Well it was this morning, I went to my xB around 7:30am getting ready for the El Toro show..
I sat in my car and noticed glass all over the car. They shattered my passenger window, and tried to pry my scion 6 disc radio, all they ended up doing was destroying my bezel and demolished my radio. They took the radio's face of it and left the radio guts. They stole my digital camera, tools, and my $3 glasses. these guys even took my Scion First Aid Kit and my ash tray! They must of been amateurs because my Scion emblems, my expensive Oakley sunglasses, and some new cold cathode lighting still i the box were not stolen..
the funny thing is, when i turned on my car, my radio plays KROQ. My radio face is gone.. I cant control the volume, change station or listen to one of my 6-CDs i can see inside the radio..

I called the Sherrif and they arrived in 5 minutes. They said my area normally does not get an inceident like this, but last night they hit 4 cars in my neighborhood!

I went to the car wash and took me almost an hour to get all the glass out.
I ended up going to the El Toro show because Kendo wanted me to get my mind off and not let it waste my day. Thanks Kendo.. I had a good time at the show. I was looking for people from Scionlife only met a few.

I guess i will be at the dealer all day on Monday. my xB is sleeping now in a garage with the window taped up until Monday's operation...I called the dealers in my area and no one has stock on xB window, stereo, or bezel..but i need this fixed, i cant wait anymore...if anyone can help me on this.....um....Verone ! 8)

That sucks man... I hope no one ever decides that it's a good idea to break into my xB... Because then I'd go to prison for hunting them down and murdering, cutting open their mid-sections to let their entrails spill onto the pavement, then replacing the intestines with salt and lemon juice while they are still alive. Then I would mutilate the bodies once they had finally expired from the agony filled hell I would put them through.

Ya, i have a $100 deductable....i have to call the estimator on Monday to meet me at the dealer because they are closed on weekends..i guess i will spend all day at the dealer.

i hate it when people break into cars. the worst thing is that they messed up your dash and didn't even make off with your deck! i see it all the time, damn amateurs. (they should know that toyotas are bolted down with brackets.)

do you really, really like the indash six? personally, i'd rather just replace it with a nice aftermarket deck. if they actually cut you a check to replace it, i'd do that.

I really like the indash 6. I can put about 150 mp3 on 1 disc times 6 discs. get around 900 songs. and i love the color changing screen.

I had my apartment broken into a few months back, and the bastard stole my roomates and my cell phones, wallets, some small stuff that isn't really worth anything, but had some sentimental value, and my girlfriend's hearing aids. I mean, seriously, what kind of sick bastard steals hearing aids?

The ironic thing is, those were the only thing really worth anything (it would cost her like $2000 to replace them, and she doesn't have insurance to cover it so she hasn't had them in months).

I know how much is sucks to have stuff like this happen, but I"m glad you kept your head up high and went to the event anyway.

yes, if you don't remove the faceplate. everytime i install an aftermarket deck, i tell my customers to always remove the faceplate when they get out of the car, epecially if parking it at the mall.

the decks are almost useless without the faceplate, and the price of the faceplate costs almost the same, if not more than the entire deck.

sorry to hear about that man i dont think the theives really knew u had a 6 disc until they actually broke in ur car though cause the 6 disc changer and the stock 1 disc changer look exactly the same except two minor things one is that the 6 disc says six disc on the top of it and second it has the color changer button. Hope everything works out

Well i called the insurance on Saturday after the sherrif left..Mercury said an adjuster will go to the dealer on monday. I got up this morning and got to torrance toyota before it opened just to get my car in first..

The adjuster never showed at 8am. i was calling and calling and calling...they kept giving me the runaround that my claim is still pending and has not been assigned to an adjuster...its now 11am and i am furious......all i wanted was to be there while the adjuster takes pics so i dont get robbed from the insurance company...yeah the window is broken, yeah the radio is demolished and the bezel is destroyed...but my glove box has a big scratch that was not there before...and my ash tray is missing...

Anyways...i made alot of phone calls...i found a shop that is mercury certified to give estimates and do not need a mercury adjuster present...so i left the car there and my baby will be fixed by tomorrow..woo-hoo!! i guess parts could not be will-called today..but they checked the Toyota warehouse and my stuff is in stock..

