It maintained the same height which was good b/c it lines up with the armrest well ....the throws were reduced but not nearly as drasticly as i thought they'd be and the shifts seem much "tighter" in terms of going into gear it clicks twice and slips in gives a real good feeling of it being "locked" in....i know our cars have triple-cone synchros but im not sure if has to be broken in or what the case may be but for 125.00 shipped i am very satisfied......

for people with the TRD shifter that came with the whole assembly were your shifts "drasticly" reduced unlike mine?? i know the TRD shifter shortens the height of the stick as well and i didnt want that but i am wondering if i should have gone with that instead....hmmm :tap: [/b]

You paid 80 bucks to install...it's simple and all you realy needed was a few metric tools. It took me maybe an hour and half to install mine and that was with beer breaks. I could understand if it was a spring install, but.....Oh and I have had mine fore about three weeks and just love it.

As far as a I know the trd shifter retains the stock height.

i got mine from 2k racing .... 125.00 shipped.. came in 3-4 business days....not bad....

yea i would of installed it myself too but u had to cut one of the bolts and i dont have a dremel to get into that tight space.. it took them bout 2 hrs to install it and they only charged me for bout an hour so no biggy.....

the car feels waaay sportier with this install im glad i did it.... for the money it's definately worth it...

install is a piece of cake, comes with the cage and metal bushings (a big help for rigidity).
it does drop the stick only slightly, still a tall hieght. i just notice a little more sag in my boot, that's all.
shifts are precise and sharp. the dropped pivot point really takes the slack out of the box.
"drastic" reduction? like driving a miata? no way.
love it.

for the people that did the trd swap did you get instructions. i just received mine today and i will be doing the install in the next day or two and i was just wondering how to get started?

I have the TRD shifter, it is a little tight at first but the feel is good. I have the link below for the stock and TRD shifter, side by side they do not look that much different, but it is. The TRD unit has the four bushings sitting on the table that go under the TRD housing and the floor pan. This brings the whole assembly up so your shifter does not have that sunk in look and the boot does sit a little lower. The shifter kit was clean, quick and easy, it even comes with a TRD leather shift knob. Good directions and easy to install, less than an hour if your taking your time.

I have 3500 miles on the TC and accustom to the reach for 5th and running through the gears. I found myself at first over reaching for the shifter when in 5th gear. I also needed to change up the timing of the clutch and gas, the gear change was slightly faster and found myself hitting the gas before the clutch was coming out. Only took about a day to full train myself for the slight difference.

i have the b&m shifter. i didn't like the length. called b&m and asked for advice on cutting it. t hey said that it would do no harm or ruin the throw on it. only thing is the warranty is gone. didn't bother me because it's only $120, and i am very sure that it won't break. i cut 2 inch. off and love it.

TWM has the shorts throw of all, thats why I have one!!!!!!!!!!!!

a friend of mine has an SRT and a short throw just came out for their car that cuts the throws 50%!!!...thats what we need..only time will tell.....

our stock throw actually is pretty short compared to most other cars. so when b&m or TRD say that they cut the throw by 25-30%, that's actually pretty good.

i just installed it last night too. the throws are much shorter than stock and the height is just right-it's not too short, but its still lower than the stock height. you can rest your arm on the armrest and just shift moving your wrist. friggin awesome.

Yep that is how I shift with mine, though a sobe bottle works even better to give your forarm support. Found it out when we took the road trip from Houston up to Dallas last sunday. I realy love it myself and I do have a pic of the comparison of the stock shifter I keep forgetting to post.

i have the twm now and i can still rest my arm on the arm rest (maybe i have monkey arms) it is relay nice shorter throughs and alot more esthetically apealing
