I have the Bazooka sub box and I was wondering if it's possible (or worth it) to replace the 8" sub with a better quality one. It sounds good now, but if it could sound better I'd be very interested.

View Full Version : 8" Sub for Bazooka box xtylerx 10-08-2010, 05:56 PM I have the Bazooka sub box and I was wondering if it's possible (or worth it) to replace the 8" sub with a better quality one. OEM Audio + 10-27-2010, 04:56 AM Were there any prospect "Quality" Speakers you were considering? xtylerx 10-29-2010, 02:03 AM Not really, I'm a noob when it comes to subs/speakers. natesi 10-29-2010, 03:33 AM I'd recommend the infinity basslink. If you want something that just sounds good inside the car it works awesome -- I've owned one. And they only go for like $200 ish. And are very light and small. Amazing sound for the price and size. I'm not an audio expert either, but from what I understand Bazooka is scraping the bottom of the barrel. KaneoheKoa 10-29-2010, 09:26 AM Xtylerx, it's really easy. The key is getting a speaker that is made for the box volume of the Bazooka box. Back in my day, I had to wade thru the Theiel-Small parameters (read; lots of math) to find out if it acoustically fits. Now, the manufacturers tell you what box volume it's made for and what kind of box (sealed or vented/bass-reflex). Get a speaker that is about the same physical volume as the original. If the Bazooka magnet is small, don't get a driver with a huge honkin magnet, it'll change the sound of the box/driver combination. DJTonkas_xB 11-28-2010, 12:34 AM How does your Bazooka sound? Cause JL has a stealth Box out now that maybe worth getting but if the Bazooka sounds good I might just get that... Not sure and do you know if Scion has a connection back there already? xtylerx 11-29-2010, 09:49 PM It sounds pretty good overall, just doesn't handle heavy bass with high volume that well. I would have gone for the JL box if it wasn't $600. The Bazooka also has an amp built in so that was a plus. There's no connection back there, you need to run the wiring all the way up front. |
