Is the TRD exhaust worth it? Do you feel any gain or throttle response? I want to get all TRD stuff because of the warranty.

I am afraid of voiding my warrenty too, but there is practically nothing that the dealership could blame on an aftermarket exhaust system. Monarch 03-10-2005, 01:44 AM Yes you get a little gain, any aftermarket part voids the warranty, best sounding exhaust as well. Souljah347 03-10-2005, 01:46 AM it's not worth it. and an exhaust will not void warrenty unless they can prove the exhaust caused the problem TurboMe 03-10-2005, 01:52 AM Yes you get a little gain, any aftermarket part voids the warranty, best sounding exhaust as well. ditto that! if money is tight then dont get it. If u have money to spend get it! Sweet sound! and yes thats all I care about. engifineer 03-10-2005, 02:17 AM There is a little gain.. less than some aftermarket exhaust, mainly due to it being only an axle back. But it sounds great (better than most aftermarkets that i have heard), and I am planning on having the rest of the piping replaced to match, so I will see more of the gain. I like mine so far. And really, the 3-4 more hp you will gain with an aftermarket is pretty much negligible. yamaha16bw 03-10-2005, 02:18 AM My dad works at a Toyota/ Scion dealership and there no TRD part void the warranty. I have the exhaust and springs on mine. rsx_freak79 03-10-2005, 02:32 AM trd won't void warranty. they install that at the dealer so how can it void it? my dealer told me i can add intake, header, and exhaust and my warranty will still be cool. i got that ____ in writting. :) now my hondata on the other hand......lol TurboMe 03-10-2005, 02:35 AM it sounds deep and sounds mean at idle and its not a ricey tone! nycazn79 03-10-2005, 02:52 AM The exhaust sounds great with the amount of exhaust a stock tC produces. If you get headers, the increased flow makes it sound like a rice can. I sold mine and I'm using the stock exhaust until I get a full catback. Sound Clip http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=38114&highlight=sound+clip+headers yellot00tr 03-10-2005, 03:58 AM i bought nycazn's trd exhaust hehe. sounds sweeeet. trench 03-10-2005, 04:03 AM It sounds great! thats why you get it! LOL Swanny 03-10-2005, 04:10 AM I have the TRD exhaust and it sounds great. It also looks great being fully polished and all. DouBLeJ16 03-10-2005, 05:32 AM No, it's not worth it. speddlysmitt 03-10-2005, 10:05 AM Thanks, I think I will hold off then. trench 03-10-2005, 10:08 AM Its not worth it for some, but for those that can afford it without wincing about it, I'd tell them to get it in a heartbeat. Its covered under warrantry, gives decent additional hp's, and sounds nice.... dgHotLava 03-10-2005, 10:47 AM moved... cubaricantC 03-14-2005, 06:23 AM go with the borla its a full cat back sounds great and is offered at the dealer under warranty. It also cost exactly the same as the TRD. GammaTNT 03-16-2005, 09:04 AM can TRD exhaust be install without welding?if yes, is hard to install by a yourself?. cubaricantC 03-16-2005, 09:11 AM shouldn't be too difficult, it should be a direct bolt on. scrap 03-16-2005, 11:43 AM go with the borla its a full cat back sounds great and is offered at the dealer under warranty. It also cost exactly the same as the TRD. I heard the TRD's were also made by borla. RacerxB 03-16-2005, 12:19 PM I have the TRD and I love it, modest gain and very nice sound without the whine(rice). I love the engraved TRD. I prefer to do TRD parts simply for the warranty. It comes with a 12month warranty if you install it yourself. I also figure it takes a bit of the crap away from the dealer if the part is from toyota. bolts on in about 15 minutes including removing the old exhaust. DibujoB 03-16-2005, 12:43 PM I think the TRD exhause for the tC sounds pretty good. Not too loud, not too ricey. Power gains are not enough to notice, but it looks better and sounds better than stock, and you won't have any warranty issues. There's a lot of great aftermarket stuff out there though, and very few people get into warranty disputes over exhaust systems. cubaricantC 03-16-2005, 01:04 PM I'm not sure if the TRD is made by borla or not but the one offered at the dealer is a full cat back as opposed to the TRD being an axle back. I got it for my car and love the sound. Plus if you don't already have a CAI or drop in it comes with a matching Borla drop in filter which made a small difference between it and the exhaust. Not enough to brag about but nice to know its there I guess. fivepointnine 03-20-2005, 11:13 PM my car came with a TRD exhaust from the factory, and its definately a full cat-back purpled_out_tC 03-20-2005, 11:44 PM ^^that's an extreme negative ghostrider. I hope you meant axle. It even says it on Sparks Toyota's site. whyte_AZN 03-21-2005, 02:33 AM i've talked to the dealership and they told me that anything i do to the motor well not void the warranty on my tc, but if you do anything other than TRD springs, that'll void your suspension warranty. fivepointnine 03-21-2005, 07:47 PM well my exhaust must be a retardo one off or something, cause the piping is the same diameter and with mandrel bends as the piping coming and going to the TRD muffler and it starts at the cat. BTW my car came with the exhaust from the factory. fivepointnine 03-21-2005, 07:49 PM well my exhaust must be a retardo one off or something, cause the piping is the same diameter and with mandrel bends as the piping coming and going to the TRD muffler and it starts at the cat. BTW my car came with the exhaust from the factory. tyscion 03-24-2005, 09:37 PM I definately think the TRD exhaust sounds sweet! I got mine from the factory. fivepointnine 03-25-2005, 04:56 AM sorry, Im retarded, I do believe now that lookin at different pictures and examining my exhaust more, I think its just an axle back, but hell, it sounds great and I noticed a difference between a stock TC and one with the exhaust when I drove them. Explicit 03-26-2005, 03:54 AM I ordered my TRD exhaust through McGeorgeparts.com. I was going to order through TRDsparks.com, but when I looked at the prices, mcgeorge was cheaper even with tax and shipping. It should be in monday. Can't wait to install it. Sorry for going off topic kind of, just if you buy it look at prices first. uberscionofglendale 03-26-2005, 05:54 PM when i went to the tC training, i asked about the axle back setup. what the TRD guy told me, was that i helps reliability with the piping. he also said they were getting 5-7 hp gains. i like the way it sounds....plus, you lose some torque in the low end i think, well thats how it felt anyways, and i think thats a plus with the wheel spin on the tC. ScottsdaleTC 03-26-2005, 06:41 PM I just installed mine, I like it a lot, easy to put on and looks great. The sound is just right, not to loud and more than enough to improve the sound. tckurt 03-27-2005, 03:55 AM when i went to the tC training, i asked about the axle back setup. what the TRD guy told me, was that i helps reliability with the piping. he also said they were getting 5-7 hp gains. i like the way it sounds....plus, you lose some torque in the low end i think, well thats how it felt anyways, and i think thats a plus with the wheel spin on the tC. 5-7hp sounds about right can't wait to see what happens when I put bigger piping on from axle to s-pipe. |
