The winner of the March 2005 Design-A-Scion contest was a tough,
tough choice. I finally narrowed it down to four potential winners,
three of them had designed pickup trucks from the Scion xB. The
winner designed a sedan that showed the kind of creativity that I
was looking for. The winner is FlintTc324 and his Scion eTs sedan!
The feature writeup that includes all photo is here:
http://www.scionlife.com/features/f_050401/
I will be contacting him tomorrow, and posting all of the contest entries in the features area of the website.
ORIGINAL POST:
OK, this month's contest is going to push your creativity a little bit. You just received a phone call and the lead designer for Scion's next car has disappeared with the plans. They are in a bind because they have promised the corporation that they will have a new car for 2006! Your job is to design and draw the next Scion, labelling interesting features and even providing some specifications. You can create the drawing entirely on the computer or you can draw and scan it. Post your image as a reply in this thread or email it to: admin@scionlife.com and I will post it for you.
-=PRIZE=-
The prize for this month's contest is your choice of the following:
- A Hotchkis lowering spring kit for your Scion model courtesy of www.hotchkistuning.com
- An AudioFormz fiberglass xB subwoofer enclosure courtesy of www.audioformz.com
- A Scion Life Prize Pack (stickers, license plate frame, calendar & more)
- A one-year Premium Membership to Scion Life ($100 value)
- A set of notebook-bound Scion Service Manuals for an xA, xB or tC ($100+ value)
-=RULES=-
- Images must be of sufficient size to read writing, etc
- YOUR SCION LIFE SCREEN NAME MUST BE INCLUDED ON IT
- You may enter as many times as you wish
-=JUDGING=-
As always I am the sole judge and my decision is final. I will be choosing the winner based more on creativity than pure drawing skill, so use your brain and enter even if you aren't the most-skilled artist.
Ok, this goes out to all those that are attending the Mid-Atlantic Scion bBQ on the 17th of April. For those of you that enter this contest, you are eligible for seperate prizes that I will be handing out. I will announce the winner when the contest is over, and hand out the prize at the bBQ. *You must show up at the bBQ to receive your prize.*
Good luck everyone!!!!

Heres another, keeping with the ad and funny slogan bit.
Obviously related to the tC, but specific changes are the trapezoidal grille and headlight shapes, four doors.. I'm still working on renders of the side/rear/quarter views. .we'll see if I can get them done -- they are driving me crazy.

Yeah, I saw his concept of the grille and headlights, connected with them and wondered what it would look like without all the extras.. that's what inspired me to focus on those things and that's how I came up with my sketch.
Personally, I like SignalxB's drawing the best so far -- it really kicks ___!!
I'm still working on refining my ideas and coming up with a quarter view and rear end.. I'll post what I have later..

If there is one thing Scion has taught us, it is that "boxy" done properly sells vehicles. If there is one thing we have learned from "modern" design trends, it is that that which was old is new again. Retro styling is becoming a more and more popular trend, though it has produced shamefully few vehicles that do nothing better than a disservice to their truly vintage counterparts.
But where others have failed, Scion shall succeed, by reintroducing a classic Toyota model redesigned and rebadged for their vehicle lineup. The Scion lC, a reincarnation of the classic Toyota Land Cruiser, projecting an image of being purpose built for off-road travel, unlike the more understated and welcoming look of today's Land Cruiser, while incorporating a subtle modern aggressiveness not found in the Land Cruisers of old.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to introduce the all new Scion lC:
http://www.scinscityscions.com/images/scionlc.JPG
4 wheel drive is standard.
The vehicle is powered by a 3.4L V6 engine (with TRD supercharger an available dealer option).
Base MSRP for a standard 6-speed manual (that's right, 6 speed!) will scrape just below the 20k mark at $19,900.
Expect other dealer available options such as roof racks, tow hitches, upgraded TRD suspension, as well the usual array of Scion options.

