Just curious if anyone has had a problem with Discount Tire? I went there today to see if they had a book with pics of the different rims they sell in 18". Well, I was shown a book, but they would only show me rims that were 18x7.5 because that was the recommended size according to their computer. Kind of ____ed me off. So, I was just curious if anyone else has had this experience?? Thanks.........Don

nope have bought several tires from them and no problems. Just go to their website and look for yourself.

Yeah, I only buy my tires from them, and they are the best in business (at least the one here in Folsom, and they have the right equipment to stretch tire or not damage your expensive wheels) but there are not that many company in US which you would be able to order different offset and size wheels , places like discount tires know, 18x7.5 with +40~+45is good size wheel and will clear most of the import cars so thats what they carry, Sean

At Discount tire we have a warehouse that takes every new vehicle model and crams every single wheel and tire size they can on them to see what works and what doesn't, and then update the computer database with a list of what is recommended at what sizes in order to prevent selling a customer something that we know will not work. That would potentially lead to damaged wheels/tires or even vehicle, and we do not want to do that.

You have to be carefull of a wheel that is 7.5'' with an offset of 42mm to 45mm on the rear.It is so close to the lower trailing arm, I would recommend a hub spacer kit from 1tg
to give ample distant between the inner lip of the wheel and the lower control arm. Were you looking for something wider

Actually, the original post should have said 18"x7" instead of 7.5. They said I might be able to go 7.5 with some rubbing, however I have read on here that some people were running 8" rims. I would like to get a set of rims with a nice lip on them, because I like the look. Do you have a link for that hub spacer kit? Thanks to all for your input. :eyebrow:

lets not blast discount tire... they are one of the best run companies out there... theyre just trying to protect you and your ride. im sure if you wanted to try something that was outside of their fitment parameters they would be happy to do a test fit

I went to my local discount tire and there computer says a 20mm offset doesn't fit. Of course we have seen people with 15x8's with 18mm that fit. A wheel I liked the Voxx MG had 38mm and 20mm available and they said they won't sell me that one. They also won't do shims. So I asked my husband if he would and he said no, He is a ase master tech and for some reason I didn't ask him first about the offset thing. Anyway, he told me you have to be careful to stay within a few mm of the factory offset or you will ruin wheel bearings because they were designed for the 38mm offset wheel. So, keep in mind that a good tire shop will not sell you a wheel combo that will cause problems and I think Discount as well as Tirerack (who I have bought from before) are a quality shop and not just trying to get your money. I plan on buying from one of them when I have the cash!!

I was seeking a set of rims for the xA, discount worked very, very hard to get them for me. I had a great experience with them. The were very good to me and the car. I would reccommend them.

TireRack and Discount Tire both are quite a bit conservative on their numbers. Neither site list many available wheels for my other car. Biggest they list is 16x7. But with careful measurements and correct offsets, I have 17x9 on the front and 17x10 wide on the rear. No rubbing and no fender rolling required. Study the charts in the FAQ at the top. Width and offset are the two biggest factors in properly spacing wheels. The diameter will only be a problem if it's too small, or you can't get a small enough profile tire. Just try to keep the overall diameter close to the original tire size to keep the speedometer accurate.
