yup
WarrenSteve 03-09-2005, 07:37 PM i cant tell if you did or not, but grinding/sanding down the rounded tip of the LED will give you a nice even glow, rather thana beam.
ScionTCTrav 03-09-2005, 07:41 PM Did you do your LEDs Blue in your Gauges? I did mine Red and they are all bright as crap :) and I also did my Cubby hole Bulb..I got mine from the same place.
Looks good

hohlecow 03-09-2005, 08:19 PM did you get the LED or the Incandescent? is it size #74?
if you got the LED, does it fade with the console lights (like i've read the original incandescent does)?
slightly OT, does the wheel well/cupholder light kit fade with console lights?
sorry, for the spout of questions, but this is definitely something i'm going to do, and want to make sure i know what i'm getting into. :loser:
ScionDad 03-09-2005, 08:20 PM You must have small hands because after 20 minutes of trying to put the thing back in, I finally pulled the face off, reached behind and pulled the whole thing out. Took all of about 3 minutes that way.
RacerZack 03-09-2005, 09:11 PM pulling off panels? pliers? omg....
open the passenger's door and reach around behind the center console. there's a small hole right at the front of the footwell where the base of the console meets the firewall. from there, you'll feel a couple of wires. wiggle them and you should see the cubby bulb wiggle too. pull. out it comes. replace the bulb and push it back into place.
nothing needs to be removed, no tools required. way easy. it's the lego car! :P

1. It is LED blue... #74. They come in other colors but my LED cathrodes and cupholder lights are blue...
2.This cubby hole light DOES NOT fade. It doesn't fade to begin with. It is either on, or off.
3.the cathrodes are an on/off button. There is no fading with the underdash/cupholder lights.
ANYTHING is better then the cheap yellow incadescent light already stock.
This mod cost all but $8.00USD and 3 days to ship. He ships fast.

Bluechualappa 03-10-2005, 12:04 AM Hey I have been looking at superbrightleds.com for awhile and I think I might order some stuff. I have a question though... In the post above he ordered 2 wedge #194 size bulbs(Blue, and a white) Aren't the parking lights 194? Would those work and would they make the headlight housing glow blue? I have some little plastic ones now that are blue but when they are turned on they are white. How do ppl make them glow?

I have some little plastic ones now that are blue but when they are turned on they are white. How do ppl make them glow? The parking bulbs are 194 I think, but they would use a 6 LED style. the bulbs I have are 4 LED. If you got blue LED it would deff glow blue. I think the part# on superbrightleds would be WLED-B6 (194) for the parking lights.
Dwnlow1 03-10-2005, 01:06 AM i changed my wedge to blue leds!!! they look good almost like hids cuz there so bright!!! I have pics of it but dont know how too post them!!
Bluechualappa 03-10-2005, 01:28 AM Well if you find out how post em. Or just e-mail them to me! Also I found these 194 5blue leds that face different directions. They are said to illuminate a radius of 290 degrees. I found them here: http://autolumination.com/194.htm Scroll down and they are the first leds you see. Would these be better?
Hudnut 03-10-2005, 01:35 AM I'm not sure if the 5 bulb would work that much better. The lense difuses the light from the led preaty well.

Bluechualappa 03-10-2005, 02:09 AM Here's one list I've found helpful... http://www.clubsciontc.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1164
brian 03-10-2005, 02:21 AM How hard was it to do those climate control lights? Anyone got any pictures?? I already have a blue LED in the cubby, but I want to do all the climate controls in blue...
njzauthentik 03-12-2005, 03:24 AM cant u just get the blue 74 incandescent bulbs from the same site???
Bluechualappa 03-12-2005, 03:46 AM Yeah but if they're like mine, they are blue but glow white or clear. And thats not bad if thats what your going for....
nero_tC 03-12-2005, 02:12 PM I was thinking the same thing with the blue #74 incandescent bulbs. Wouldn't those be better than the blue #74 LED's since the LED's only emit light like a flashlight beam? Are you sure the blue incancdescent bulbs glow white or clear?
Bluechualappa 03-12-2005, 02:38 PM Never mind... I thought you guys were talking about the parking lights, my bad. I ordered the led 74 in blue and it should be here today. All I can say is I have incandesent blue bulbs for my parking lights right now and they are pure blue but light up clear compared to stock yellow. I'm thinking it would be the same way for the 74 bulb. I ordered 2-6led blue 194 bulbs for my parking lights so I will see what happens!
Cuse me if i sound like a nub but i wanna do the gauge cluster lights, so do i just need one #74 or more? And how do you need to pull out/unscrew the cluster to do it?