Introducing the Scion xS ...
At last! The predecessor to the MR2 Spyder has arrived! Using a more structurally
advanced version of the MKIII Toyota MR2 chassis, the enlogated hood sweeps into
the body with enlarged side air intakes that draws upon images of the more expensive
big brother, the Lotus Elise...
Performance: 190hp 1.8L 2ZZ, mid-engine rear, wheel drive.
Transmission: 6 speed manual (with optional sequential manual transmission)
Standard Features: One touch up/down power windows, power locks,
Scion Sound Processing 6-speaker MP3 stereo system, HID projectors,
4 wheel disc brakes with ABS and VSC, standard 17" alloy wheels and
Recaro racing seats... unfortunately, there will be no sunroof. :P
I think I need to refine it a little, Like add brakes and a drivetrain, and a sidecar that a human can fit into... tell me what you think.

Anyways... I just threw it together tonight, but it needs a lot of work..
Maybe a big spoiler... more aggressive fenders... some neon windshield wiper nozzles...
looks nice but i dont think us spyder owners would want vsc or traction control it would take away the fun of driving
Scion is not myopic in its vision. Everyone can create a sports car. Few can create a sports VAN. Introducing the sV, with the functionality only a minivan can provide coupled with aggressive styling that casts to the wind their inherently boring nature. With the sV, Scion introduces the minivan to the youth market, and the older among us who need the space, don't want a gas guzzler, but are not yet ready to accept the image of being seen in the typical minivan.
Based on the platform of the Toyota Sienna, the sV includes many innovative features (aside from just the unique styling).
The sV is actually a 2 door minivan. Both left and right doors are sliding doors. But due to their sheer length, Scion created doors that slide straight UP. A button on the interior (or the key fob) shuts the doors electronically (the mechanism including a fail safe device to prevent closure on individuals or objects). The hatch is also electronically closed in this manner.
While seats that fold flat into the floor are a great idea for convenient extra storage space, Scion went a step further. Not only do the seats fold into the floor, but both rows of rear seats contain a specially engineered frame that allow the seatbacks themselves to open and be used as storage space.
Rather than the typical individual buckets, the front seats can be made into a bench seat, with a removable connecting peice. This allows for a maximum capacity of 8 passengers.
The standard engine option is the 2.4L inline 4cylinder powering the tC. Available as an option is the 3.4L v6 powering the Scion lC.
Front wheel drive is standard, with AWD an option. The AWD package features push button locking of either the front or rear wheels, allowing front wheel drive or rear wheel drive only.
As with the lC, with the v6 engine option, a TRD supercharger is offered as a dealer option as well.
As an added bonus, while pricey, TRD offers a sport tuned suspension option with adjustable ride height and a stiffer chassis, making the sV even MORE of a sport van.
Base MSRP for the 4 cyl, fwd model is $17,700. Expect upwards of $24,000 for the TRD version with V6, supercharger and suspension package.
Presenting, the Scion sV:

I don't think I accurately described the picture I had in my mind........they would slide up and curve over the roof of the vehicle (overlapping each other if need be to avoid smashing into one another). Makes me wonder why I said "straight up".....I think the "straight" was just to put emphasis on the "up." Not a well thought out choice of words.
But......at any rate........who cares..........cause it's not a real car.

Yes Max, I used Pro Engineer 2001 and created all the parts and then assembled them. I used a basic rendering package within Pro/E to get the shadows and reflections on the last image. this is awesome, and my favorite by far! my first Toyota was a '66 FJ40, stock when i got it and a little tired but still in that condition a badder 4-wheel drive than any made today. the list of mods i made is way too numerous to list but the highlights were:
floor shift conversion
shackle reversal
Man-a-fre lift springs front and rear, extended anti-inversion shackles for total 5 1/2 inches of lift
33 bfg muds on wagon steel wheels
custom bumpers built by me
2F motor from an '82 , custom intake fabbed by me, hand-built high flow 2-barrel, headers, flowmaster 2-chamber, MSD -6a and blaster 2 coil
complete new wire harness from scratch
every seal, bearing, cylinder, ball joint etc. lovingly re-built or replaced
3 years, 6000.00, 400 man hours of my labor , this ride was a true monster that NEVER EVER left me stranded or stuck, i truly loved my Cruiser, his name was Roger (as in jolly roger, the pirate flag that was the only sticker i ever put on him).
lost in the last divorce... would have kept the b***h if i had known it was going to cost me the real love of my life.
sorry for the rant but i figured y'all could sympathize and i just had to vent.
peace,
Frank

