View Full Version : Tall guy in xB
Davemk1 03-10-2005, 02:16 PM I just started shopping and really like the xB so far. I'm wondering how I might fit in the car. I'm 6'5" tall. It looks to have more than enough headroom but how is the leg room.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
superjeer 03-10-2005, 02:21 PM some say plenty, others say not enough. I'm 6-3 maybe.. It's as good as any car I've been in. The only potential problem is between the sterring wheel and the door panel, where the lock switches are, if you've got big 'ol knees. So, make sure to check that out.
markd 03-10-2005, 02:23 PM I have a friend who is about 6'4" or 6'5" and he said that he has never had as much room in a car before. You just have to watch out for the back door.
EAN10775 03-10-2005, 02:24 PM I'm 6'4" and drive a manual xB - for the money you won't find a car with more room in it. I couldn't be happier with mine. (unless it magically turned into a Mercedes-Benz G500)
FrankenScion 03-10-2005, 02:26 PM You will probably want to get it without the cruise. I'm only 6' and my knee hits the cruise control stalk. Unless they can relocate it.
DibujoB 03-10-2005, 02:36 PM I sold a lot of tall people xB's. Some of them even hated the way the car looked, but it was the only thing they could fit in!
Go take one for a spin, I think you'll be surprised.

cruise control??? so on the rigth you have to remove wiper contol stick too???? LOL
i cant figure out HOW will you knee get behind steering while to be in the way of cruise control!
maybe yuor feet are 4 feet long and rest of your body only two LOL
sorry, i cant figure out how cruise control is in the way :tap: if anything steering wheel will be in the way before cruise control LOL
UnFocused 03-10-2005, 02:56 PM yeah, im 6'3"
No probs with leg room- i only wish that the steering wheel telescoped!
mikem53 03-10-2005, 03:05 PM I am 6'3 and have at least 4 inches of headroom to spare. I can't imagine anyone not being able to fit in there.
I also have cruise control and do not have any problem hitting it with my knee..

I don't have cruise control, but everything else is exactly the same for me. The most extra headroom I've ever had in a vehicle (except the duece and half truck I drove in the army).

The cruise control stalk is lower than the wiper stalk. Does your knee sit in front of the steering wheel? Mine is behind it and my left knee sometimes bumps the stalk.
I'm just telling him my experience, didn't expect to get flamed for it.
yournightmare 03-10-2005, 06:25 PM My knee hit the cruise control. My Dad has driven my xB and his knee hit the cruise control.
Satmax 03-10-2005, 06:48 PM I'm 6'6", and I was able to enter/exit and sit in the xB comfortably. But, I wanted a car that would look odd for a tall person, like myself, to drive so I got an xA.

superjeer 03-10-2005, 10:12 PM  They attract tall people because of their room, I guess.

SirScion 03-18-2005, 08:18 AM Keep us posted on the date, color, extras, etc.
kenfuji 03-18-2005, 10:43 PM i'm 6'2" 290lb i fit very comfortably in the box.

Do you fit in an xA? I tried sitting in an xA and my head was rubbing on the head liner and my knees were in contact with the dash ... BTW, I'm 6'7" and about equally split between torso and legs.
hip2bsq 03-19-2005, 07:07 AM are there any girls that buy these??? (XB) (I'm forced to get one, so my 6'2 hubby can fit in it without bumping his head) @ 5'4", I like it a lot....Now I don't feel forced, I love it!
rallyxb 03-21-2005, 02:36 AM I did a lot of "trying cars on for size" before I got my xB. I'm 6'3" with a 36" inseam. Head room is excellent and leg room is just a little bit uncomfortable on really long trips, so I'm thinking of putting spacers under the front seat to give a little bit more leg-room.
