View Full Version : Ragtop Sunroof on a XB2?
myleshouston 11-16-2010, 11:15 PM Hi just wondering if anyone has done this on the XB2 yet? I searched the forums and could only find glass roofs noone with a ragtop. My idea is to go from right behind the map lights to just before the rear headrests. Here is the website i found for the kits http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/Streetbeatcustoms/Ragtops-Sunroofs/Sliding-Ragtop-35-x-40-Inches/557556/ and i found a local custom shop that can put it in for about $500. but does anyone have pics of this on a xb2? If so please post pics! thanks for the help!
buickid 11-17-2010, 01:50 AM Just be warned that it could leak in the future. And if the company goes out of business, you're stuck with a hole in your roof...
GoldenxB2RS5 11-17-2010, 03:26 AM That is a terrible idea... Not only will it make your car look like cheap ____, you'll have the extra headache of taking car of it. And the guy above me has a great point, doesn't look to promising...
CIONIDE 11-17-2010, 02:55 PM Isn't there a structural beam running across the roof between the B-pillars?
myleshouston 11-17-2010, 08:36 PM I am sorry you think it would look cheap however I didn't ask for your opinion I asked if anyone has done this, I have seen a few xb1's with this done and it looks awesome and they haven't had any issues with leaking plus the company I was looking at has been around a long time. As far as the beam I don't think it is that structural as quite a few xb2 owners have put in the panoramic glass roofs which would require that to be removed. Let's try to stay on topic rather than bashing others ideas! United by individuality right?
phatchef 11-19-2010, 04:36 AM i cant wait to rag my xb. randode ftw
LophatXB 11-19-2010, 08:46 PM I'd be careful using those from street beat. You get what you pay for. I almost used one of their ragtops in one of my old custom cars. It was really cheaply built and definitely looked like it would leak and flap in the wind at a moderate speed. If you want a really good rag top, look at other companies that have powered rag tops, they close tighter but they are more expensive. The street beat one, might be good if you don't drive your vehicle everyday, and trailer it to all the shows.

Roller_Toaster 08-21-2011, 11:25 PM Can you take it though a touchless carwash? (just curious, taking my old vert through a carwash meant getting a bath).
TrevorS 08-21-2011, 11:56 PM I saw a ragtop thread on another forum, think it was Club xB. It looks a neat idea and certainly innovative retro, though I can't say I'd personally go for it. Not really my cup-a-tea and too used to leak stories associated with soft tops and sun/moon roofs.
YELOSUB 08-22-2011, 12:08 AM No auto carwashes for me, handwash only...
phatchef 08-22-2011, 03:46 AM i got my 08 xb2 ragged and i love it. Randode did a great job on the install

Roller_Toaster 08-26-2011, 01:55 AM Hey, how do these things sound over 75? I do alot of highway driving..and I kind of miss being able to put the top down..
phatchef 08-26-2011, 06:11 AM its a little bit of noise but i have the radio on and i cant tell its there at all.
Roller_Toaster 08-26-2011, 06:27 AM Awesome. I doubt I will get one, as someone else with one pointed out its water "resistant", not waterproof. I use the xb2 every day, and it rains/snows/ices here quite a bit.