Toyota Motor Corporation adopted Toyota Industries' development proposal for the bB Open Deck, and it was manufactured by the Vehicle Division on behalf of Toyota Motor Corporation and launched in June 2001. We developed designs that are amenable to vehicle recycling, putting special emphasis on weight reduction and enhanced recyclability.
One example is our use of a highly recyclable plastic in the outer and inner panels of the tailgate and deck door. By changing to integrated parts, we reduced the number of parts used, and achieved a reduction in mass of around 15% compared with traditional designs.
TRD Offroad has jumped on the Scion band wagon with the addition of the all new 2006 Scion WTF. The idea was to create a vehicle that could handle the stress of off-road activity and still be acceptable on the streets. The result is this beutiful machine you see here. The fenders were removed to accomadate the huge tires and lift kit and replaced with diamond plate mud guard-type fenders. A luggage rack was added to provide a space for a tent or sleeping bag and other misc. camping gear. And don't forget the elactronics. The TRD WTF features the latest in mobile CD/DVD tecnology as well as GPS, so you'll never be lost where ever the adventure takes you! Look for the TRD Scion WTF at a sporting expo, or campsite near you.

I want my submission to be a cleaner, updated version of the Comfort/Crown Comfort. I wanted to infuse the styling of the Century. . . but I suck at drawing, so here goes. If only I had good software, damnit! I also attach some pics of what I was trying to mimic. It's supposed to be the size of the Comfort (and using its underpinnings to reduce cost), with the style of the Century.

Scion proudly introduces the 2006 Scion xT, a two door sport truck. Combining the newest technology, and blending retro
styling clues with a fresh look, the xT is certainly not a vehicle which will get "lost in the crowd." Standard features are
plentiful and the options are endless. Some of the standard features include:
*3.2L VVT-i2
*Sport-tuned lowered suspension
*Front bucket racing seats
*Automatic transmission with iShift and paddle shifting
*HID headlamps
*LED taillamps

Hey mdt70..... that looks awesome. I was thinking of doing something in Pro-E as well but I just haven't had any time. Work has been too busy for me to do anything. I think this looks great. How long did it take you to draw it up??

So how exactlly is this being judged? I've been working on designs for cars but if it is going to turn out to be a drawing contest then why bother with designs. You know what I mean? Anyway...I just want those who have taken the time to come up with something new to get the credit they deserve and not the people just taking already existing prototypes and adding Scion logos.

If you read my text max, you would understand a little bit more.
Also, what company does not "borrow" from existing lines? All images have been creativly created. And some were even drawn.
Those who complain never really offer, they just take.
Thanks for the critiques Max!

-=RULES=-
- Images must be of sufficient size to read writing, etc
- YOUR SCION LIFE SCREEN NAME MUST BE INCLUDED ON IT
- You may enter as many times as you wish
-=JUDGING=-
As always I am the sole judge and my decision is final. I will be choosing the winner based more on creativity than pure drawing skill, so use your brain and enter even if you aren't the most-skilled artist.
Hope that helps.
And if you notice, anyone who's complained about using existing prototypes or whatnot... according to the rules, that is not a foul.
It's the creativity in their use.
The owner of this board has made it very clear. Creativity.
Kairoh
03-17-2005, 09:44 PM
Okay so how do you think the people that actually worked hard on some of these prototypes would feel if their stuff was used to enter a contest? Its just like plagiarism, its not right and shouldn't be allowed. I work on designing logos for a living and if someone used one of my designs to enter a contest or something, technically it could turn into a legal issue. I'm not downing anybody from doing what many have done but really...what is so creative about slapping Scion emblems on prototypes? In my opinion...nothing.
TeamMightyMiniz

It's a creative contest, art is created in various mediums. Some people disapprove of certain images that others regard sacred. Is that any reason to disregard the effort?
Using the Scion name in this arguement/contest alone is an oxymoron.
Not only are images of other vehicles but xB cannibalisms into 3d programs are fair in this contest.
Calm down and re-read the rules a few hundred more times. They are very loose and yet very clear. Hold your own contest next time and you can set your rules accordingly.

