View Full Version : shawn baker's SEMA TC look inside
game-over 11-02-2010, 11:29 AM tC Tuner Challenge by Shawn Baker: Stealthy and clean, Shawn Baker’s slammed tC is easily the sexiest coupe on the stand. Baker chose only to make changes that “complemented” the new-for-’11 design, hence the uncluttered body that sits good and low on its 19- x 8.5-inch front and 19- x 9.5-inch rear wheels. Under the skin, it’s a whole different story: an intercooled turbocharger, new exhaust, custom interior, and, of course, a zillion-watt sound system are ready to rumble. Awesome.

thought i'de share....... very sexy car
Jasper Ash 11-02-2010, 11:50 AM I thought the tC2 had potential. It looks good. A little strange with the body lines, still... but good. I hate that it sits so high in the rear vs. the front though. I can't tell if thats because of the wheels and tires or if thats just the way the car sits when evenly droped. Wheel gap looks to be the same front and rear. Hm..
greenbean24 11-02-2010, 02:04 PM This car is absolutely amazing
It's awesome to see a sema car styled how the average scion owner would build it.
This car is ill
davedavetC 11-02-2010, 03:32 PM sexy as hell! holy crap that interior is amazing!
FlintMica2005 11-02-2010, 03:33 PM looks amazing! the front lip reminds me of the RS1 lip!
game-over 11-02-2010, 04:00 PM yeah.. i absolutly love this car..... shawn is very local to me.. we have talked many many times.....and he is no stranger to the moding game....he is the founder of...
wrteam.com
these guys know what ther doing...
Pete C. is also apart of this group and the one that built the blue and gold xb2 last year for sema...
if i paint my car.. it would go matte black.
game-over 11-02-2010, 04:03 PM creative car tunes is the shop that did the audio.. they are 1 exit up the road from me.... they do amazing work....
highvoltage1 11-02-2010, 04:06 PM Looks pretty good. All i can see is the first pic though. Stupid work computers. But the exterior is nice. The tC2 has potential but it just doesnt look good sitting there stock like the first gen.
Tom11x 11-02-2010, 04:43 PM sexy!
JDMJim 11-02-2010, 05:03 PM meh. wheels don't flow and that positive front camber? really? love the ghetto grenade
TunerKid 11-02-2010, 05:24 PM This car has completely changed how I feel about the tC2! I must have one!!!
XD40tC 11-02-2010, 06:14 PM Love the work put in but not the style at all. Looking forward to more modded tC2's :)
Now this I could drive. I may just be saying that because of the interior though. Anyone notice the RS2 front lip and RS1 sides?
Jasper Ash 11-02-2010, 06:37 PM Yeah. Looks custom. It doesn't look like it drops the body line as much as the actual RS1/2 kit.
They probably molded them to the OEM sides and widened the front lip. And now that I look, those seem to be the RS? rear caps too.
greenbean24 11-02-2010, 07:51 PM The front windshield has racing solution on it, I'd guess it's a pre production lip kit from them for the tc2
Superpickel 11-02-2010, 10:26 PM Definitely like the way this appears being lowered. Springs... are definitely next...
BMXTurbo 11-02-2010, 11:41 PM The front windshield has racing solution on it, I'd guess it's a pre production lip kit from them for the tc2
damn...good eye
testa422 11-03-2010, 01:00 AM looks amazing! the front lip reminds me of the RS1 lip!
the side skirts remind of the rs1 kit too!
game-over 11-03-2010, 01:26 AM Definitely like the way this appears being lowered. Springs... are definitely next...
It's on bags. I think anyway.
game-over 11-03-2010, 01:30 AM Yeah in the specs it says what is all done. It on air ride.
Superpickel 11-03-2010, 02:53 AM Your missing the point... either way, it still looks better lower
game-over 11-03-2010, 03:18 AM Your missing the point... either way, it still looks better lower
oh... my bad.. i didn't realize you were talking about yourself...
i forget people do have this car now....
tCjosh 11-03-2010, 07:13 PM is this the first tc2 with a nice agressive stance?!?! looks real nice. love the interior too with that grenade shiftknob! i was also noticing that it had the re1/2 front lip with the sides and rear caps... cant wait to see some more stanced tc2s!!!

WellesleyScion 11-03-2010, 08:16 PM This car is effin sick!
I like that he molded the RS2 lip on.
RacingSolution 11-03-2010, 09:56 PM Congrats to Shawn on the Tuner Challenge.. I was at SEMA yesterday and talked to Shawn for a bit.. we weren't sure how the competition was going to go.. each car had a very different style
We were excited to work with him on his car .. The lip kit you see is the RS2 kit that was retrofitted to fit the new tc2 and obviously molded to the bumpers.. We think it came out fantastic. If you want to see the RS2 kit for the tc2 go into production let us know!
highvoltage1 11-03-2010, 11:06 PM Good to see such a nice car win. Sometimes they pick some cars where you gotta scratch your head.
WellesleyScion 11-03-2010, 11:14 PM Congrats to Shawn on the Tuner Challenge.. I was at SEMA yesterday and talked to Shawn for a bit.. we weren't sure how the competition was going to go.. each car had a very different style

