs changed the handling characteristics with the stock shocks?
WellesleyScion 01-20-2011, 05:01 PM To be honest, I havent noticed a difference in handling at all. Heck, I dont even feel like the car is lowered...
cement 01-23-2011, 11:04 PM first of all... nicely done... car looks awesome... simple mods, yet they go a long way...
and, hello fellow toyota employee. i'm an ASM at a toyota/scion dealer in chicago too.
one request, how bout a little type up DIY on the intake... im starting to get tired of waiting for one to come out...
WellesleyScion 01-24-2011, 04:12 PM I just went to autozone and picked up some Spectre pieces, 60 degree, 45 degree, vacuum coupler, MAF coupler, 45 degree, 4 inch coupler, 45 degree, and then the filter, in that order starting from the throttle body and ending in the filter. You will need to make your own MAF adapter cause the ones that come with the coupler dont work, and you will need to find a new hose to go from the valve cover to the vacuum coupler.

how did you do that? lol...
WellesleyScion 01-24-2011, 04:16 PM I hardened a piece of fiberglass, made sure the top and bottom were flat and just cut it to the right shape...
WellesleyScion 01-28-2011, 04:11 PM Windows are being tinted as I type, I'll have pics up later tonight. :)

ninerbud 01-31-2011, 04:55 AM is the video on your alpine unit running off an ipod? or is it reverse video camera? I have been trying to figure out where to get the wire to plug in the back of the Alpine unit for Video. I found somewhere on here that the gray plug is the Video cable, but can't figure out where to buy one. Thanks for the help and your car looks sweet. You should throw on a billet grill from customtc.com That is my next add I think.
WellesleyScion 01-31-2011, 06:16 PM 35% for the doors and 20% on the quarters and rear.
The radio is playing off my iPod. You can order the cable through your dealer, I think it was like $20.

john2011TC 02-14-2011, 05:37 PM nice decal graphics looks awesome. in your opinion are the stechs worth it? or should i wait for some coilovers?
WellesleyScion 02-14-2011, 06:04 PM ^^^ how low do you want to be? handling wise they feel like stock to me. I want to sit a little lower in the front though, back sits perfect and just barely tucks tire. but the front sits maybe 1/2 an inch above tire... I will be getting coils eventually...
john2011TC 02-15-2011, 05:39 AM i want to be slammed but sometimes i stop and think twice about it since the streets here are ______!
so if the stechs give me the "low" look i guess im down to rock them for a bit and move on to coils.
any info on when they'll be out?
Phobic 02-15-2011, 02:56 PM now that you can cut vinyl you're just going nuts huh ted? haha.
you gotta cut me some DT9 decals to throw on my hatch!