Not only are images of other vehicles but xB cannibalisms into 3d programs are fair in this contest.
I suppose you are right, but my point was just to make sure that people noticed that most of your entries are other cars which you put a new logo or name on. Submit whatever you want, I just hope the judge realizes exactly what you did and how uncreative it is.
TeamMightyMiniz
03-17-2005, 10:21 PM
they are not what you wish to make them into. They have been altered and if you knew concepts you'd have known this.
Also, it's exactly the direction a company would take in aquiring a new vehicle for market.
Where should I begin with that?
Pontiac GTO, Toyota bB, Mercury Cougar, and so on..... It's a contest.
also... seeing the restraints given... You just received a phone call and the lead designer for Scion's next car has disappeared with the plans. They are in a bind because they have promised the corporation that they will have a new car for 2006! Seems Scion is in a real bind and time is of the essence!
It's fairly obvious to me that some of us take the contest to a differant level than those who just draw an image.
I think all the entries are fantastic and fun... there is always one "MAX" in the crowd to throw his wet blanket on everyone.

I think some of teammightyminiz's entries are creative. Its just a different way of presenting entries, and judging by the amount of them I'd say he's having fun. It would be a pretty boring contest if everyones entries were done in the same style. I see your point max, but the judge will choose fairly, and if he likes TMM's stuff good for TMM, if he likes yours max, good for you.

xBilly is 100% on the mark about this being just for fun. If it didn't have that element to it, I would ignore this thread.
Only the judge knows what he digs and that's final.
The majority here is having a great time with this and like i said earlier...
When there's fun involved and people are enjoying themselves...there's always one "wet blanket" who tries to bring it down.
I won't let it get me down... There are several more days before this contest ends and that = more images!

I agree...I jumped the gun a little and that was in part because I have to deal with the whole copyright thing everyday at work. It should be fun and who cares if someone does use existing photos and adds their own stuff. I'm sorry for being a jerk. Anyway...mine is almost done. I'll hopefully figure out how to post it so that it is clear enough to read. i should have it up in a couple of days.
I've named it "2006 Scion xX"

It is simply amazing to me how this whole thing has been turned around on this guy MAX. TMM has done nothing but critique everybodies entries thus far and now that somebody calls him out of his fine ability to surf the web and hunt down other peoples prototypes so he has something to enter as his own work they are the bad guy? Amazing.... Winners are made from people who work hard, and commit themselves to whatever interest they are persuing. Successful people are not made by half a$$ attempts. My last word on this entire over blown topic is this... TMM, while at the time the comments may sound cute or funny in your head by the time they are wriiten and submitted on this page they are not. As far as I can tell you do not appear to be an authority on car design or anything of the nature. Your rude comments should stay in your head and off this forum. I can say for myself, after putting in long and tiring hours creating my entries and seeing the lack of time and effort you put into yours that your comments are not welcomed or needed. If you spent more time on your designs and less time critiquing others hard work, your time would be better served. signing off until the 31st. Good luck to everybody on their entries!!!
Max
03-18-2005, 04:59 AM
I am going to quit bickering. I don't think this is the topic to do so, it is one to let some good designs show. I wish all that have a new cool design the best of luck. I don't appreciate the work of some here and the fact that they are flooding the topic with used ideas and insufficient design, but in the end the decision is not up to me. Darren, I hope you see the creativity and hard work of some of the designs here and judge on that, you said you would.
Good luck to all.

