I've been looking into doing some sort of carbon fiber mod to my interior pieces. Here is what I have found so far:

1. Buy a pre-cut "carbon fiber" kit. *not really carbon fiber, thick, visible seams. My uncle has a "kit" in his 4-Runner and it looks alright*

2. Send my parts out to a shop that will actually wrap them in real carbon fiber. *Probably super expensive, but it is real carbon fiber*

3. Buy simulated carbon fiber in the form of self-adhesive vinyl sheets. *I've read a lot about 3M Di-NOC and Neffy Wrap, but it seems like 50% like 3M and the other 50% like Neffy*

4. Go with an actual fabric that looks like carbon fiber. *Again, I've read a lot about people using this, but nothing conclusive. I found a company that sells it http://www.pyspeed.com/Carbon-Fiber-Fabric-Interior-Trim-Wrap-DIY-p/rd-8001.htm

I am leaning toward option 3 or 4, but I have no experience with this stuff, and any input would be awesome!

Slugo: I've used the self-adhesive sheets and like the results. Quick, easy-to-do, and easily replaceable. Good luck.

PS: If you're not looking to do everything in carbon fiber, I also used Krylon Fusion on a lot of the interior. Looks and works great.

I know, I know, I am late to the party. However, 5 years ago I was a poor college student driving my uncle's hand-me-down, busted-up 1997 Mercury Sable. He figured it was easier to give it away to me instead of trying to sell it. Don't get me wrong, I was grateful to receive it, but it was not a cool or fun car by any means.

Anyway, I was considering going the sticker bomb route, but I am late for that also. I just want the interior to be not so boring. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

From a design point of view, especially the interior, use the carbon fiber (read or fake) for accents. Use too much everywhere and it looks cheap. Cleaning plastic is easy: lots of soap and water! You need to get rid of any kind of oil/silicone/mold release on the plastic so the Fusion can adhere to be base plastic.

Honestly, I think the 3M stuff is pretty awesome. I like the 3D DI-NOC dry carbon stuff. I honestly think it looks really great. No sarcasm. It's legit.

Ive used the 3M stuff.. bought their biggest roll... I like it. As long as you have a heat gun and hobby knife your golden

If carbon fiber is what you want go for it dude. Ive been planning to do the Stickerbomb to my Cooper S but never got around to it lol.

I think I am going to give this 3M stuff a try. Can anyone recommend a good place to purchase 3M Di-NOC? If possible, let's see some pictures!

Thanks Mdiesel64! As long as that place carries legitimate 3m Di-NOC, I am happy. I am a little wary after looking at some search results from google, as they "claim" it is real 3M product. I just don't want to get ripped-off.

how about this, take the peices you want done out of the car, get that cf fabric and have that as accents then get some black fabric or whatever, take all to an upholstery shop and have them do a pro job (thats what I plan to do on the plastic parts in my car that were grey to have them redone

Good call! I was actually considering this also. I know of a few good upholstery shops close to me, so this might be worth doing. It will probably be a bit more expensive, but having a professional do the work would make it look that much better.
