I wanted to post a reply to the closed thread about the tc2's top speed but i was closed. Someone had mentioned that the car is gearing limited to about 128 mph, however according to the gear ratios for the 6 speed auto with a .61 6 gear and a 3.82 final drive max speed allowed is 207 mph. for the 6 speed man. with a .73 6th gear and a 4.06 final drive, max speed allowed is 167 mph.

Now not that i am saying anyone should go out and try to confirm this, first of all the car is nowhere near safe on most highways at any speeds above 90-100, second it has nowhere near the power to go much faster than 120mph. the drag coefficient for both the first gen and second gen tc is pretty bad at .32 and .33 receptively. comparatively the camry has around .28 and the prius is super low at .25

For another comparison the corvette z06 has drag coefficcent of around .34 and needs all of its 500 hp and 475 lbs-ft of torque to come close to 200 mph. not to mention that the car was designed to go that fast.

you would need at least that much power plus thousands of dollars in aero mods and testing for the tc to do the same. eg think of the world racing tc's

lol fine then maybe i should just rename the thread to "actual top speed gearing limitation of tc2"

there is no where legal or not that anyone could hit 167mph in a tc well maybe if there is a long straight downhill road somewhere, it doesnt have the power/ proper aerodynamics to go much more than 120. plenty of race tracks that you could hit 160 with the proper setup, I know i have heard people that complain when they race there first gen tc that they could use a bit more top end speed. so when anyone gets around to tracking the tc2 it could be nice having the gear to go faster.