MARCH 18-SCION HEADQUARTERS---After months of reading emails with ideas from consumers, the great designers here at scion took your ideas and created our next model the xT. Taking design took the chassis from the toyota aygo and added its the unique styling that scion is known for. Now not only does this truck have great looks, but it also has alot of power also, taking the engine from the beefy tacoma with a 4.0-liter DOHC EFI V6 with VVT-i that puts out 245hp and 282 lb-ft tq. This car comes with a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic transmition. Like all scions this truck comes with the option to personalize. Shown above is the xT with the optional TRD side mounted exhaust. If you do not prefer the exhaust the truck already comes with a lovely dual exhaust. Some exterior designs include a nice big flat bed with cooler inside(so you can store your favorite beverage at your next tailgate) Projector headlights so you make sure you see all of whats in front of you in the road and stock 20 inch wheels in the front, and 22 inch in the back, giving you a nice mean stance. More details will be released when we launch our website at scion..

Where exactlly does this 4.0-liter V6 fit? The truck looks a little small for that engine. Or is the truck alot bigger than it looks? It would almost have to be a full-size truck to be proportionally correct and fit that engine. Just wondering if it will be a smaller truck or more of a full-size. I like the look of it though. Nice design.

Who knows what "creativity" is?
I mean......maybe to Darren........creativity IS making something that is realistic, but still "new."
I tried to make mine realistic.....they're not outlandish.......but they're creative.
That one guy that did the Godzilla didn't make it realistic obviously........but it was funny.......and creative.
So creativity can go both ways.

03-25-2005, 02:37 PM
True everyone but I mean those people that are in it to win. Some people might want to spend all their time designing a car that they feel can win. I mean making it really realistic like giving dimensions and everything. They put a great effort into it then end up being let down cause its not creative in Darren's eyes. I have just heard this from a good friend of mine who started his design but gave up because no one knows really what Darren is judging on, or at least his view of what is creative and all. I told him who cares and to just enter his design which he spent all his time on. But I do agree that everyone should just enter their design rather they think it will do good or not. I think its nice to have a wide variety of designs to look at. When you think about it, if we all put certain pieces of each of our cars together, we would have one bad a** design. I guess its just up to Darren, so saying that just judge how you always judge. You always do a good job picking a winner. Good luck everyone.

I tried to be creative in the style, and some of the things we could see later as standard equipment. Vented Carbon Hood, and we havent seen a V6 Scion yet, let alone twin turbo!!! Who wants one? Tell me what you think guys.

Kairoh
maybe someone should do just that, combine each car into one kick booty car. I give my permission to use my 'entries' in this quest for the perfect scion.

I vote signal do it. Come on, look at his own entries. Just think of what everyones combined would look like if he did it. That is if signal is up to it. But what parts of whose designs would he include?
SirScion
03-25-2005, 07:58 PM
Okay, Scion Scorpion's stereo
Signal's Wheels
SirScion's Butterfly doors
TeamMightyMinis' Glass top
Kinglou's AWD
XBilly's helmet, jst for fun
Mdt's Suspension
Joshtravis' theft deterent
Kairoh's Breaks and suspension
Flinttc324's Hood
and since so many people have them, someone's raceing seats, cruise control, and cool headlights, maybe a combination of everybodies headlights too, hum, more research
sounds like a few defeatists are throwing it the towel assuming that someone will win over their own entry! WTF? If you don't have the confidence in your submissions, remove them.
This is not meant to be a negative post, but some of us were having fun with this and hope to be considered
Kairoh
03-25-2005, 09:44 PM
So its okay for you to have fun and others can't. It seems like you do alot of complaining instead of giving opinions. And I haven't gave up. I entered and am sticking with my design whether it wins or not. No one said they were giving up, where you got that beats me.
SirScion
03-25-2005, 09:58 PM
Yes, we made our entries, and I am sticking by mine too, why would we forfeit? we are just having a little bit more fun, we all had such cool ideas, what we wanted to see what would happen if we got all the best parts from some of the entries, and made one really super duper scion, the scion of perfection, the scion dreams are made of... anyway, we are not giving up, just joining together, its called being a good sport, you can still contened, but in the end, you have to realize that we are not opponents, we are members of a family, as I understand this is not going to be a real entry, just for fun.
no worries mate!

