Hello,

I am picking up my xA on Thursday night. Trading my aging 1998 Mercury Mystique LS for a 2005 Scion xA Phantom Grey Pearl.

When I pick it up is there any thing special to Scions that I should be looking for besides the usual - scratches, oil in the crankcase etc?

FYI. Buying from Johnstons Scion in Middletown, NY. Not overly impressed with the dealer as many others seem to be. I was not able to get one of the regular Scion sales people and got stuck with a Toyota sales man. Being treated as just another buyer helping them make their numbers.

Thanks,
Andy -- Sussex County, NW New Jersey

Some guys here have talked about a sort of paint stain or brick colored overspray on thier cars... watch for that, I hear that it doesn't come off. Even if the dealer says it'll come off with a clay bar, make them get rid of it before you take delivery.

Some basic tips in no apparent order:

You should really go see a Scion Representative, they are so much more knowledgeable about our cars and can offer a better experience throughout the entire buying process. If they are unavailable, make an appointment.

Always ask questions. If sometime doesn't seem slightly right ask them to explain it to you in lamen terms till you understand it.

When checking out the car, look for scratches, dents, scuffs, or any body damage. Of course, do so in the daylight where you can see things clearly. There's not much to check in the engine (it's practically a new car + our engines are built rock solid)