Thanks for the concern :), but i got home and got it all out.
anyone know of a site that uses paypal??? or does anyone wanna be a pal and work a deal with me so that i can like pay you the money and you use your card to make the order for me and just fill out the shipping address as my address or somethin like that, i dunno... i got my order all complete then at the end it asked for my credit card and to my dismay, no paypal.... PM me if you can help or just post a site that uses paypal... thanx guys!

Bluechualappa 03-15-2005, 02:24 PM The cubby hole light is size #74.
The parking lights are 194 and they are 12 watt/or volt.

meemster 05-19-2005, 05:27 AM Hi, I was about to order the bulb for the cubby hole from http://superlumination.com/74.htm, and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to get the incandescent bulb, or the LED bulb? What is the difference and does anyone have pictures of both so I can compare how the light is distributed?
Thanks!

did you replace the trunk light? i took it out and noticed its a smaller size than the one in the rear dome. If you did replace the trunk light, did you get it from superbrightleds too? cuz i think the smallest size they have is for the rear dome only.
Yanki01 12-21-2005, 12:57 AM the hatch license plate light is the same size as the front dome lights, parking lights & side markers. I have all mine there. goingcarcrazy 12-21-2005, 03:03 AM So while we're on the topics of LED's, I've been toying with the idea of changing my turn signal lights to amber LEDs. Now I know LEDs use very low power, so I'm guessing if I replaced them, they would blink so fast they could give someone an epileptic seisure. So I'm curious as to what type of load I would need on a resister to stop that and if anyone knows where to get them. Any help would be great!

why do people prefer the 6-led wedge bulb, for the parking lights, instead of the 9-led one?
icdedppl 12-22-2005, 04:20 PM why do people prefer the 6-led wedge bulb, for the parking lights, instead of the 9-led one?
well, the bulbs that go in that spot are the 168/194 bulbs. the 6-led's are smaller and are labeled as 168/194 replacements, so people buy those.
the 9-led's are 921 bulbs and are larger and not everyone knows that they will fit. however, as i said before, they aren't very reliable.
luxy_33 12-22-2005, 05:36 PM Ya, I want to change my LED lights behind my dash gages, but I don't know how. Are there any directions, not that I'd use them anyway, on how you change the lights? I'm really not that big of a fan of the default orange color scheme; so I'd like to change it to a blue layout, similar to what Bluechualappa did in his tC. Is it that hard to change the lights? I've never messed with dash backdrops or anything before because I've never had that nice of a car to really care about how the inside looks.
Any help is appreciated.

I would like to do everything blue. I thought there was a guy that would do it and ship the product back...but im not going to be riding around w/o the gauges. Im not sure what im gonna do.... i doubt I will do this mod on my own.
Hypnotiq 12-24-2005, 11:28 PM I just did this, it took 30 seconds. If anyone needs an LED, PM me. I always order double what I need in case something breaks when installing. :)

icdedppl 01-30-2006, 01:56 PM so i would be better off buying the 6-led one?
i would say go for the 9-led bulbs. for the most part, the led's sold at superbrightleds and autolumination won't last that long. they even tell you on the site to not use them if they share the same housing with the main headlamp as they "wear out" or "burn out" or whatever you want to call it. people have had mixed results. i can tell you from my experience that i've had 9-led bulbs there, 2 sets, and they both have broken down after about a month. however, they look *really* nice. if you're going for looks, get the ones at superbrightleds, if not, i would buy the varads as they last much longer.