ok here are two more versions of my first entry, the Scion eTs. I only had time to do sketches for these two so far, but if I have more time before the 31st then I will add color. This first one (Number 2), shows a different wide body with exotic side vents. Good for cooling the rear brakes! Still a sedan, I like the sedan theme. One thing I forgot to put on the first entry was that both front and rear doors open verticle, the front is hinged at the front and the rear door is hinged at the back of it. Also, the car is not just All Wheel Drive, but how about All Wheel Steering!!! And its still a V6 Twin Turbo. Wait a minute, an idea..... How about an all new V4 Twin Turbo with individual throttle bodies !!!!!!!!!
V4 Twin Turbo 4WD - AWS !!!
ok the last one is a Convertible, again different front styling, hood, and mirrors.
And since I think someone mentioned on the first entry that they wouldnt be able to get in cause the doors were too small, keep in mind that the doors do go down to the side skirt, plus open vertically, so everyone gets in, even Godzilla!
Thanks Tav, but I'm not that happy with it. I tried something else tonight and it didn't turn out like I wanted either. If I can pin down something good, I'll put all my "drafts" up.

I just finished going back thru all of the entries, and I just wanted to say good job to all who entered! There are a lot of good ideas here, this was (and is) a good contest. Also, I didnt notice the first time that Signal put All Wheel Steering on his Drift Spec entry, I also put AWS on my entry, but I didnt realize anyone had used that option yet. My bad Signal.
In case I dont have time to fin the sketch, my last entry would be this:
Some form of the Box, extremely lifted, on huge tank-style wheels / tracks or whatever they are called. You know, the things tanks roll on. It would be the Scion tM : Terrain Master! I hope I have time to sketch it out!

they should bring the OpenDeck bB over in that case.
But the open deck doesn't look like his pick-up model. I've actually seen the open deck before over in Japan and really its not all that much better than the xB here. His pick-up is sick cause its chopped and with the hard cover over the bed. Open deck is too Xterra like.
Xbilly
03-29-2005, 08:27 PM
The open deck is lame IMO it wastes space with a bed that too small for any practical use, mitchells bed is twice as big, possibly usable, and the chop is sweet. not to mention camo is the best color. ;)
nice job
I like Mitchell's open rear. Obviously Signal, you have excellent design skills, nice work. But I think this last one looks too much like every other SUV out there right now. (Yes I know the xB isn't an SUV). But this design looks like some new Ford or Navigator, IMO. Maybe it's just the angle though, or just the way the wheels sit with the fenders. Cause I do see the xB in it too. OK now I'm rambling. Where can I see more of your artwork and designs though? Technically your work is superb.

NICE!
ha!
I guess it's better than "xb P.U."
How about "bb got back"..?
...the bBgB ?
:P
Personally i think a mid engine layout would also be very interesting.
The mr 2 was such a great car that just never found it's niche.
If that platform could be cheaper, scion could have a new classic with this bbgb
In a mid engine layout, you could put a rack on top of the rear deck for more aerodynamic storage
but a sporty pick up like this could be so much fun
like a new, smaller el camino.
and once again scion would have little competition here.
thank for the

Thanks.
The Mr2 handled really well.
The mid engine design gave it a near 50/50 weight distribution.
But a truck would certainly be easier for scion to actually build.
HAHAHA Is that a DUI? Drawing under the influence???? :silly:

Introducing the Scion tM...
This is the first ever modular car, produced specifically for the tuning crowd. The car comes in two versions a pickup and a sedan - but the rear half of the car is interchangable!!! You can buy either the sedan version or the pickup - but you can also buy both by buying the pickup with the sedan module.
The rear half of the car is attached by velcro reinforced with superstrong electromagnets making it a breeze to change the car from sedan to pickup with the push of a button.
The Scion tM has plenty of space in the engine compartment and comes with a toyota V6 as standard. But the Scion tM is also the first japanese car to be offered with a domestic engine - the mopar 5.7L HEMI magnum - in recognition of the fact that there is a lot of quality aftermarket parts for the HEMI engine.
I'll take a xT Hot Rod and a xB-RMX in BOP please. Oh and add a bBgB in there too.