I am thinking of putting a 2-way paging/auto start alarm system.

i did not think anyone would want a stock radio, but i guess i was wrong...so be warned..get some kind of alarm..

i will update on Tuesday what went on...i have to get my disposable camera film developed and scanned to show pics....coming soon...

good to hear your on top of it. If you need someone to install that 2 way paging alarm, I know a guy who did my car, and he's inexpensive and clean.

glad to hear insurance company took good care of it

went to the body shop and picked up my car..only the window was replaced.. I paid cash..i told them to order the rest of the stuff as i await the check from the insurance company..I wanted to cash out and do the labor myself for the radio, bezel, and glovebox..i will pocket the rest to pay for the window, replace my digital camera and tools i been accumalating since i was 16 (i am 30 )..

Parts should come in about 2-3 days..its ok because i have my baby back..it was so hard not to see it for a whole day :cry:

nah...i did not have an alarm...i was waiting on that for later....well, ok i been lazy....
i been living in my neighborhood most of my life..i never see any burglarys..it just so happens the sherrif said 4 cars got hit the same night in my neighborhood.."there goes the neighborhood"

when i get the replacement 6-disc changer..i will install it after my alarm...
today i was thinking...if the theives couldn't take the whole stereo, why didn't they leave the face of it on the floor of my car? looking closer to the stereo guts (with the face removed), i see a bus connection kinda like a detachable face...
can someone answer this? can a 6-disc face replace a single disc face unit? i am aware that the 6-disc function wont work, but what about the changing color illumination? we have to look more into this...because if it is interchangeable, there might be a price on 6-disc cd changer faces on the market...maybe that is why mine is gone..just a thought..

or dude, im serious in saying this. maybee ALL headunits(single and 6) already are 6disc and it takes a 6disc front to activate the extra powers! That would be equally cool and upsetting. :?

Reason i ask is: When they took off my face of my 6-disc, it looked like a detacheable face radio. It had prongs like it just plugs into the rest of the radio. Looks like its replaceable..just wondering..

Finally received my insurance claim check in the mail..
I need to find out tomorrow where i go to have Toyota endorse the check to me.

I will take more pics when i get it completely restored..Still waiting on my ash tray I ordered from Carcon Toyota.

P.S. I bet the theives are teenagers and I bet they live in your neighborhood. If you bust them, then you might be good for another 10 years before some bad seeds sprout up again.

I finally received my check form the insurance 2 ½ weeks ago. Problem was they wrote it to myself and Toyota Financial. I had to mail it to Toyota financial to endorse to me only so I can cash it and pay the Auto Body Shop. Minus the paid out-of-my –pocket items including window repair, ash tray, clean-up, etc. I mainly just wanted the money to replace my 6-disc CD and damaged bezel.
I mailed my check to Toyota on 2/26 next day air. I also placed a pre-paid next day return envelope and placed a specific note inside to mail it back. With my luck I waited and waited for my check. I called 1 week later for status. They said the envelope must have been thrown away. I specified I needed it NEXT DAY since I already paid for it.
Well that was on 3/8/04. I finally received it on 3/10/04, and my radio was installed with the bezel on 3/11/04.
In case anyone has to replace the bezel: I thought the bezel was more complete, it just includes, well, just the bezel. I had to transfer over the vents, plastic yellow holding clips, electronic boxes, clear light diffuser, the foam around the air vents, and get this…I had to replace the climate color, air control, and vent control stickers. WTF!?! Anyways. Since my scion was broken into on 2/7/04, total complete to new was dated 3/11/04. more than a month.

I still had 6 CDs inside my demolished original CD player. I had the auto body return it to me. I disassembled it to remove my CDs. The top one was already damaged form the theft, looks like a screwdriver scratch. Anyways, I finally have my radio back and am happy again..

a month isnt that long, considering when my old Focus was in an accident and it was only out for about 6 months, they took about 2 months at body shop. But the worst thing was they put on used bumpers without telling me, which I noticed when I got in my 2nd accident in that car, about 9 months later.
Damn SUV's !

Man, that really blows. Sorry to hear about your break-in, I guess it only makes it clear to me that when I drive in the city I leave my Xb at home.