We want to see it go into production :P
Superpickel 11-04-2010, 12:47 AM Why wouldn't we want to see it go into production... *(scratches head)
cessblood 11-04-2010, 03:27 AM This car is pretty nice.
Alvie 11-04-2010, 03:31 AM The rear actually looks good when slammed, Nice!
JoeyC20 11-04-2010, 04:24 AM wow that interior is ugly as hell. Esp that steering wheel. It looks like it belongs on some dudes 67 chevy impala, not a tc. Ehh not really feelin the wheels either. Dont like the chrome lip look. Other than that it looks good.
game-over 11-04-2010, 04:48 AM Joey. Tell us how you really feel.
Lol
game-over 11-04-2010, 04:49 AM I love the interior.
I would do away with the sterling wheel tho.
If I could I would wrap it with the same material as the rest of the interior. To keep the theme going.
You gots to be kidding me. That steering wheel is probably one of the best things in the interior. So legit.
davedavetC 11-04-2010, 11:55 AM haha josh i was thinkin the same thing, theres nothing i dont like about that interior, its friggen beautiful!
highvoltage1 11-04-2010, 12:43 PM Interior is sick! Im not usually a fan of that color leather but it works so well in this ride!
i love how the front licence plate bracket sits. I wish they made a bracket like that for the first gen.
mytcrox 11-04-2010, 10:58 PM sorry to say but i also dislike the stearing wheel :/
You gots to be kidding me. That steering wheel is probably one of the best things in the interior. So legit.
You have to remember what site you're on. A lot of Scion owners are still stuck on how many LEDs and HID kits they can fit on one car.
I assume people don't naturally like the Nardi steering wheel because
1. They never heard of Nardi.
2. It has an vintage style that doesn't normally flow with a modern sports/touring coupe.
Call me old fashion but I like it for what it is, a beautiful steering wheel. Plus it doesn't hurt that it actually matches the theme of the interior.

how can you not like it
Any who, those seats look so comfy.
BlckdOutTC 11-05-2010, 02:18 AM i think this is the only tc2 ill ever like. ____ is badass
davedavetC 11-05-2010, 03:16 AM im mostlikely going to be getting a tC2 next spring, depending on the RS7 :)
i've already contacted my scion district and scion corp about getting it trying to get the insight on the specs of it so i can get ready to reserve mine.
mytcrox 11-05-2010, 03:17 AM so far the cleanest of all tC2's...the rest look like they are going to come out in some fast and the furious movie
WellesleyScion 11-05-2010, 02:00 PM I want more interior shots, I love the design of it, but not sold on the color. Exterior looks flawless though.
game-over 11-05-2010, 04:11 PM i'll see if i can get more pics
davedavetC 11-05-2010, 04:17 PM More shots would be great

Jasper Ash 11-05-2010, 06:18 PM That interior is sooooo nice. Idk, guys. This really shows that the tC2 has potential. Just the drop and wheels alone have me liking the new tC.
WellesleyScion 11-06-2010, 02:02 PM Can anyone tell if the center console/dash pieces are the same material as the seats or if they are painted? At first I thought they were the same leather, but now that I look closer the color/design seems a little off from the seats, plus wrapping it around the Hazard button doesnt seem possible with leather...
It may be hydro-imaged. If it is paint, they did a pretty good job matching the seats.
WellesleyScion 11-06-2010, 03:52 PM Well if it is paint or hydro-imaged, the pieces needed to be fiberglassed or bondo'd to make them smooth, the factory shipped ones have a "carbon fiber" embossing in them.
chicotunner07 11-09-2010, 07:23 PM so sick, loving the baseball mitt interior, lol
only thing i would do away with on the interior is the grenade shifter, lol
YELOSUB 11-17-2010, 11:47 PM Damn that looks good!
wrmx6 11-19-2010, 05:13 PM Can anyone tell if the center console/dash pieces are the same material as the seats or if they are painted? At first I thought they were the same leather, but now that I look closer the color/design seems a little off from the seats, plus wrapping it around the Hazard button doesnt seem possible with leather...
My shop did the stereo, I worked on this car personally and I can tell you 100% that the dash pieces are wrapped in the same leather.
Only interior not wrapped were the upper seat "flip forward" handles. They were painted to match and had a black "speckle" added to simulate the grain of the leather.
game-over 11-19-2010, 05:38 PM this ^^^^^^^^^^^
WellesleyScion 11-20-2010, 01:30 PM My shop did the stereo, I worked on this car personally and I can tell you 100% that the dash pieces are wrapped in the same leather.

The Descendant/World turbo kit piping wraps around the battery location so there was no need to relocate it for that reason. It is intended for a side mount intercooler though. We did all the custom piping to match it up to the SMax from mount. The SMax oil catch can is located where the battery used to be, though.

PEwilly9 03-02-2012, 12:45 AM one of my favorite tC's for sure
12stormtroopertc 03-02-2012, 06:06 AM This is one of the cleanest tC2's I've seen. Not a whole lot of mods just sick. Congrats.
ashtc2 03-02-2012, 03:26 PM This is one of the few times where the nardi wheel is a downgrade
ProjectTC2 03-05-2012, 03:06 AM Did you figure out where he put the HVAC controls?
He did a HVAC delete so he removed them completley. If you look on the first page at the engine pics you can see that he removed the A/C, therefore having no use of HVAC controls
He might have relocated them...but judging by the fact that he did the A/C delete then I'd bet my money that he deleted the controls as well. He may have set them on a normal setting and just mounted them behind the dash so they aren't visable
