Default Car makes kuklink sound when shifting 1-2-3

Most noticable when shifting into 2nd and 3rd there is a kuklink sound. No sound when shifting into 4th or 5th. Anyone else have this problem? What is causing this and does this sound mean something is wrong? Is there a official fix to this?

The reason I ask is that I am in work and school 7 days a week. The last time I went to dealership to get my alignment and air conditioner checked, they said both were working fine. I have to turn my steering wheel angled about 15 degrees to go straight and the air conditioner is terrible. Cannot stop sweating in 85 degree heat. Im afraid if I waste my little time I have, they will just say the sound is normal. Anyone know anything about this problem?

Im annoyed because I bought a brand new car because I did not want to deal with problems because I do not have days off at all and wanted something reliable. If I knew all these little problems would pop up, I would have never bought a Scion TC.

I mean, if someone can explain and as long as there is no damage being done/been done, the problem is not to bad. But if the sound means there is a defect and or damage being done, I would like to know.

do you notice it mostly when the car is cold?

maybe a different fluid would help
my dealer couldnt reproduce it

Actually I notice it when the car is warm and the weather was warm today. Didnt notice it much when it was colder and I had my stereo on.

first to second, i sometimes get almost a grind between the gears....stupid, because i'm shifting at 3000, with the clutch to the floor, i get a small grind when the engine isn't fully warmed up. i have also noticed a kinda clunk when i take off in first gear at low speed, like in a parking lot, i'll take off in 1st, then at about 2000 rpm, i hear a clunk, like something has let go. it's almost like first gear has two speeds

Hmmm... interesting...

I was thinking about the same exact thing this morning. I jumped in my car and when I started driving I noticed that it felt like there was a bit of grinding when shifting. Mostly from 1-2 and 2-3. I had the clutch depressed all the way...I was drving normally...It was freaking me out a bit. And there was noticeble noise too. I could hear it outside my car from the open moonroof. Man, my old WRX's crappy tranny never did this!

It seemed to go away after the car was warmed up but I live in San Diego..it was already 65 by the time I was driving so I don't think it's temp per se...

Maybe switching fluids would help. Perhaps redline synthtic or mobil 1? There's 2 problmes with that though...

My car is 2 weeks old..I shouldn't have to do this!

If there really is a problem and the dealer looks and finds something wrong they may blame it on me and my different fluids...

let's keep this thread going and see what we come up with...

mine is the same its got that klunk noise also from 1-2 and 2-3. there is also a high pitch kind of sound when moving the shifter near the 3rd and 4th area. its like a high squeak. not sure but you have to listen to it very very closely, and my clutch pedal squeaks when i press it too

Try accelerating a lil after u switch gears and before u completely let the clutch out..
i had the same problem thro 1-2-3 gears but nothin between 4 and 5

but ever since i started to accel a lil as i let my clutch out i get a smooth soft swtiching of gears...

i dun hear any grinding or kplump sounds..

Why is there no sound on gears 4 and 5? Its funny, that we all have the exact same sound on gears 1-3 but not 4-5. Anyone know?

Sound only occurs in warm weather!! I remember the sound last summer when I bought my Scion TC. Over the winter the sound went away and I did not really think of it much until yesterday when it got up to 70 degrees and I could hear the sound again. Now today its snowing and the sound is gone! Anyone else experience the sound only in warmer temperatures? 70+ degrees? During cold weather there is no sound at all when shifting gears.