First time post(er) hopefully this works:
http://www.geocities.com/rchan928@sbcglobal.net/Scion_xL.jpg
And
http://www.geocities.com/rchan928@sbcglobal.net/Scion_xLT_copy.jpg
For the first model I designed (xL), I was thinking that since SCION is a youth oriented brand, WHAT IF some youths enjoyed sport sedans? Personally I own a tC and I enjoy coupes. In todays society however, we have more and more young kids starting families at younger ages and not everyone enjoys or wants a minivan. The xL is baisically a 4 door tC but obviously it looks different. Its more luxury and has more power. I decided also that $18,490 seemed a good price because Scion is known for its well equip cars at such a low price with the no Hagle no hassle policy. As you can tell I am not the best "alloy Wheel Drawer" but I decided it should have the same as the tC's, with also the YOKOHAMA low profile tires. The Interior would be somewhat similar to its sibling the tC, but with optional navigation, and a much more sportier interior though such as its cousin the IS300. The new sporty Sedan with also atleast 40 accesories to choose from, make it your own!
As for the xLT, which is also new for 2006, xLT standing for Large Truck will be the first of its kind for scion. No much description here yet, but as a hint it will share the soul of the Tacoma. The xL will share the engine with the Solara but with finer tuning, it achieves more power. the xLT will have standard V6 engine like the regular Tacoma's but with a more sport feel to it and a different look. Scion is known for its unique design, which is why the xLT will be set apart from other trucks seen in todays market. 18 inch allow wheels standard, and same features you would find on a SCION, how could truck lovers resist?
That concludes my introduction on the two new entry level models for Scion, enjoy!
TORRANCE, Calif., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),
U.S.A., Inc., today announced that they were throwing in the towel on the youth marketed brand, Scion, and will instead convert it to an ever growing baby boomer generation that grew up on the roads. Effective immediately all remaining stock of the popular urban utility vehicle, xB, the problematic coupe, tC, and the poor selling hatchback, xA will be sold through. Jim Farley, Scion Vice President said, "We gave it our best shot, but in the end just decided we couldnt crack that coveted 16-24 age group". Jim Press, TMS Executive Vice President and COO explained, "Toyota likes the image that the and industry buzz that the Scion brand has created but we're going to refocus it towards the active adult market".
In a related annoucement that stunned the press and bloggers alike they have announced the all new 2006 Scion xV. A Full Featured recreational vehicle.
The All New Scion xV is a 36' long House on Wheels and is expected to have a base MSRP under $50,000. Farley, excitedly talked about the xV and all its hip new features. "The exciting thing is we were able to cram all this great stuff in it a 36" foot long vehicle so we took the engine and the sunroof of the tC, the overall boxiness of the xB, and well the x part of the logo off the xA and put it into the xV".
Features of the xV
1. The innovative collapsable second story. "This is a Scion exclusive very much like the VW MiniBus of the past except we made a whole second floor"
2. The Panoramic Glass Ceiling "Again another Scion exclusive here you will really get to experience nature"
3. Rear View Camera "This fufills legal requirements of having to be able to see out of the back"
4. 32" Wheels "Only the biggest for this fine automobile Spinner Hubcabs will be availble as a dealer option in late 2006"
5. Extra Long and Wide Mirrors "Our base clientele is in their last years their eyesite is rapidly deterorating"
6. Musical AirHorn "We have another excellent dealer add-on here the horn can either play the Theme to Matlock or Murder She Wrote"
7. Single Door Access "We opted to go the route of having only one entry and exit point an excellent Scion innovation"
Expected EPA Mileage is in the mid to low 20's. We had to top this thing out at 55mph in order to get that, but in research TMS/Scion discovered that most people that age never even get going that fast.

The winner of the March 2005 Design-A-Scion contest was a tough, tough choice. I finally narrowed it down to four potential winners, three of them had designed pickup trucks from the Scion xB. The winner designed a sedan that showed the kind of creativity that I was looking for. The winner is FlintTc324 and his Scion eTs sedan!
