Default Clunky noise in rear of car

So.... my tC has 16k miles on it and I have this clunking noise on the rear of my car when I hit bumps or go through rough streets....
I thought it was my TRD rear sway bar hitting the frame of the car but the sway bar is rock solid and doesn't move.

All other suspension components are stock. I'm suspecting the rear struts...... Any idea guys?

Thanks

Clunks sound spring related to me. My first thought was a sway bar, but I'd inspect your springs to see if they make contact with anything.

If that's not it and you can't figure it out, you might want to inspect your wheel lugs as they are mounted on the axle. Or maybe you just need to re-pack your calipers. I haven't heard a caliper sound in a while, but I think it's a clunking sound. It's either a clunk or a pop, but I think it's a clunk. I can't remember, it's been too long.

Anyway, just throwing out some suggestions there because I don't really think you'd have any problems with struts at only 16k miles.

Could be something as simple as something loose in the trunk, usually the spare tire compartment.

Let the hooker out of your trunk...

I ride with my trunk completely empty; I just checked the spare tire, everything there also seems solid.
The noise feels like something hitting the underbottom of the car; I just checked my sway bar one more time while I was out checking my spare tire and it is rock solid.

I'm completely stumped......Might just end up taking it to the dealership to take a look at it.

If you have access to a lift you can go under you car and look for fresh rub marks from the parts knocking into each other.
