Default custom vs kit exhaust

my current setup is header, stock mid and s-pipe and trd exhaust. I kinda want to change my setup to a can muffler like the ark and hopefully squeeze some extra ponies cause i feel the trd has so much wasted piping. but basically i wanted a different sounding exhaust after i heard the ark. I've seen some ark can mufflers online and was thinking of buying that and doing a custom midpipe back instead of buying their setup. If i did this would it sound close to what their pre-built exhaust sounds like?

remeber, the trd is just a axle back, and doesnt give you any hp,if you got a full exhaust along with a downpipe, youll squeeze some power here and there but nothing mind blowing..

the thing that makes each exhaust sound different,is the tip itself, rather its straight through like the ark which would be louder,or the trd which is chamber so ill be quite, little louder then oem...but then if you add a midpipe along with a s-pipe,ill get louder alot louder, espicially since you said you have a header....rasp...then youll need a big resanator

Are there a lot more benefits from a straight though muffler compared to a chambered one like TRD?

There is a small horsepower gain. Basically, the straightest, uninterrupted path for exhaust is the most efficient.

It is also possible to bypass the muffler entirely:http://www.ptuning.com/html/Item-Des...20(1st%20Gen.)

That would be a nice exhaust to have, but I would have the cops on my "butt" all the time.

I agree. Not sure what your time line is but we have been discussing making a 2.5" for the tC1 too. Where are you located?

To get it to sound the same you'd need to keep your cat in the midpipe and use the same resonator they use in the midpipe also. Even then, it may not be exactly the same as the off the shelf exhaust, but pretty close. Remember, the header will make it sound WAY different than most of the videos online with the Ark exhaust.
