Default Under rear seat subs

I am getting ready to attempt under the rear seat subs in my XB2 any suggestions or have any of you ever attempted such a thing? i am going to use the Kenwood Excelon 8" shallow mount subs withh a 2 3/4" mounting depth which will fit and i think I can achieve enough airspace. Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Room under the seat is tight. Remember that the driver's frame and surround extend up about 3/4" from the top of the box. You'll need about 1-1/2" - 2" of free space above the sub to get the best sound (any closer and the small air volume preloads the sub). Instead of a complete 6 sided box, you may opt for a bottomless box. This will involve cutting the sides of the box to match the contours of the sheet metal of the car floor, then mounting it to the sheet metal. Fiberglass is also an option, but an itchy one.

Another speaker option is the Pioneer TS-SW841D, 8" shallow mount sub. Frame ring is not as tall, and the surround doesn't protrude above the ring while at rest. It's a but more expensive at $160 each (Crutchfield). Box volume is .4 cu ft. (173 cu in. less than the Kenwood).

Final option (what I did), was to mount the 8s under the front seats (used the 8" Fosgates) in a small (.26cu ft. enclosure) and ran the amps from a panel over the spare tire. Someday I'll get pictures of the thing (once I stop hauling stuff in my Box).

Tell us what you decide to do and get pictures of your progress! Good installing!

That is for the xB1 and includes a 10" shallow mount driver, so the price sounds pretty good to me. Won't fit an xB2 and I think the OP was looking to put it under the rear seats.

Yeah, I would have been all over it if it would fit the xB2.
