Need advice on an axle back
I have a buddy who works for greddy, i can get the evo axleback for 250 bucks(retail 400) and then have a muffler shop run me the rest of the piping. However there are alot of axle backs for the scion that are 250 bucks. Any advice for me? HP gains etc? thanks in advanced.
$250 is a great deal, and I don't think any axle back will add more power than any other axle back.
No dyno proof for that, but I honestly think you'll get power from any axle back, and it's going to be within .5 hp (not accurately measured by any dyno) of any other axle back.

difference btwn axle backs is minimal. although i would pay attention to the quality of the axle back. i personally dont like the tip of the evo exhaust as it is beveled. i think sound would be a more important factor.
^^^^ okay...
A short break up of our exhaust system:
Muffler --> piping ---> Resonator ---> piping ---> Catalytic converter --> header
By installing a catback exhaust, you're basically removing much of the restrictive exhaust piping in the stock exhaust up to the catalytic converter.
Axleback exhaust systems only replaces up to the resonator. You still have much restriction in the resonator and piping in between.
Thing is, the way our exhaust is designed, the only way for a catback to be added is it has to welded on since there are no flanges from the cat! Thats pretty much why most catback exhaust systems people have for OUR cars is custom made.
Hope that answers your questions :D

3 inch piping is overkill for our cars. Get 2.0-2.25 with mandrel bends and youre set to go