Notorious 03-18-2006, 08:05 PM it might be too big. Anything with blue lights on a car screams a fine! $$$
My bro swapped in red leds in his license plate lights, on his celica. It doesnt attract as much attention as blue would because at night, all you see is red behind a car, and it blends right in.
Kimmy 03-19-2006, 04:22 AM Does it void the warranty if you switch the amber lights to blue in the tack and such?
Neothin 03-19-2006, 04:45 AM you can't "void" a warranty. They will just refuse to offer warranty work if your aftermarket part caused the problem. if you change your cluster lights, and then the whole wiring system blows up, good luck getting warranty work on that.
Hypnotiq 10-19-2006, 09:28 PM I have some spare bulbs if anyone needs any just pm me.

hatchinprogress 12-14-2006, 05:04 PM i have an '07 tc..... i orderd the cubby hole bulb #74 blue led, well when i switched bulbs the l.e.d. wouldnt light up......but when i put the stock amber bulb back in it work.
i made sure the led was installed correctly. now i also noticed the led was 12v....and the stock amber bulb was 14v.....anyone else have this problem??
id appreciate any help (thanks)
Jdogg440 12-14-2006, 05:29 PM worked in my 07' just fine. i had my backwards at first, and swaped it around, it was fine. Was it in there all the way ? does the bulb look ok? both metal terminals reach the base?
TranceAddiction 12-14-2006, 08:55 PM has anyone ever dropped the cubby light led in the back, while in the process of installing it? if so ... any attempts to retrieving it? if so ... how?
-thanks
Jdogg440 12-14-2006, 09:21 PM dissemble the interior. 10 minutes you'll have practically the whole console out. I dropped mine under the carpet on the pass. side..

I think I dropped it in the pass under the carpet too. Is there any other "easier" method? I really cant imagine myself pulling apart the whole dash area.
Jdogg440 12-14-2006, 09:36 PM it is truely REALLY REALLY easy. 2 screws, 2 10MM bolts , and everything pops right out. i undid the 1 "bolt" plastic screw thing that held te pass side kick panel off, then unsnapped the carpet near the console area, then just pulled it all back out of the way, my bulb was between the carpet and the padding .
rodlandscion 12-15-2006, 12:11 AM What's a good amount of leds put in the cubby hole and the dome lights? They have the single, 4 led, and six led variety and I don't know which one to choose because I don't want to be blinded lol

rodlandscion 12-15-2006, 12:15 AM Would the 5 led wide angle bulbs work good for the cubby to get a broader beam of light?
elchinoloco 12-16-2006, 11:34 AM i cant tell if you did or not, but grinding/sanding down the rounded tip of the LED will give you a nice even glow, rather thana beam.
really? how much sanding...just on the tip or all around? i never thought of that
The whole round part clear casing. Do just enough to give it a frosted look. I too cant tell if the 74 bulb has a spotlight or not?
richardsayzz 12-19-2006, 08:07 AM trying to get my cubby hole bulb out with pliers and i think it fell through....lol i see it lighting it up in there...now what do i do.......
SquallLHeart 12-19-2006, 08:38 AM passenger side...

elchinoloco 12-23-2006, 11:01 PM I think its the single one, which is the only one that would fit either way... Someone correct me if Im wrong.

The cubby hole light is a #74 bulb, it only comes in one variant, one LED. (The shifter LED - if you have an automatic - is the same one).
For my domes, and parking lights, and license plate lights I went with SIX LED variant, seems to be a nice even glow all around. I love em.

You guys make this WAYYYYYYYYYYYY to difficult.
Just put the car in NEUTRAL,
pull the parking brake all the way up,
yank on the plastic trim on the left and right sides of the cubby hole and pull outward,
disconnect the cigarette lighter connector,
reach behind, pull the light socket out
swap the LED in
put the socket back into the hole in the cubby hole
connect the cigarette lighter,
put plastic trim back on.
DONE.
in all honesty, it's a 2-3minute job. i had to fix mine the other day, and had it in and swapped in less than a minute (yeah, i timed myself :silly:)
if you need more help, PM/AIM me
elchinoloco 12-24-2006, 10:01 PM ^Thats actually a little more to do then if you were just to pull the carpet from the passenger side.
xtonyC 12-24-2006, 10:25 PM Yeah, but it's quicker and you have more room to work with, especially when you have gigantic hands like me.
SquallLHeart 12-25-2006, 02:33 AM i found it faster to go from the passenger side...
